Man, that is crazy how a Lumix is twice as cheap as the Sony and the Canon. At that price the Panasonic is more of a video centric camera than any of the competitors. You're getting one hell of a camera for that price

It's a great price for a truly impressive camera. Thanks for watching!

The price has nothing to do with how videocentric the camera is. What the Lumix offers as far as dynamic range, image quality, ergonomics, video tools, etc are what make it a great camera for video. The price is just icing on the cake.
The A7SIII, while more expensive has the benefits of almost no rolling shutter, dual base ISO's (with the second being an insane 12,800) and better AF performance. The biggest downside I see from Sony is their lack of firmware support (particularly for the A7SIII).

Nice comparison. Could have added the Z8, same price range as the R5 and a much better video camera.
I would give the quality edge to the S5II, dynamic range is better than the R5 and on par with the A7Siii and shoots 6k which is a nice medium between 4k on the Sony and 8k on the Canon.
Also the only camera to have active cooling and Open Gate. And it's the cheapest! The only "flaw" with it would be high frame rates. Cropped 4k60p and no 4k120p.

Thank you for watching and sharing your view on each camera. You're not wrong the Nikon Z8 is another strong contender especially to stand against the Canon in both high-res photography and video performance.

Surely the S5M2X would have been a better option for the LUMIX?

I love all of the short vids! The sony looks great, a little funky retro vibe, just the camera feeling is not for me. I love Canon, but until they lower their prices down by half, Pany will win, every day of the week, at least for me, thats why I bought S5IIx. Cheers, guys!

I really like the Panasonic colors. Sonys image looks super crisp! Sony won but Panasonic is trailing very close!

Very good job, I was trying to figure out which ones would be great for studio use and thanks for the review. PS... Use DJI (2 TX + 1 RX) Wireless Lavalier Microphones, They work great for on the go video shoots.

Lets admit the lumix and sony are cheaper because canon is a true fantastic still camera... the resolution is fantastic

    • @WexPhotoVideo
      @WexPhotoVideo  8 місяців тому +1

The resolution does make the R5 shine in both disciplines: 45 megapixel photographs and 8K video - remarkable.

I like the LUMIX the most from these three reels. It’s neutral, natural, and just quite nice. The Sony to me feels both muddy and shallow at the same time, it’s a weird feeling. I don’t know what went wrong with the canon, it is just eye-searingly over saturated.

honestly the r5 video was the best, but its mainly due to the videographer first, then gimbal and concept, as i believe the other cameras can do just as well. but i would give the r5 the tick in colors as its very nice! the a7s3 was transitioning too fast, especially for a slow-motion video. the lumix ibis wasnt helping it and actually was very noticeably bad due to the slow motion! the lumix video didnt have a story, the a7s3 video was ok, r5 was the best again.

Yeah I agree with this, I really enjoyed the R5's clip, but ofc it was on a gimbal, that said the colours did look great. I think it'd have been really interesting to compare them in the exact same scene and all either with or without gimbals. Anyway it was still an entertaining vid.

I thought the R5 had the best color and overall image, not taking into account steps taken in post. Great comparison.

Interesting that the second and third videos show details and experiences that increasingly are found all over the world, and are hardly unique. Fast Indian food, which is essentially porridge with meat and/or vegetables, looks the same, has the same smell, and comes with the same endless people, whether you are in Tokyo or London. By now, it is utterly droll. The crystal shop at least looked unique, but the bored, foreigner behind a phone is part and parcel of every major city now, no matter where you go. What, then is unique about Camden? Well, the ganster photo shop offered the only ''don't see it often'' experience in this place.
When English culture is so watered down by endless foreign influx, I guess I shouldn't expect much, but the videography was great. I really liked the last one, which made use of great cuts, close-ups, and did show punchy colours. Both the Sony and Lumix were great otherwise, but the Sony short had a greater selection of angles and a couple of classic movie trope shots, which were nice, and played nicely into the theme of the shop.
Still, it is amazing how England is less and less unique with every passing year.
