  • My Zoom multieffect is stereo and this is much better than mono with my headphones.
Digitech trio is mono and sound is not so nice.
I describe how I connect both pedals with a home made switch.

I had the same pb in 2020 with these 2 great gears (zoom g3xn and Trio+). I found an easy solution : using stereo headphone cables and a jack splitter. Because the splitter works both way, you can receive your stereo informations from both gears in your favorite headphones. You can mix the levels from the Zoom and the Trio + (which has specific knobs level for guitar, bass and drums) and you are good, ready to use the best options of the two devices without any DIY box ... and it'pretty cheap ! Now i am using a little mixer si i can add my singer (or pretend to be) voice into the mix in my headphone or speaker.

I am very interrested by this solution.
But i don't understand how it works.
The solution shall work when we teach the trio, when we record in the looper, and when we play along with the trio.
Could you please describe it with more details ?
And the jack splitter, is it 1 stereo to 2 mono, splitting the left and right ? Or is it a 1 stereo to 2 same stereo (like a duplicate) ?
I am excited by your solution. Looking forward to having more details.
      Thank you.

@@GuitarMusicCapsule OK, it is pretty simple.
From the diagram at 0:50 in the video : instead of using the Out/L stereo from the ZOOM into the FX return of the Trio+, use the Out/R from the Zoom : it is mono but Trio+ is as well = no change in the treatment of the FX loop for the Trio+. Then the out/left stereo is free for a headphone option with a great sound.
Any common headphone splitter has 2 female jack sockets and 1 one male jack socket.
The sound coming in the male socket will be heard in the 2 female sockets (traditional use). But the sound that is feeding one of the female jack socket will also be heard in the other one. This is why i said it is working both ways : you can listen to one audio source with 2 headphones, but you can also add 2 audio sources to be heard by 1 headphone.
Here is the devices you will need (cheap and easy to find on the net or at your local supermarket)
      - 1 stereo headphone splitter
      - 1 extention stereo male/male cable
      - 1 adapter 6,3/3,5 mm stereo jack
Here are the pluging instructions :
      - Plug the male jack socket of the headphone splitter in the headphone out of the Trio+ .
      - Plug the extension stereo cable in the out/left stereo of the ZOOM with the 6,3/3,5 mm adapter stereo jack, then plug the other side of the cable into one of the female sockets of the headphone splitter already plugged into the Trio+.
      - Plug your favorite headphone in the other female socket of the headphone splitter.
THERE YOU ARE !! ready to play with the best options and sounds you can get from the Trio+ and the Zoom, with a very cheap solution.
The only negative point is that you'll have a little decrease of the volume in your headphones, but it is easy to treat by adjusting the sound level from both gears. Of course this method won't improve the sound of your guitar coming from the Trio+ (mono as always) but the sound you'll have from the zoom will be great as you play, and you can teach, record loop on the fly without using any other equipment.

Advice : instead of using your headphone, you can also use the same method to plug into any standard home sounding equipment : playing a long time with headphones can be tiring.
Hope all of these informations are understandable.
      Have fun !

Wow this is great, I tested it and it works perfectly!
Thank you very much for this brillant idea!
I changed my config recrntly, I have delay/reverb effects after the Trio. So i don't have this mono issue.
Anyway, thank you for this hint.

Cool!!..🤨But question?? Do you NOW have a configuration for the Amp /Mixer Outputs (or Headphones output from the Trio+ ) ..to simulate Stereo for PA use? Note: The Headphone output impedance is for just that,🎧..so,..the sound quality isn’t as good as the main ones. So do you have another box to get Stereo (Amp/ Mix pseudo) ⁉️🥹

Hi , i have now another configuration :
Multieffect-> Trio Plus -> another Multieffect.
The second multieffect has stereo effects.
So it is possible to avoid completely the use of headphones output and use the multieffect stereo output to PA.
But I haven't tried it a PA, so cannot tell if it really works.

Would you know how to hook the trio + to a boss 505 loop station and guitar pedals. If you do please let me know how I would set that up. Thanks

      @GuitarMusicCapsule  Рік тому

Hello, if you want to use both looper features, then i would recommend this wiring :
      Guitar to Trio+
Pedals between the FX loop of the Trio+
Trio+ output pluged into the Boss 505.
You will have all the features available at the same time, but it will be mono !

How can I do this with a Roland GR-55? Problem is that the GR-55 exclusively takes a GK cable (13 pin IN) as input.
    Thank you

      Hi ! I don't know the Roland GR55.
I browsed it on the web and I found that this device has a guitar input and a stereo phones output.
So this is possible to do it with your device.
But look at the very first comment under the video : a youtuber posted a comment with a much better solution.
Basically you will need a cable or adapter 1 TRS mini jack to 2x TRS mini jack at a dollar store. This adapter duplicates the signal from 1 to 2 connectors.
Plug the guitar into the Trio guitar IN.
Plug Trio FX send to the GR55 guitar IN
Plug the GR55 audio OUT into the Trio FX return
Plug the GR55 phones OUT into the adapter.
Plug the Trio phones out into the adapter.
Plug your headphones (or stereo monitors or else) into the adapter.
Trust me, this youtuber has a great idea because it works.
