- In this episode, I share my experience launching a fishwheel to catch Alaska salmon on the Copper River. Using a fishwheel for Alaska sockeye and red salmon is part of the subsistence tradition in the Copper Basin. Please stay tuned as I post regular updates on how the salmon fishing progresses.

That's true. Our fishwheel is still along the bank, but a neighbor shared a couple of reds with me already and they were delicious.

Thanks Dwayne. I hope to capture some video of how fish are caught in it. I am also planning to interview an 80-year-old guy that has some amazing innovations to go along with his fishwheel.

Love the views of the river and the mountains. When did you first learn about the landslide? Were you surprised when you came up on it? Does it happen often?
Thank you. I saw the landslide for the first time last year. Landslides are fairly common in Copper River country. Some places are just natural, others are a result of the warming permafrost.
