Exactly! I’m also native born Californian, lived in San Francisco and out on the SF Peninsula. I’d heard the Marsh name, was familiar with Indian AND Mexican raiders in part of our families history in the early to mid 1800’s. I did not know the story of Mr. Marsh and his family…..thank you. Oh, family history on my mother’s side; ranches in foothills Northeast of Merced, CA. , sometimes raided.

Good morning Sarah and Jeff. WOW! Another great video with so much important information.
I lived in Richmond CA for 20 years. My wife and sisters used to go to Brentwood every summer to purchase fruit and vegetables to Can. I used to go through Brentwood to get to the Delta for Catfishing. We had friends that lived in Pinole, Crockett and Orinda. My late mother-in-law had a cousin that lived in Martinez.
All of the above said because all the time that we were in that area, this is the very first time I've heard this story about Dr. Marsh. Fascinating, I lived in an area that was ripe/rich in history and never knew it.
Thanks again Jeff and Sarah. You two make my day with every upload about the History of our area.

Thanks! Yeah, it's crazy how history is forgotten and neglected to be told to future generations. Marsh may have been a mean scoundrel but he was interesting and played a very significant role in the settlement and statehood of California! We appreciate your enjoyment of this history as we presented it!

Yes, BIDWELL'S!! It's amazing how Much land they all had back then....and native people were pushed aside. I lived in Klamath and got to know many of the natives of the area. Later we lived in Requa, my uncle was born there in 1900 and his family was one of the first to settle there, the Fehely family. His wife, my aunt Elizabeth, also taught Reagan in a one room school house. They passed in the late 60s.

The wall you mentioned looking like stucco… was rotted out for a long time when I was younger and you could see into the house. The repair was necessary to save the house from further decay.

I'm really enjoying your videos! Thanks for posting. I started with you when you covered the John Muir house in Martinez California. Now this Marsh house in Brentwood California. We live near these locations. Interestingly we never knew that Dr Marsh was kind of a bad person.. and kind of brought on his murder. Locally we always heard the more glowing side of things. Thanks for enlightening us. And is a viewer mentioned in a posting above you should do one about the Bowers Mansion in Washoe Valley Nevada. Neat story.
I really enjoyed this as it help me unwind my day in a beautiful way. Thank you for posting!

Once again another great video I live very close to the Marsh Creek house if you ever get a chance visit round valley about three miles up the road go to the parking lot follow the creek you will come across a cave carved out of a giant rock it is supposedly John Marsh's wine cellar I believe he had a vineyard off of Marsh Creek on the left hand side the building with the big arches also there is another building when you go over the bridge hike to the left also right next to the creek there is a old Stone building supposedly it was one of John Marshall's outbuildings he used for hunting I think but it is worth checking out and I also I'm going to go to the spot off of Pacheco with my metal detector if there are any gold coins up there I will find them thanks again Jeff and Sarah

This is such an interesting story that brings up a few questions...Just how did they determine who were Dr. Marsh's murderers? and, .....Did the murderers come clean and give the fine detail as to what happened? Once again Jeff and Sarah, you have produced a wonderful video on California's early history. Thank you again for this early Sunday morning story. I hope that soon, you will be able to gain access inside the Marsh mansion and give us all more. .....Russell D.
