How did I miss hearing about this from the South Poll Grass Cattle Association?! I'm on their list and I live 20 minutes away. Just subbed to your channel though.
This was in Missouri a couple months after last year's South Poll Festival and Cattle auction in Alabama - but we're hoping to pop up in more places this year! Be sure to sign up for our newsletter on our website rootssodeep.org to be the first to know when we might be in your area!
Joel Salatin has been all over this for the past 40+ years as well - PolyFace Farm - he has been invited to speak at Congress, Google, Homesteader conventions, etc. plus his books, interns, etc.
UA-cam is full of permaculture farms, homesteaders, etc. Justin Rhodes started a streaming platform called Abundance + that is based entirely on permaculture/rotational grazing, etc. for people to learn from at every level (apartments/urban gardening to multi-acre properties). Videos for every type of animal - chicken, ducks, geese, turkey, quail, beef, sheep, goats, pigs, alpacas, etc. - raising, harvesting, and processing on your own property. YT Channel Sow the Land has classes for processing chickens. YT Channel Hollar Homestead offers classes for harvesting/processing pigs (in the winter), etc.

@@carboncowboys thanks but I already watched all your currently available videos 😜... love it all... really looking forward to the release of the docu-series👍
I am so excited for this project to get traction. I left farming after realizing that the soil my boss had was shot after generations of farmers in the central valley of California. How far have we sunk it at this point? 😮
Will Harris needs to lobby to have some people from Carbon Cowboys on JRE. He blew up because of it, but y'all have a larger view and broader arguments in favor based on different variables. Think Shawn Baker has a podcast too. Raise more beef, eat more beef!

I’ve been going around the UA-cam merry go round looking for it… thanks for sharing! We only have a 1 acre pasture that came from a 4 acre forest we bought and built a house on in 2022, but I’ve spread 250 lbs of grass seed out there and it’s coming in very sparsely. I hope this can help me get it growing… rain would be helpful too!🙏🏼
Hi my Brother and I are working this grazing method to rehab 10 acres in Maui. We have bee hives and macadamia nut trees. We're working on transitioning from invasive grass to a variety of natives. We have 2 cows, 26 sheep, and we're working on adding chickens. We don't harvest them. We're adding some water infrastructure to get the upper elevations watered. The animals get scraps from local vendors + what the land produces. I'd like to implement drones and lidar with ground sensors along with AI to measure all of the data. Herd size, soil health, vegetation in / out, paddock management and rotation scheduling, yield rates, vegetation identification, bee management, water data. We have a stream on the property that we use. We get power from 27kw of panels in various stages of installation on an (off)grid electrical "grid".
I’m interested if you have any farms in the burned area of north Texas. Was the wildfire damage as bad or did the grass and land have enough moisture that the fire wasn’t as bad on the regenerative farm land
We love Will Harris and the folks at White Oaks! Have you seen the carbon cowboys film “one hundred thousand beating hearts” ? It’s available here on UA-cam! ua-cam.com/video/qpvegapd1T4/v-deo.htmlsi=jGFc0-VglkXrmz6L
Amateur soil scientist here (among a plethora of other backgrounds). Aerated soil allows for better root growth. Manure creates habitat and food sources for dozens of beneficial creatures from insects & worms to nematodes & microbes. Worms digest organic plant matter, make a small amount of nitrogen available, and habitat & food for microbes & nematodes. Nematodes help fight pests that create plant diseases. Microbes slowly help convert chemical compounds into compounds the plants can absorb throughout the growing season. Excessive use of chemical fertilizers resulting in a buildup of salts and other chemical compounds, which slowly destroys the beneficial populations that make up the soil food web. In this process of destruction, cation exchange at the root zone begins to slow and be interrupted, if moisture is present, the process of excessive root decay can begin. There is an ideal atmosphere for root and leaf growth which is measured in vapor pressure deficit, aka VPD (think Hawaii or volcanic/aerated soil greenhouse). Manure from grass eaters can helps create a microclimate similar to Hawaii for explosive root growth. Combining live soil with a medium that drains well (e.g. manure) and allows for increased airflow into the root zone is an absolute game changer. During controlled tests in a greenhouse, nearly 100% increase in early plant growth were observed. In another test, using a mix of compost and uncomposted horse manure combined in a 1:3 ratio, root growth was measured at over an inch per day during peak growth season. These were in above-ground containers designed for root growth observation, under 80-90°F temps common in late spring, Mediterranean climate, with low daytime humidity, in full outdoor sun. Microbial life is so important to soil health, even Harvard has been using composted teas for management of their 20 acres of lawn grass because the roots go deeper requiring less watering, resulting in a healthier grass.
Paying taxes is a blessing for two reasons. The first was said in the video: if you owe tax it means you made a profit instead of taking a loss. But the biggest reason taxes are good is because it means you're participating in a cooperative effort to make everyone's life better. Everyone chips in, based on ability to pay, and the money is pooled to fund things you need (roads, fire department, education, etc.). Our tax system has become too complicated with deductions and loopholes, corporations have subverted the system to benefit rich people, and taxes are used for things every single taxpayer disagrees with (each a different objection). But the basic premise of taxes is good. If you don't want to pay tax you're like the mooching roommate who wants to live in the house and eat the food but not pay rent or do chores.
Im so into supporting the farmers im from Indiana...but yall scare me with your Maga. Most people in America are country or country starved. Love you.💗
This is not new knowledge. Ancient farmers have always been aware of this. A good soil gives good crops, gives good animals, makes people healthy. Why are most of the men in the video overweight? Wrong diet - wrong lifestyle - too big cars. Why are amish men not overweight?
Is this similar to crop rotation? Nothing new here folks… just plain ole common sense. Would need to learn more before reaching a definite conclusion but the program uses language that doesn’t sit well… careful control and relying on your community feedback to make decisions on when/where you can graze… sounds communal and socialistic in nature.
