- This video shows the guide teaching me this “technique” at no point did they discuss how it was hooking them. Google search "flossing" for sockeye and chum.
I did it for one session before I figured out what was really going on.
Expert guides really can catch a fish a cast using this approach.
But it’s not quite what I went to BC to do. - Спорт
Not my idea of salmon fishing...but thanks for taking the time to record it..
Not my cup of tea either.
Something different.well done .
I'm guessing you don't have to get out of bed at 4:30am to fish the reservoirs.
No you don’t, or when you go out with guides that have licences for classified waters.
Your guide should loose his license for allowing you to keep that last sockeye out of the water that long.
Not for me.Reminds me of the first day of the season at a lot of waters, with everyone clammering over best spot for and shoulder to shoulder to get the best sport rather than share.Much different to your Rutland videos with light tackle, dry flies and buzzers, etc, where you have the tranquility and beauty of that amazing reservoir.Well done though John for showing us fly fishing in other places in the world.
It not at all what I was expecting.
As a Canadian, we have many high-altitude reservoirs that rival our natural lakes in terms of beauty. Most of us prefer exploring wild waters and seeking out wild fish, but it's not always feasible. The Skeena River and the other famous rivers surrounding Terrace, BC, are quite popular among anglers. While many people may be after salmon, most Canadians and Americans specifically target the highly esteemed Steelhead. Due to the limited number of rivers and fishing spots, it is wise to rise early to secure a good location. I can assure you that I will never forget the experience of hooking and landing a 20lb Steelhead.
Too many lines in the water for my liking
Don’t even get me started on that! Should be no more than three anglers in that spot.
