Thanks for this interview. The other interviews conducted at CBD always set unrealistic salary expectations ( think 10k and above) as the minimum one must have to be comfortable. I sometimes wonder what's their definition of comfort.
It’s a very subjective thing I guess. $10,000 is probably uncomfortable if you’re earning $20,000
@Sethisfy it's just their own lifestyle choices they make. The people who earn 20k and need to spend 10k, probably need to pay off their huge bungalow housing loans, 2 to 3 car loans etc. Are those a need? Definitely no. It's their own inflated lifestyle choices that actually never ever a necessity but more of a want.
Once u have own multiple cars or houses, also like that. Even after having any material thing u want, u will still want more and more. It's that addiction. One don't really need it at all.
@jamesmadison3108 you joking right? earn 20k want to have bungalow? Even a terrace cost 4m...
@@lucern543 uncle. No one said to buy at this point of time. I have relatives who bought their landed homes decades back and the bungalow is less than a million. Don't always assume la deh.
@@jamesmadison3108lol, don't need paiseh just cuz you got it wrong and some rando on the internet called you out lah.
if someone bought a bungalow when bungalows were sub 1m, they should have paid off their mortgage by now.
keep yourself busy is surprisingly sobering and good advice...people spend the most when they are bored / scrolling...
Watch more of kelvin and my videos. No money spent 😂
I disagree with the cost of living in Singapore being "High". Just compare it with Malaysia and Singaporeans should be thankful its actually not that "high" everything here is reasonable except cars and houses especially food (which is much cheaper than Malaysia).
Exactly my thoughts. Imagine earning the same salary but paying 2-3 times more per meal, it’s crazy over here
@@jigeahah5058 yeahhh, that's the point most ppl don't understand and yet still claim Malaysia is "cheap". They are having it real tough
To be honest (as someone who has lived and worked in multiple countries) I find Singapore cost of living to be lower than a lot of places (especially with the low tax rates). Its expensive if you're an expat sending your kids to international schools.
I can see both sides. On one hand I don’t really feel that Singapore is expensive even with the rising costs because my lifestyle is relatively frugal. On the other hand I feel that there are people with a lot of obligations like children and aged parents’ expenses that are really quite burdensome even before the rise in costs.
Anyhow I can only do what is best for myself which is to continue trying to spend moderately while increasing my income.
Cars and housing are damn expensive.
@@steventay5834 housing is significantly cheaper compared to many developed countries, especially if you're a local and can get a BTO. That doesn't even include the additional housing grants. Cars are expensive but Singapore is so small and the public transport system is so good that you don't need one.
@@camplord3509
We need a car to earn money. We are real estate agents.
@@camplord3509
Our BTO is very small and can cost $500,000 to $600000
I am interested how much people save every month of their paycheck? Cannot be earn $5k and spend $4.5k right?
I made a video that: ua-cam.com/video/rPGLaeG_Kwc/v-deo.html
40% savings
As a person that live in Batam, I feel offended by that Lady. Jk😂
Well it’s more about the travelling distance right? To someone who stays in the States, Batam would be very expensive to get to I imagine 🙃
It’s not just about how much we earn from our jobs to fund our spending. Equally important is the need to save and invest early and consistently so as to build up capital that can generate adequate passive income to cover living expenses in our later years if we choose not to continue working.
Yeah I like to talk about saving, investing, and generally squeezing value out of things on my Telegram/site :)
As a single, minimum 80k pa. Anything less and you’ll actually have to actively monitor your expenses.
$5000 is good enough🙏
😌
$5000 cant do much. My two teenage kids expenses already $4000 a month.
Hard to believe two kids spend 4k a month. Are the kids having caviar for lunch and dinner.
@@jer2911.Lspoilt brats la. It's all lifestyle choices. This don yang fella over here must be inflating their lifestyle with lotsa wants rather than needs.
Wah 4k for 2 kids. Must be rich
Easy to say my dog alone expenses is $20K per month
@@norman6499damn my hoomans only spend 100-200 on me a month. Your dogs be living like kings 😂
5 k per months? Is that including renting a apartment and driving a car or without that?
Singaporean is most smartest in the world for private finance.( Im from other contry)
We are very money minded! What country are you from if you don’t mind sharing?
Actually $5,000 is not enough for retirement planning and saving for retirement. $8k to $10k is quite comfortable if you're staying in HDB and not owning a car.
Singaporean think its inflation. The government and companies just tax or charge you higher due to higher average income per capita.
Why didn't you interview your mother, father, grandmother and grandfather?
Thanks for the suggestion. Maybe in a future video
Hi! I am a Filipino planning to explore job opportunities in Singapore. Would 3k be enough considering rent prices there?
U need at least $5000
wahlao eh I sense some chemistry at 3:54 LOL, am i wrong?
I plan to work till I die
The tips keep yourself busy thats true
As long as it’s busy with the right things 😅
Now he your bestie liao
hahaha bestie and colleague
Can i treat u coffee(٠-٠)(:
It depends lah. If you are single and living with family, $3000 is enough.
For a family, we need $10000 at least
1BR rent 4k, how 3k is comfortable ahahaha
Correct. Everywhere every country, the cost of living is high, not just in Singapore.
yeah! right
salary needs to be tied to cost of living, not set amount as money value is continually changing.
SG has serious issues which I think nobody can solve it. Very sad
@@steventay5834 huh like what
@@Sethisfy
Many 40+ will lose their jobs and will end up self employed. More people suffering from anxiety and depression
Hello ask how much money is enough for PAp government.you Singapore people are not 2cents.without pap you are nothing
“ unlimited salary “ I also want 😅
Ask Kelvin ;) ;)
i also want
Kelvin ...talked C la...say this n say that
I don't get it. When they say 5,000, are they including rent? 5K easily goes to my rent. I need 15K to live comfortably in Singapore.
After paying off my home loan at 40 plus, my family monthly expenses is about 10k. Now i am retired i still need 10k because of inflation 😅😅😅 SG too small so need to fly out monthly to de stress 😂😂😂
Is not how much u earn, is how much u able to save!
Indeed!
Are those numbers in US dollars ?
Singapore dollars .
If $5k for sgl u can buy many lv bag;)
I think very few singaporeans want to admit that spending power is dependent on earning power, and earning power is directed related to one's talents, skills, abilities and attitude. The Complainers and Haters like to kpkb and blame govt and demand "equality and fairness" but how can pay/rewards be "equal" when Nature/God distributes talents unfairly.
