you can put the sweep mesh into a layer and have it set to reference mode, so you can easily select the curve and edit it without messing up the sweep mesh. Assuming thats what you mean by separating the mesh and the curve. If you mean you want the curve to stop affecting the sweep mesh, simply just clear history on sweep mesh. unless autodesk suddenly hire more developers, i dont see it happening anytime soon. btw i have tried Chat gpt to create scripts. works for basic stuff, but fails on more complex stuff.

Only used the curve method and also a fast way is to sculpt the knot in Zbrush and either use that or use as reference.
