reminds me of the episode in which homer gets to design a car. a bold statement!
I do like the idea but the execution looks like that car Homer designed
Still laughing, perfect reference! .."This monstrosity costs €15,000?? I'm ruined!!"
LMAO
you made me choke on my coffee, jerk! :P
but no, seriously, that just nailed it
..
GOTTA be one of the top 10 ep. of the simpsons
It looks like a Super Soaker. I want it.
Michel Gondry & Wes Anderson opened a studio.......
Fisher Price must have been in on the meetings when this was being designed ;) very cool though.
Previous designs look mostly the same.
That recorder seems to be a fantastic machine!! Too bad I don't have neither a use for 24 channel recordings outside the studio nor the 15k€ lying around.. But I'd love to work with it sometime! And I really appreciate how passionate this guy is about their products, he really seems to know the gear inside out. I hate those presentations when the guy is either too cool to actually present the product or he doesn't know a thing about it..
Never seen a design like that, sexy
Reminds me of a "My First Sony."
LOL I thought the same XD
Wow! Pieces of art!
This is what happens when you ask Homer Simpson to design a portable multi-track recorder. You can't knock the function or build, but design wise it looks like My First Mixer from Fisher Price. And this is a portable recorder, in the way that the Yamaha CS-80 is a portable synth - if it is that portable then you carry it.
Yeah, I want one!
It looks about as ergonomic as a barbed wire glove. Over-engineered and over priced IMHO.
Very cool like the idea but the size to big make a portable with 8 tracks !
Sweet design
this thing is pretty damn cool ...... but i don't know about that design aesthetic
I'll keep my Zoom R-8
Michael Bath my Zoom H6 is more then I need but Mmm. Would love that "portable" one.
15,000 euros. Uh yeah, okay.
It looks like an Aliens 3 prop.
This thing can is from Area 51. It looks like the aliens from the game Halo made this thing. I think it's pretty cool.
Who designed it, PeeWee Herman?
Nice devices, the price though... :)
You have to be single non parent to own one of these. Imagine trying to explain to your spouse spending 7k-15k on what looks like a toy. Now imagine trying to keep your 4 year old from going berserk the moment they see it.
I would stick to the Nagra approach.
Is it waterproof?
Somewhat. Supposed to be weather proof and subzero temp proof.
Tim Burton Designs
Looks like a Tefal Opitgrill on steroids too 🤣🤣🤣
this thing looks like a 90's RAVE machine
looks great though, really unique design, kind of old school.
looks good
very nice design, both aesthetically and functionally..too bad about the stratospherical price. There is nothing inherently original in this that could not be replicated with much smaller pricetag.
Is this the dawn of uselessly high end bourgeoise audio rec equipment?
Looks like it's aimed at the professional market. Which can afford it. Looks like they are deeply linked to the film industry, and you gotta know that in the film industry, gears are rented to productions companies by equipment companies. Those equipment companies are the main customers for those kinds of products.
It's probably different in hollywood where multi-billions dollars corporations can afford to buy their own equipment, but in France and Europe in general, this is 100% how it works in the film industry.
And honestly for really high end products, it's not "that" expensive.
Anusideral yes you are correct, it didn't cross my mind ..I just saw this as mega-portastudio on anabolic steroids :P
:p
Yeah after doing some research, it really looks like it's one of the best high end audio portable recorders on TV/movie sets. At least its predecessor the cantar-x2 was.
Seems it's sealed for water and dust too, gazillion of connections, etc.. Things totally overkill for any music application.
Anusideral nothing looks portable about it and the design looks very bad.
Don't take my word for it. Google what people who use them are saying about them. Which I did.
it looks like a fisher price toy
Zoom reocorder from craigslist for $80 and it records great!
fucusing
Its fuckin hideous
that is one ugly and bulky machine. Looks like a toy too.
As ugly as it looks, it's a pro-level machine.
didn't say otherwise.
super tired of wonky aesthetics, wasted space and confusion for product identity. bugs me so much.
I think it looks like a mix (no pun intended) between the modern Lamborghini design and a small childs toy. I don't like it at all.
the color coding looks silly but it's super useful in practice
Might be useful but I think those knobs look a little cheap imo
They are weather-proof knobs.
But they look like they are made of cheap plastic.
