Oh my, Paul slips up & then the Killer Geese attack him, what a day. Maybe Paul could drill some holes in those little cupboards, or get some those hanging dehumidifiers, they might work better, they look like bags that hang, you could hook them inside the cupboard doors, B&M & Home bargains sells them. TFS, & take care you 3. 👍🐶
Poor Paul, you're going to break a hip falling down like that. Between you, Liz and Master Ernie you'll all end up in A&E. Perhaps a walking stick would help you all maintain your balance. You could get one that has a fold out seat for rest periods. Take care, watch your steps, be well ~ Hugs🤗Lacy, Mike & Hamish 🐾
@@uponreflection Oh dear, no! No broken bones for you guys or Erine. They say that when you break a hip you never recover ~ but that's what "they" say and what do "they know" anyway.😆🤣 Take care and we hope you guys have loads more sunny days ahead. 🌅😎
Looks like the towpaths are getting better so Ernie won't be so muddy, it was funny watching/listening to him joining in with the dogs as ypu went past 😆
Hi Gary, yes the tow paths do seem to be drying out a little now thank goodness. That was probably the first bark off that Ernie didn't actually start himself 🤣 always has to have the last word (bark) though if you noticed. 🤣😃
We have humidifiers all the way through our boat from front to back, it's surprising how quickly they fill with water. I buy eight at a time, generally keeps the damp away, especially if drying washing onboard too👍👍
We have got an electric dehumidifier now and every morning I open the doors to vent and allow air to circulate. Hopefully this will help, fingers crossed 😀
We live on a sailboat in the tropics and also suffer with damp/mould. I use the same dehumidifier tubs you show in the episode, and they fill up fast! It's a constant battle. I used to spray a white vinegar and water mix to keep the mould off, and it worked well. In the last few years I've swapped to a tea tree oil and water spray, which also works (and smells nicer). Mould seems to hate eucalyptus oil too... 🙏🍄😆
Been great watching your last few vlogs. I grew up around polesworth so know Pooley well (I used to live just down the road from co-op you sent Paul to last week😂) and we spent our first year on the canal around Atherstone and Tamworth.
Oh no don't bring up the 3 hrs walk, he's only just gotten over that one 🤣🤣 it's a lovely area isn't it. I was at ventura Retail Park in Tamworth last week...all the shops there, I was in my element. 😀
We live in the tropics (don't be jealous - it is too hot and too humid almost all the time these days. 9:40 at night as I type this and still over 30 centigrade outside with high humidity. Melting!). We have big problems with humidity in cupboards. After trying dehumidifiers like you showed in the vlog and also electric ones we ended up resorting to finding clear plastic boxes with tight(ish) fitting lids and using those. If you dig around in home improvement shops and online you can usually find ones that fully fit your cupboards without wasting space. For boxes holding stuff we don't use much (like jumpers etc. for when we visit home in UK) we add a cloth bag of silica gel (bought the silica gel pellets by the kilo on Ali Express) and put it near the front so we can easily see if it has changed colour. If it has we take it out, dry it out in a slightly warm grill and put it back once the colour has changed back. It does a great job of saving things from damp and mildew. We tried large zip-lock vacuum bags but they are such a pain to use unless on things left for 1/2 a year at a time. With the boxes it is easy to see what is in each box (can add labels too) and that there is nothing going wrong in the boxes. I hope that helps.
I'm not jealous much...who am I kidding, I'm really jealous. I'd prefer to be hot than cold 🥶 thank you so much for the tips I will definitely be looking to get some plastic boxes just so I can have peace of mind but for now we have got a plug in dehumidifier and I open the doors each morning to allow air flow so hopefully that will help while I search out the right size plastic containers. Thanks 😀 😊
@@uponreflection Nowadays the tendency is to live life like termites. From a cooled house into a car with air con to a building with air con and by air con car back home again. Venturing outdoors is only done very early morning or late at night. Even at midnight it can be 30+ degrees. Very hard to keep physically active. No one walks here - even to the local shop. I have realised that once I retire I should return to UK so that I can be more active for the sake of staying fit and healthy. If not I won't be retired for long this side of the daisies.
I watched a film the other day, forget what it was called, but it was so hot that they slept during day and went to work and lived there lives at night time, complete switch of their body clocks. If you do come back to the UK maybe ensure you do it in summer months to try amd get your body climatised again before the winter hits 😉😀
Good night Ernie and liz and Paul I love watching your videos of you and your adventures on your narrow boat I hope that you all are well and enjoying your adventures aboard your narrow boat we're they peckish I hope they did not hurt you Paul
The ones under my bed are mainly in those hoover bag things that you get but good idea with the bin liners...Paul would probably throw them out with the rubbish though 🤣🤣
Dammit! I'd of paid good money to see the " Attack of the killer ducks " haha! Liz don't worry about doing something wrong, we've all made mistakes on the canal that's why its a contact sport, Paul you can get little round vents for cupboard in chrome and different colours Ebay or Amazon sell em 70mm. put two in each cupboard to create air flow. Canals took a battering this year with the wind and rain trees down everywhere. ( Liz he's definately losing the plot with Ernie ) haha! Spring is in the air but it will still bite you in the bum before winters through lol Great vlog as always stay safe guys :)
It certainly is biting us now with this wet, misog, dull, grey weather. Makes such a difference when the skies are blue, even if its cold just seeing a blue sky always cheers us up. I so wish I was there to see this so called horrific bird attack 🤣 not only to laugh but to obviously film and share rhe fun with you 🤣🤣 We have a dehumidifier now and every morning I open the doors to let air in so will see how we get on with that and if need be put vents in as you said. 😀

I enjoyed that, especially around amington, I have my eye on a house there to develop, when the current one is sold. You would have been fine to moor up in Hopwas and go away for a few days
Hi Paul, good luck with your future development. We always try to put the boat in a marina if we leave it over night. Nothing to do with the area its more peace of mind that there are people around and other boats etc if anything were to go wrong. 😀
That was fun, half hearted barking from Ernie. How’s he doing? He’s looking confident. Wish I’d seen the great fall and Geese attack - where’s the camera when you need it? 😂
Hi there. Ernies doing really well, getting on great with his boat lifestyle. Still gets a bit funny sometimes around other dogs but usually only when I'm about so must be a protective thing. Would have loved to have seen the full on bird attack and fall myself 🤣😀
*Morena Liz, Paul & Ernie 🙂 Paul drill some holes into the cupboard door or if possible on the side and put mesh on the inside.. so it will allow air to flow thru but also stop any bugs getting in. Oh I do wish there was a video of Paul falling over and getting bitten by the geese... hehehehe 🙂 Ernie was getting all the latest news from the dogs along the way... doggies do love to gossip... about how there life is with other doggies. 🙂 Awesome scenery along the canals... I hope the clean up crews get rid of the fallen trees 🙂 Finally we see some Magnet fishing... ok it was after they had finished... But I do hope they moved all that scrap off the pathway and moved it all to a place that was assessible for the scrapman to come & collect it. 🙂 Sadly some just leave a horrible mess behind. See you three next week 🙂nz.*
Hi Andrea, I so wish I would have seen this so called horrific goose attack too🤣 the magnet fishing family took all what they had pulled out, they sell it I believe for scrap and weigh it in. At the moment we keeping doors ajar and now have a dehumidifier so hopefully that will help with the dampness in cupboard without the need to drill holes that would be seen. Fingers crossed. 🤞😃
Always such a treat, your vlogs! Luckily Erns is there to keep some order! Maybe you could check out the Lunos air recovery system to keep the moisture down on the boat but i guess cupboards near the waterline are always going to be tricky ❤
Hi Eric, we have got a dehumidifier now which, fingers crossed, does seem to help and I now open the units every morning to allow the air to circulate through. The bedroom which is at the front of boat has always had issues with condensation, don't think it helps that the water tank is also there too. Oh well not long now until warmer weather with any luck 😉😊
Hi Liz, Paul and Captain Ernie Liz and Paul you two are such a wonderful couple, you were meant for each other. Liz please remember to walk backwards when you open and close lock gates. It would be horrible to know you had injured your Achilles tendon. Captain Ernie I have two questions for you. First is your coat hair or fur? You have such a handsome coat and you don't seem to shed. The second question pertains to an observation of other boating dogs and cats. Would you agree with me that dogs and cats who live on boats tend to have more personality and be more alert than "land lubbers"? Paul any thoughts about removing the door to the cupboard, that holds Liz's clothes, with a louvered one to allow air circulation. You guys are GREAT, Mark Alberta, Canada
Hi Mark, Ernie has a curly fleece coat which is non-shedding and requires regular grooming. As for the alertness, it's hard to say as Ernies always been very alert but I'd say noises around boat etc he is less bothered about than he would ha e been in the house. Can't say I've noticed it as a general rule though with other boat dogs and we haven't actually come across any boat cats yet. Tue cupboards in the bedroom we are propping doors open each morning at the moment and plan to possibly put some little vents in. Also using a dehumidifier in that room now in the hope that helps. Lock gates I do generally open and close backwards as often as I can but sometimes they are so tough they just need that brut force frontwards first to get them going. 😊
