He entertained so many of us for so long. Very sadly missed and the same goes for Don Rich and the rest of the boys. May they all Rest in Peace. 💔🙏🌷🎸🎻🪕🤠
This almost makes me sad because you don't hear country music like this anymore. Happy birthday, Buck. You woulda been 87 today. I miss your sound, and really miss Don Rich's twangy Telecaster. You'll live forever!!!
You probably dont care but if you are stoned like me atm you can stream all of the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Have been binge watching with my girlfriend for the last days =)
It must have been great to be around people like Buck and Don. Im from UK and we knew about all the great TV shows you had over in the states, but we never got to see them. It is only since UA-cam that we have seen all this great country music. It makes me even more envious of what you had all over your TV network in that era of proper country music. Marty Stewart came to UK two years ago and he had a guy in the band that reminded me a lot of Don Rich, he was always smiling, I forget his name.
this song was #1 in 1958, I was 13, they blew the radio up with this, year of the dual headlights, and tail fins. Buck introduced electrics for the first time in country! country music's finest.
God, I would've killed to see him live before he died. Back in the day would have been even better. We'll never have another Buck, just like we'll never have another Waylon, or Hank or another Merle or Willie when their gone. I'm really truly envious of the people that got to be around when this was still considered music
ya agree great player terry. great band with style. u know thats what its about people playin with style and feeling. and buck was one of the greatest ever stylists in country music. his music will live FOREVER. from a g jones fan
pretty good for a first hit - one country singer/songwriter; cool clear voice with cool outfit during this performance. steel guitar player sounds great in both the electric guitar; unique with sitting in 3 chairs. kept playing the song over & over.
Never knew how great he was until recently. I watched Hee Haw as a kid. It was a fun show but I just didn't take Buck and Roy seriously as musicians. I was a kid, what did I know? Now in my lat 50s I've become a country fanatic, and Buck is the best. Love that Bakersfield sound. I like Dwight Yoakam a lot too. He has paid homage to Buck his whole career. Buck 'em ya'll. Just Buck 'em all.
..played this song over and over in the bar in summer of 1970...wow what a weekend...not enough sleep and just 'feeling good' enjoying my friends..music...and drinks..
@hotrod02100 When Don Rich died, it was like loosing a brother to Buck. I saw them interview Buck back in the 1990's and the subject of Don's death came up. After all those years, you could tell that it was almost like it had happened just yesterday to him, and his music was never the same after that fact. It was almost like the fun was gone and after 1974, Buck and the Buckaroos really didn't do much after that. Really sad.
This was recorded way after 1988, the year he restarted his carrier and may be also after his oral cancer periode (1990). SO PITY. His typical uptempo "locomotion rhythm" was already dramatically slowing down. But Still: BUCK was THE BEST.
Well every buddy tells me that I'm a fool. And that I should have never put my faith in you. And way deep down inside I guess I know it's true. But no one ells can make feel the way you do.
Buck is real country, Legendary but yes Don Rich was a massive part of the original sound. Its good though that Terry Christopherson is not trying to copy Don . Hey I need to say this Don Rich was and had to be the best harmony vocal, lead guitarist , fiddle player any one could have wanted I know Im not alone saying this either.
He was much better in his earlier years, and he much less flirted with that horrible kitsch, but nevertheless he was a great performer and I love him. But this performance is OK and I don't mind the tempo is somehow slower than it usually is. Such changes are a good thing.
Wonder who's that one asshole and what was he/she doing here in the first place ? I had a co-worker a couple of years back who said he loved country music. So I lent him a mix cd of some old school stuff like this and he said he hated it. Turned out he likes that stuff they play on the radio that they call country music . But , when he was exposed to the real deal , it wasn't to his liking. Go figure.

Buck Owens was a genius and irreplaceable in the Country Music world.

@Patrick Luka yea, have been watching on instaflixxer for months myself :)
That bass line...😊
Yes! Reminds me of Buffalo Bruce Barlowe with Commander Cody.
Buck is truly missed. He was there for many, many years, and entertained us for decades. R.I.P. Buck.....AMEN
I loved Buck Owen's...Great entertainer, beautiful songs.
Top notch music.
Country music Bakersfield style. Can't be topped by the Nashville pretenders.
Today It's about media and show, not talent

Nearly fifty years on,this is still a great song.Buck always surrounded himself with tremendous musicians.
I love the sound of a steel guitar and a fiddle
One of my heros..I have sung a lot of his songs thru the years and harmonized with a man who sounded just like Buck..RIP Buck and Don
Tony Villanueva?
Our country band played a month of weekends at the Olympia Eagles club in 1975. Don Rich's folks came out every Saturday. I got to meet them
Great Performance Buck is real country!
It's great to see him performing his very first hit all over again. Good showing.

Bass player is on fire.
That steel player does Ralph Mooney proud. Great vid - thanks for uploading!
Anybody know who he is? Looks a bit like a younger Mike Johnson.
The early 70s what a memory and a sad one at that.
A little bit of country died when Buck died.
A lot of Buck died when Don Rich died.
a LOT of country died when Buck passed.
pretty good for a first hit - one country singer/songwriter; cool clear voice with cool outfit during this performance. steel guitar player sounds great in both the electric guitar; unique with sitting in 3 chairs. kept playing the song over & over.
Listen how good they sound! Buck dont mess around, man!

I love Buck! Thank you for sharing.

Best country tune ever! Screw Nashville!

This was Country music not the garbage that comes out of Nashville today.
..played this song over and over in the bar in summer of 1970...wow what a weekend...not enough sleep and just 'feeling good' enjoying my friends..music...and drinks..

Fabulous ! But do I see a sadness in Bucks face here ? The sparkle he had when he was with Don Rich seems to be missing.
Yeah, he had to miss Don
I think you're right - knew them both and Buck was devastated by Don's death.
This was recorded way after 1988, the year he restarted his carrier and may be also after his oral cancer periode (1990).
SO PITY. His typical uptempo "locomotion rhythm" was already dramatically slowing down. But Still: BUCK was THE BEST.
thanks Terry!😀
Amen
rip buck
Well every buddy tells me that I'm a fool. And that I should have never put my faith in you. And way deep down inside I guess I know it's true. But no one ells can make feel the way you do.
it's not the same without dangerous don rich!!!!!!! but still a million times better than the crap they're calling country music nowadays!!!
The reason country music is no good today is because it is designed for 16 year olds. The good stuff was written and sung for adults.
Buck is real country, Legendary but yes Don Rich was a massive part of the original sound.

@wa1ufo Screw Nashville Hello Bakersfield
@hotrod02100 same could be said about the harmony
buck owens by smokey jansz
Buck was great, but he juat wasn't the same without Don. And it shows, borh in his music and his face
was there a reason why buck was wearing a long trench coat?
He was much better in his earlier years, and he much less flirted with that horrible kitsch, but nevertheless he was a great performer and I love him. But this performance is OK and I don't mind the tempo is somehow slower than it usually is. Such changes are a good thing.
The back up singer looks like Fonzie
I love Buck, but this version is painfully slow...
It's cause he was truly getting old
+c6e9 I like this tempo. It gives the song a little extra meaning
