To be honest, I prefer it in Sharon's hands. It truly complements her, particularly with that hairstyle.

Played the 4 string version over the weekend, a friend had just bought one. This bass is a dream to play. After 15 mins, I had forgotten it wasn't one of mine.
As always, Ian is killing it and makes me wanna play every single bass/effects pedal he covers since his videos 👌🏻

That bass has really grown on me over the past few months since first seeing it.
I'd love to have a jam on one.

Sheldon Dingwall handed one to me during his European tour and the sound coming out of it is amazing. I was truly blown away. So much I didn't try the prototype factory Super P or the John Taylor signature Rio Bass, because I forgot they were there. I'm embarrassed that I fanboyed way too much meeting Sheldon. Such a nice guy. The finishes page of the custom shop "/custom-shop/finishes/" still need better pictures and the colour should be listed on the other pictures that are better lit throughout the site.

I have a Dingwall Leland Sklar Signature model. Man, is it a fantastic bass. Sounds great. String tension is wonderfully consistent across all the strings so it's a pleasure to play. Very easy to get used to the fanned frets. And no, I don't play metal with it. It has very versatile tone and works well with whatever.

6 strings in d-rock shape would look so sick😍 cos of wnat i see- its not so easy to acces higher frets... but for 99% people maybe 5 strings enough

Love the drocs but so far out my price range, it would literally take me 5 most likely more years to save for one. So I live through hearing others play em lol

    3 questions:
Is it balanced when using a strap standing up?
Does it tilt forward like t-birds do when standing up with a strap?
Does this apply to standards as well as customs?

    • @57precision
      @57precision 2 місяці тому +2

Yes perfectly balanced. Headstock stays exactly where you point it. It tilts forward very, very slightly. Took a day or two for me to get used to it compared to the usual Fender-shaped object. If you get this bass, you gotta play it standing up. The huge upper body wing puts your arm at an awkward angle and I didn't find it comfortable for long periods. If you tilt it classical guitar style (like Ian is doing) it's not as bad.

No neck dive! Yes, this applies to both the custom and standard versions.

Two things to consider; playing chords is harder and you better love Dingwall strings.

The major "down" that always prevented me from buying one is rhe fact you can't buy the strings you like anymore.
If the brand doesn't make the good size for each string to fit the neck you have to buy somewhere else...

It's not based on pianos. The multiscale design was used on lutes 3-400 years ago when pianos didn't even exist.

The redesign of the thunderbird shape is terrible inmho, horrible little low horn, horrible Dingwall headstock and sliced bottom make it look butchered, and the typical dingwall meh pickups, no thunderbird anymore, also for that hammer technique would be better a bloddy chapman stick? At least would’ve been nice to hear how it sound just plucked, pic and slap…
