Hi all. I've added some captions to the Cybotron videos to ensure everyone is aware of the latest works of co-founders Steve Maxwell Von Braund and Geoff Green. I'll be keeping them there for the rest of 2023 as I think it provides a historical undertone, but happy to hear suggestions for a better way if too many people find the captions annoying. Also in the description, here are the links for both Braund and Green's latest works: Steve Maxwell Von Braund - Return To Monster Planet (2020) artist.sptfy.com/SteveMaxwell... Geoff Green - Exodus to Genesis (2022) artist.sptfy.com/GeoffGreen
My favorite part was the video wobble artifact at 2:03. Having grown up watching VHS bootlegs until they degraded to unviewable noise, that sound is pure magic to my ears.
@@A5PEN-W0LF Thanks for the info. But if we are quibbling over 11 year old youtube comments... you are countering an assertion that was never made. VHS was merely mentioned as being the inspiration for my nostalgic appreciation of wow and flutter artifacts.
i had two of cybotrons albums....have never got over the music....awesome and surreal this track is my faorite tho i know it goes for longer than 3 minutes..
Hi all. I am pleased to announce that Geoff Green's solo album, and the first publically released work since 1976, is now out on all streaming platforms. I hope you enjoy Exodus to Genesis: open.spotify.com/album/1cmx0p4YRvoa9NaTNQKFhY?si=-CCZSmz6TICjoOxPAyUbbQ
Drummer looks like Brian Eno, Johnny Winter and one of the Schenker bros had a multidonor love child raised in Xanadu. And that key change at 2:03 - glorious! Great tune really :)
I bought two of their CDs some 20 years ago. I find them sounding more like Frenchies Ange, Clearlight/Cyrille Verdeaux, Pulsar, Heldon/Richard Pinhas, Catharsis and even Space. Also somewhat like French/UK band Gong, led by fellow Aussie Daevid Allen (who died a year ago), as well as - of course - 70s Hawkwind and Tim Blake (ex-Hawkwind, ex-Gong) solo back in the day. Great stuff, and a big THANK YOU to you, Mr. shazzatpm!
Wow !!!! can't believe my eyes. I was looking for Cybotron for my facebook group but never imagined to find a video-clip ! I first airplayed them on chilean fm radio back in 1983 and then almost weekly at Futuro Fm. Surely Cybotron has remained a TOP band for me and am glad technology is helping promote this part of the australian music. Chris Neal and Charles Wain (Groover Myers - who scored Peter Weir's THE LAST WAVE) are also among my aussie faves :) 3 thumbs up.
Very cool stuff! I was in a couple prog rock bands from the early 80's through the early 90's and . . . most people know that was THE WORST time to try to make it as a prog rock band, especially in the USA. :-/
@jacobkay There's also a Farfisa Organ and two Mini Korg 700, which you can hear clearly towards the end, playing some bass notes. Yes, I am a sad synth nerd :-)
@WolfgangAmadeusF i had two of these albums on vinyl years ago and have never forgotten the music awesome and surreal....now i am looking to buy the three albums they made...not having much luck tho... ethellred
@minimomaximo Yeah, I have been meaning to. I do have all three albums complete. I believe there are a couple of torrents now around. I doubt my dad would care, as he is well aware of the internet's impact on royalties and whatnot. I'm visiting him tomorrow so I will ask him then! We were actually contemplating making an official website.
Hey everyone! I noticed yesterday that Australia's youth, alternate station, Triple J, has listed Cybotron's most popular album, Colossus, on the shortlist of Australia's Top 100 albums. If you guys could take a little time and head to abc.net.au/triplej/hottest100/alltime/11/ and click C and vote 'Cybotron -Colossus', it would mean the world to me and my dad, Geoff Green. Cheers guys. Peace. x
@rosieanneliese Their 80's stuff? The band disbanded in 1980; the last album was released in 1980, Implosion ,but did not consist of the classic line-up. Are you sure you are not confused with the US band, Cybotron, which came to prominence in the 80's?
"An eclectic sound of all styles " What must he have thought? If I mix everthing, I can find a large audience, at least? Be aware: If you mix all colors you get s****y brown.
Have both the albums bought in Melbourne I'm 70 now and still thrash them saw them playing a few times live ===brilliant
They were so ahead of their time. Their 80's stuff is the best, timeless yet nostalgic. awesome.
Who? What? WOW! Thankyou UA-cam for putting this in my feed. I am floored how good this is!

Also, I''m more than happy to hear from other members/related to other members if they, too, have new works out. All members deserve to be celebrated.

this track is my faorite tho i know it goes for longer than 3 minutes..
Yeah man, that's how you do it. You go in gong first.
I loved Cybotron synth music from the heady 70-80s. Strangely meditative.
Une découverte ! Merci !
i just bought their first vinyl from a thrift shop yesterday for $55. it's in good condition and i feel pretty good about it
how is that a thrift shop?
They more than lived up to the name, Cybotron. Great job.
One of the best songs ever recorded

@shazzatpm you can tell your dad that his music is trully amazing and still inspiring for the new generation (23y here). cheers from portugal!
It does recall PF's Live at Pompei (1972), yeah!
This is GREAT !!!!
At first, I thought this was the Gibb brothers finally getting their act together.
Wow this is actually a pretty interesting band compared to the America band we all know. Cool tune.
Thanks, Aaron :)
E P I C . ...and the glimpses of Aussie suburbia i.t. background almost transport it into a parallel universe...
Live at Pompeii.

As far as the band is concerned, all of the material is outstanding, no exceptions!! Okay?!
Thanks for the uploads, shazzatpm!

Mighty and Majestic
@jacobkay There's also a Farfisa Organ and two Mini Korg 700, which you can hear clearly towards the end, playing some bass notes. Yes, I am a sad synth nerd :-)

i had two of these albums on vinyl years ago and have never forgotten the music awesome and surreal....now i am looking to buy the three albums they made...not having much luck tho...

If not a video, at least some clip with Medusa. It's a great track and it would be nice to post it on Tube.
Well, that ruled.
live in pompeii was filmed in 1972, this video is from 1977. Thus, Pink Floyd stuff is earlier.
fuck yeah \m/
Great stuff. I've found one album (Colossus) on emusic - it'd be great if Implosion and Cybotron could also be listed...
Damn, like watching a Hong Kong kung fu film
Great!
I'd love to hear a metal band cover it too ;p
Best Video
Hmmmm.... I wonder of they ever saw Live At Pompeii?? hehe
Mag-effin-nificent

We were actually contemplating making an official website.
The videos I posted are the only three filmed.
epic.
Great song of the great times... There wer no DJs, no "PressButton" players, no sh+t... Just synthesizers, ideas, feelings and playing abilities...

@shazzatpm im pretty sure rosie is, many people get the two confused.
Sweet Jesus...
that sound system ahahahah
smells like OLD BOOKS
A video of them? They never recorded a ivdeo for Medusa.
a 2:04. i really miss that in the old beta and vhs
Wonders if M83 knew about this when he made Midnight City....
Ben B no comparison dude...
I was born in 1977
Psicodelia Floydiana em excesso . Marcaram época numa Alemanha dividida .
There is some resemblance with Pink Floyd, yes. Still, Cybotron is GREAT !
South Melbourne Gas Plant, Albert Park
@shazzatpm Well I like both then ;p
The old Melbourne gas works
Would you be so kind and post Medusa?
i need some new pants... :O
@minimomaximo Do you mean putting up the studio versions of songs onto UA-cam?
Daft Punk should do a remix :)
I think he's implying the electro-music scene...
wierd...kinda cool...
I could not see the entire PA system setup in this video. Is it quadraphonic by chance?
All they need is a Guitar and There goes Muse :)))///]]
Awesome retro electronica! I have the albums Cybotron, Colossus and Implosion. Can anyone tell me where this footage was shot?
1012egg i work with the drummer. it was shot in Melbourne. If you want more specifics i can ask him.
"An eclectic sound of all styles " What must he have thought? If I mix everthing, I can find a large audience, at least?
Be aware: If you mix all colors you get s****y brown.
good stuff, shame about the saxophone though
;-)
Capodopera
Where was this filmed, Melbourne?
Yep!
Visually it is very much copied from PInk Floyd at Pompej...
Visually it looks like a plagiarism of Pink Floyd live in Pompeii
Rhizosphere do you know which petroleum depot exactly?
@Rhizosphere Greek? Pompeii is fully Roman period!
too long to get to the chorus, lol
Acoustics and mixing are bad. This cut was better then the last 2.
Dreadful
