- What does food cost while souk shopping in Tamraght Morocco? We visit the souk to vlog how much food costs here during covid19 quarantine state of emergency. We explore fruits, vegetables, honey, amlou, and spices. The cost of living in Morocco varies depending on your lifestyle.
Listen to rich rich mix of over four languages being spoken in this video with Amazigh, Darija, French, and English being spoken here in Morocco.
A Souk is a north African market. Much like a farmers market in the United States. I fell in love with vegetables as I explored veganism and vegetarianism in my early yoga days.. How much does olive oil cost in Morocco? How much does amlou cost? How much does honeycomb cost? How much do things cost in Morocco?
In this video the cost of, tomatoes, potatoes, grapes, figs, cherries, avocados, lentils, chickpeas, curry, bananas, watermelon, olive oil, amlou, honeycomb, and cauliflower.
The conversion of dirham to real is 1 to 20.
Things have cooled off here during coronavirus in Morocco as things have heated up in America with protests. I am an American who left America to live in Morocco, now, I am stuck in Morocco.
Tune in to this Moroccan travel vlog from a Slovenian and an American between Agadir and Taghazout.

In general in Morocco honey is expensive but don t forget that we got one of the best quality honey in the world... the same level of manuka honey from new Zélande who cost 200 dollars a kilo..
Before buy honey u must try and taste for make the best deal !! Keep going
Well said brother
Thanks for the info and advice. It is the best honey I have tried, so many varieties here.
We have the same here too, there's one kind of honey that costs more then 300€ for 1kg.
The one you find in the market is the normal one, that the trees is made of are all over the place, like orange honey, calitos honey eg..
The expensive one is made of rare herbs that u can find only in the montain and difficult places to reach and also that they have short time to get that kind of honey in a year, like 3 to 4 months in a year.
Hey you forgot something. Morocco has the best olive oil, just to name one.
I don't think it is the best Honey in Morocco if you looking for the best you have to go to Atlas Mountains it'll cost you 30 to 40 dollars for one kilogram
6:53 the man is trying to explain to you a word in darija that has the same prononciation as half ; akhaf it means "i am afraid " so he was like trying to give you a situation so u can understand he said the little boy is afraid (of something). So for him akhaf and a half did sound the same this is what he was trying to explain
Cheers for explaining the situation. I will show him I learned the meaning next week :)
I'm moroccan from the northeast and this looks so foreign to me,people look different, streets look diffrent, even the dialect is different,You should do another vlog showing the contrast between small villages like this one and large big cities in morocco. It's crazy how people, traditions and the entire feel of the place can change from region to region,a very diverse nation both ethnically and culturally and geographically,in one place it snows and people are redheads and in another it's scorching hot and people are dark, and the beauty of it all is that we all get along wether white, brown, black, yellow, whatever 🙋🏼♂️🇲🇦♓
Beautiful, I need to travel the country more. I like this comment, it inspires me to continue to explore!
Amen.
50 dhs for bio honey is a nice price, its very healty.
I find myself taking a piece of honey comb several times today!
Honey is expensive in Morocco cuz it’s considered as a medicine.
The eggs plate used as a hat is really funny 😄
Yes it is high quality. Hey it probably keeps you cooler than hats.
You know the men he give u honey its polit u are lucky to buy it a 5 dollars

I was in Morocco last year, I loved it. Moroccan people are very friendly and the food is delicious. I will return to visit other places soon.
So good! I agree, I have come many times, and traveled around the world.
The honeycomb you bought is a multi-flower Wilde pure honey. It's used as a medecine! That honey costs 300 to 400 Dh/kg. You made a pretty good deal!
Thanks for the info! Is that why it is so dark?
@@MorAcro yes thats why its dark u'r a moroccan now, good deal :)
After 9 very happy months in Agadir the price of a lemon, tomato, avocado were grotesque in Berlin.shopping is no fun as it is in Maroc.
This video looks like everyone is having fun!
Yes we are! Thanks for tuning in!
You’re doing great learning how to shop and interact with locals. Enjoy the organic vegetables and fruits sold in theses souks, they are like Whole Foods markets in USA. Love your blogs, your follower from Boston, MA 🌷

I just found out about your channel, and I love your videos...just tranquility and calmness.
Thank you,
PS.: Probably you'll need to learn how to bargain prices better, it is very normal to do that in all Morocco, normally you cut the price in half if it seems too expensive otherwise subtract quarter of the price.
Oh thank you for the tips, if buying in the big souk for clothes or other things this is a good tip!

That’s a reasonable prices for the honey specially it’s a pure one that you can’t find in the supermarkets. it’s not expensive at all
I hope it did not come from sugar bees.
@@MorAcro try to put it in the water..if it melts quickly then it is sugar..if it takes sometime...then it is pure...there are many methods to check your honey...As the man has not a lot of honey with him I think he needs badly the money because of Corona period, then he was obliged to sell his own honey to you hhhh

Ur very welcome, enjoy man in Agadir.
honey is expensive here 150 to 400 dh/kg, but it depends wich honey type (orange, daghmous..) did you bought, it depends also if they feed the bees sugar or they let them wander on their own and give them only water...
usually there are locals who sell these stuff and they are more thrustworthy than a random guy in souk
Hopefully this guy was not random, I actually think i have been buying from him for years in Awrir, but did not recognize him here.
1000 dh taounat’s honey is the best in Morocco

The natural pure honey is so expensive in Morocco it's 40 to 50 $ for 1 kg of honey ! And some kinds of honey can reach 100$ a kg !
So 50 dirhams u paid is a fair price I think !
From the way the honey seller talked to you and from his expression it sounds like he sold it to you for less than its worth !!!! He said : you know what ?! give me only 50 dirhams and take it !! Which means that it's less than its real price
It cost 60 to 70 dh for 1 kg
@@mrjoey725 that's the low low quality honey and usually it's orange flower honey mixed with mealted sugar !!!

50dh for pure natural honey is a good deal, in any supermarket in Europe or the states you’ll pay 5 box for a small jar of honey mixed with sugar, sirop....
Pd: nice videos, you have a new subscriber 😉
Thanks for the info! Thanks for subscribing, I remember the old bottle with the bear on it, that is what I grew up with. Not the same honey!
take this information from me as a Moroccan guy if the buyer gives you a price you must say "deer she Taman zwin" which can be translated literally "give me a good price " which means semantically "this price is not good for me,you have to make it more cheaper" note that all the words can be transelated literally as something but means another thing from the semantic side. if you wanna learn darija it's easy.
Thanks,, that is a good tip, I will use it!

Love watching your videos and must add that there is more honey and much better quality in the us than Morocco and i m speaking as a bee keeper in the us due to a lack of rain in Morocco makes it very hard for the bees to gather nectar from flours so they get fed sugar on the other hand in us specially the midwest it rains lot so much better environment for the bees to produce good honey at the end of the day you got to enjoy what the real life suppose to about looking forward watching your updates thanks
