- WILDCAMP 154 , finally camped at Loch Etchachan after 3 attempts.Mark headed home ,me and Stevie stayed for a very cold but thankfully windless night.

Thanks mate I could only imagine how cold it would have been if there was any wind. Rudoph have more than a red nose and Santa's bulging sack be cracking up.

All light up... All shook up we'd be singing if the wind got up. Freezing, it was not so much jingle bells as jangle balls lol. Have a great 2022.

Its always been tagged the highest body of water of its size and TBH I always call it that. I googled there is a higher one officially, I suppose there could also be lochans that could claim the title. ATB.

Great conditions Eddie, unbeatable when it's like that. Aye Loch Aa'n is pronounced like the woman's name (Ann). Not sure where they get "Avon" from, but it's the anglicised version. I got slagged at work when I said the Cairngorms takes no prisoners. 😆
Totally still and silent beautiful and bleak at the same time, wonderful place. I can imagine if Julie hadn't got the weather report and we had headed off and got to Loch Ecthachan and the storm hit....

Got lucky with the weather mate pity it didn't happen on our trip. I'll go back with you's in spring, third time lucky.
Winter is an interesting and challenging time to get out into the mountains but well worth the efforts, nice one Eddie and Co, some beautiful footage mate.

Amazing video Eddie, and well done for putting idiots straight on the dangers of Scotlands mountains. The fatality rate is worse than the French alps , and only a few years ago an elite Swiss mountaineering team (4 I believe) died on a route up tnf of the Ben. Its all about respect, planning, preparation and enjoyment. Two lads died up the Lowthers a few years ago in the winter......and we call them "wee hills".love your channel......it was one of the first 👍

Scotlands mountains in winter has a bite worse than its bark. Yes very experienced people die too of course maybe pushing the envelop and plain bad luck with avalanches. Thankfully i've never been in serious trouble. ATB

Outstanding trip Eddie! Great to see Scotland's Number One out in the snow! The drive out with Sinclair's music was perfect! You can't beat scenery like that, and a cloud inversion and stars! The tents at night with Christmas lights looked very festive. Our coldest night so far was -7f and we are due 4 to 6 inches of snow tomorrow. Great way to start the New Year! Take care, Ossie
Winters finally arrived Ossie, it was great to finally get to Loch Ecthachan. Snow in Scotland can disappear as fast as it appears. I wish you a better year in 2022.ATB.
Bitter cold has arrived, -7f with winds gusting to 35mph! Still not as cold as back in the 80's when we seen -20f for over a week at a time. I hope 2022 is filled with great adventures for you Eddie!

I love the fog bow at around 6:24 to 6:30. It looked like a friendly omen!

Visited Loch Etchachan a couple of times and managed to get a couple of camps in. Finally one last year, pretty remote place, especially that view down to Loch “Ann”, … no “camp in the park” lol…
That looked a cold one Eddie, you guys did well, looks like the tarp tent is suiting you well. The views from Beinn Mheadhoin are cracking, looks like you got clearer weather for it. Too windy for me to climb the granite torr but it’s claimed hahaha

Thanks, yeah the Scarp 1 a great tent a good option when I think the Soulo isn't required. In retrospect it would have been great to have had another couple of days to explore the area. ATB.

Yes I'm pretty bad at not having a hot meal but I take alot of snacks (not just crisps and chocky bars). Next time a hot meal. ATB for 2022.

Have a great 2022 Ken. I've long thought about doing some astrophotography and time-lapses, they would add more to my vids. I just get lazy TBH once my tents set-up. I will try on next trip and see if there worth uploading... practice getting the right camera setting is required.
Epic Eddie, absolutely epic. Amazing footage, amazing camp and amazing weather - it's got it all. Definitely needs to be watched on a big screen to appreciate the beauty and serenity of the mountains in winter, but at the same time the dangers of being out somewhere so remote. Excellent Christmas lights display as well, how cool did that look! Some cracking good views and inversions - loved the transition to the summits that looked like a lunar surface, those tors were bold and stern, like giant sentinels. Aw man I could ramble on and on, best wildcamp vid I've watched in a while, well done. Great stuff - but what's gannin on with the coffee drinking? What's happened to your nice cuppa tea's? Thanks Donna couldn't get better conditions despite being cold in my bag. Cairngorms, beautiful but very bleak in the wrong weather. Trying other beverages because got fed up of sludgy tea (powder milk).

What a great part II Eddie stunning mate👍 I have always said that your Buachaille winter hike was your best film but this one runs it close:) Great footage you got up at Loch Etchachan i mind you told me a couple of years ago you wanted camp up there and i glad you finally made it what a place eh? The night footage was brilliant and congrats on another Munro👏. Loch Avon im sure is really Loch A'an and it is pronounced as Ann as you said i mind i met an older been there done it hiker from Aberdeen who explained the original OS mappers messed up big time with Scottish Gaelic/Norse highland names and a lot of corrections have been done but many still remain especially in the Deeside area. I think the 2 parts are good for my standard fare. I'm not a man for researching names (Anna) lol. I just turn up and have a wee explore but it's good when people know all the names. 2 trips I've been talking aboot for several years and that's one done. Other one is hike from bridge of orchy to loch Dochard then through to loch Etive.. I think head for hills done that one. I'm going to my sisters Monday, she's got a 65 inch 4k set so I watch it then. ATB for 2022
@@ScotsWildcamper That would be a class route that Eddie you and Matt been there? Wouldnt be surprised if Andrew did that route in fact dont think there is any place in Scotland he hasnt set foot on. Really miss his films!
