    As someone who’s had their hair grow out for over 3.5 years, I can say you’ve gotta think outside the box for tying back the hair into a bun. Once you’ve put your hair in a loop, with the hand that the hair tie has transferred into, twist it and extend your hand so the loop is being held by the hair tie while your dominant hand is still holding the loop you made with your hair. Then weave some your hair through the tie until a suitable length of hair is now a part of the loop. With the remaining hair, use your dominant hand to wrap it around the base of the loop above the hair tie, then with whatever is left of the hair tie, try to slip the end of it in, so the wrapped hair stays bundled.
    This was my best way of describing my experience, my hair is long, so for anyone that has basically 80s metal rock hair that resembles a member of Metallica, then try this tutorial. This could work for people with shorter hair, but like the video said, at least 12-24 months of hair growth
    EDIT: I have gotten a haircut since this was posted, and I donated it to charity

    I'm crying. As a woman who has had short hair her entire life, watching woman style tutorials has been so intimidating and I can't seem to get any of it right. I get so lost, I don't even know if my hair is able to do what they do. Even when I search basic tutorials. They just fly by all the products and I'm so lost on what and why and when. I didn't even know that you had to brush it. It's like they assume your mother will show you these things. I even learned to put my hairband around my wrist by trial and error. I swear this tutorial is everything I needed. Thank you so much.

    I've grown my hair since Feb 2020 and right now my hair reaches my collarbone. However, I stopped playing around with it or putting it up on a bun since I noticed I was getting a lot of hair fall compared to when I had shorter hair. This is longest my hair has been ever so I was excited to get my hair long enough to do the half bun half down hairstyle but I was worrying how much hairfall I'm noticing. I shampoo less often and I am more careful now with how I clean and style my hair. Now at the hair length that I have, I just accepted the fact that I'm losing more hair now than when I had shorter hair and mess with it but I'm making sure I don't pull too much.

    • @davidjameslee8040
      @davidjameslee8040 3 роки тому +4

      Hey there, it might seem like your hair might be falling at a quicker rate now that you have longer hair, but it might be because it’s more obvious that hair has fallen out, since it’s longer and more visible. It might also be your brushing technique, I have wavy hair and it definitely helps to use a wide-tooth comb, not anything too fine as it causes the hair to tug, and result in unnecessary hair loss. Hope that helps :)

    • @Vser88
      @Vser88 3 роки тому +1

      Trust me its normal lmao i also experience the same thing, its either ur shedding or just noticing ur hair actually falling since its longer and more visible

      @@davidjameslee8040 any more tips? I'm going through the same thing, my hair is wavy but not curly, I'm in the awkward phase to where the back is longer than the front or top but I can do half bun half down style. I wanna grow my hair out below my shoulders but I notice a lot of hair falling which kinda worries me.

    • @davidjameslee8040
      @davidjameslee8040 2 роки тому

      @@afistfuloflambsauce2641 yea, wavy hair can be a challenge, especially when growing out from short hair. Well the tips stay the same, get a wide tooth comb. Also despite what others say, brushing wet hair is perfectly fine for wavy hair, just be gentle with combing so that your hair won’t snag. Start combing from the ends and detangle. You’ll find it’ll be easier to comb as you go closer to the scalp.

    Since I have my hair upto my thigh, been growing it for 3 years and 6 months now, I tie my hair differently from this. I comb my hair first, then have a hair bind on my wrist, and grab my hair closest to my skull, and grab the remaining hair and wrap it around to the one I have being held with my other hands until the end of the remaining hair is tucked in through the band it is forming, then grab the hair band that has been on my wrist, secure everything with it and there you go... perfect man bun.
    Of course my is bulky because I have a very long hair that reaches my thigh.

    I’ve not had my haircut in roughly 12-13 months, and I can get it in a low bun. One thing however is I’ve noticed when showering I seem to lose a lot of hair :(

    Man, my bangs are by my chin already and still can't tie a decent bun, not even higher up... :(

      To do a proper messy bun I’d really recommend having your hair halfway or just all the way to your neck,which is what I have rn

      @@0omp4 you mean like halfway the neck or all the way to the shoulder?

    How do you have no frizz even though you tue hair. I've noticed when I left my hair open, healthy hair....when I shaved sides for a man bun, frizz returns...just like before getting a free flowing hairstyle!

    I have been growing out my hair for about 1 and a half years and can do a basic manbun but when I do my hair in the front sticks out and it looks like I have a m for my hair line and I don't know how to fix it, should I use more conditioner to make it softer and healthier (i barely ever use conditioner) or what? I always brush it before it do
