Loved the "family portrait". It's interesting that the babies, although they're brown, still have that pretty metallic sheen. Being raised in the subtropics, I never thought I'd consider roaches beautiful, but these certainly are. Glad you found the secret to keeping them happy and propagating.

Hello Mr and Mrs Magnifica! Thank you so much for the promised follow up on these Emerald jewels. What beautiful things they are. The little bitty babies actually look like roaches since they aren’t that amazing green color. Yuck! How quickly do they become green? Lovely little beasties. Thanks again for sharing. Now the Brazilian Blacks and I can be satisfied for a little while.
This gave me a much needed break from unpacking. Some of these boxes haven’t seen the light off day since 2014 when I moved from Colorado to Texas!😮. It is like Christmas 🎄around here. Okay, I am off to my beauty sleep. Need all the help I can get 🤣😂 I hope y’all have a wonderful day and take care of yourselves and each other. Bless you both on your coughs. Hot tang does wonders on a rough throat. With that being said, Good night! 😴🌜

Now I know there are beautiful roaches with a terrific name. I think you should just trade names with one of the males, who would henceforth be known as Dave the Roach. I’m sure Camera Lady would approve the change since she takes everything in stride, and just think of the pleasure when you give your new magnificent binomial name to a restaurant concierge.
I knew someone who knew a lot about mosquitoes from around the world and the human diseases some species carry. She told me about her favorite species, which I recall as being jewel-like deep blue and feeding from flowers, not animals.
Tonight if I dream of shining green roaches having drunken parties on fermented apples, it’s your fault.

Another wonder video, Mr. Dave-Pseudoglomerous Magnifica! We’ll all have to start to get the ball rolling on that new name for you, as it’s certainly the least we could do!) ;)
Anyhow, your channel has certainly taught me many, many things over the years, and it’s always so nice to have someone interesting to explain about these fantastic invertebrates. I mostly come to your channel to learn about spiders but I almost always leave having an appreciation for something else I totally didn’t expect.
And (ashamedly) as someone who never EVER used to like bugs of ANY kind, this is big deal indeed.

Very beautiful roaches, I love how they carry their babies on their back! I left the UK when I was thirteen and lived in the US, staying at a friends house I went in to the kitchen, I was absolutely terrified the roaches were disappearing at high speed, i had never seen a roach before and at that point i quickly decided that I never want to see them again, I would however see them again as Bristol zoo, the kids loved them! 🪳🪳🪳

I do agree with AfroRyan! They are really beautiful roaches 👋🪳💚❤👍! I don't find roaches that repulsive as an insect but of course when they are a pest in someone's house it isn't nice. I love mice and I think they are very cute as an animal but I don't want them as a pest in my house either. I do practice catch and release with insects ( I don't have house roaches ) but occasionally a spider, fly, wasp or bumblebee. Long ago I had a mouse inside ( rather my mother had it ) but I did catch it and put it outside. The little mouse was so cute though! Have a nice day as well as end of the week dear Dave and Sweet Camera Lady!

I've never seen roaches like that before. Aren't they amazing! I remember as a child finding a rare burrowing cockroach, it had big strong forelegs for digging and a black shiny skin. I took them to have them identified at the entomology department. The guy there was so wrapped he tried to bargain to get them from me, but I said no😅👍I kept them in a large bug container with peat moss. That was over 35 years ago

After an experience living in an infested apartment in San Diego, I would never have thought I could love roaches.
Now I have a tiny colony of young Dubias that are being kept as (accidental) pets. 😄 So cute. I may look into keeping those in future too.
When they’ve grown a bit, my little Cyriocosmus slings may be able to take tiny roaches (if they breed), but right now, the slings are smaller than my smallest roach. (They were too big for the Dolomedes I initially bought them for.)
    So, the roaches are pets.
I couldn’t bring myself to euthanize them just because I ended up not being able to use them as feeders.

I’ll go into withdrawal if I don’t get my arachnid fix. If you had to talk about roaches that aren’t being fed to spiders, this species is a pretty color, invoking images of scarabs in ancient Egypt.

I’m keeping mine almost 2 years now and I find the male have a bit more of a pointy shape to their bum not so rounded as the females. Similar to when they are adult the shape is becoming really sharp at the bum. I’ve also mentioned a bit shorter antennas for the males. But about the antennas I’m not so sure. Need to keep an eye on them antennas. But it’s really hard almost impossible to tell the difference before they become adult.

A beautiful color but that's it. Sorry, but not a fan of roaches.

Absolutely fascinating. I Really wonder why they have evolved this beautiful color. There’s nothing else like it. I love how the females carry around the babies too.
Could the coloring be mimicry of venomous/poisonous animals? I can’t imagine it would be camouflage. But maybe in Vietnam they look like droplets of water.

I’ve seen them in a rare occation here in Norway, I’d love to keep them as pets!! I’ll go back to the pet store asap and get some. Any sugestions on how many I should purchase?🪳🪳🪳🪲🪲🪲
