Dondi really insists on always implementing the worst shit while holding up development on important aspects. I’m so glad I haven’t touched this game in over a year. I’m always checking in to see if there’s any progress but every time I come back it’s like… a new feature, new map and everything previous has been scrapped and started over again. I’m starting to hope this game just dies. He always says dumb shit like “everyone knows”. No Dondi. You’ve consistently made the worst fucking decisions then thrown a tantrum when everyone hates it. The epitome of this is basically the door is broken. How do we fix it? Knock down the whole wall.
I was watching some video and it was talking about how he worked on primal carnage and how he messed that up. I am pretty sure theres a point in the video where it shows Dondi admitting that hes trying to destroy games. Now with that said I would have to check the video out again to make sure. The video is called Dirty Devs: The Isle Game and the Not So Dandy Dond and the time is 22:05ishi if you want to check it out.
@@charlesham9162yea I’ve seen that. That guy makes good content. This game may actually just be a tax scam at this point. Do minimal work to write it off on his taxes.
The everyone knows is a typical trait to someone that knows he is doing something bad and deseperatly tries to convince himself that everyone agrees with it, by creating the false positive feedback he encourages himself into thinking only a minority of people will disagree. That just proves the fact that the guy is delusional and deep down knows that he is doing shit, but will never admit it.
I FUCKING LOVE NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE MY DINOSAUR IN A GAME ABOUT SEEING DINOSAURS!!!!! I WANT TO BE FORCED TO LOSE HOURS OF PROGRESS BECAUSE THE DEVS LIMITED MY VISION ON A FEATURE THAT HAS BEEN PRESENT *LITERALLY* SINCE THE GAME LAUNCHED!!!!!!
I literally got banned today because I said if they keep adding bullshit like this they should make the game free. Because I don’t want to pay for a game that punishes me for pressing the play button.
But how would Dondi fix the burnt food? Does he cook more? Nope. He throws out the whole stove. That’s how Donkey fixes shit. By not addressing the problem
The Isle is more obsessed with immersion that they forget they're making a GAME. They're making an interactive documentary you can walk through as a dinosaur, and then go 'oh yeah, we need some interactive things.'
What immersion? They keep giving herbivores hyper-asthma so the only option is to fight, then making the herbivores pushovers, or forcing carnivores to cannibalize because of the incomplete ecosystem, or adding dinosaurs in the entirely wrong order (stego and deino shouldn't have even been a THOUGHT yet) and making growth which already took too long across the board take EVEN LONGER. Dondi is simply making the most unfun game in history because that's apparently the type of game he enjoys, and everyone else is just along to suffer.
The isle is obsessed with realism. Realism =/= immersion. In fact, this level of, your dino should only be able to see so much realism is hurting immersion.
I think that’s part of why I don’t want to play the isle: the realism is extremely inconstant. Many of the dinosaur designs are 30 years out of date even beyond featherlessness in raptors (their hands are pronated which is also incorrect, they chose to include Biep with that bizarre colour scheme and sleek integument when it’s one of the only dinosaurs with pigment analysis on its shaggy emu-like feathers, etc). To me, that design communication completely defeats the purpose of the realism. But I’m also someone who cares a lot about paleontology and the consequences of popular media on the field. That and just… not wanting to give money to someone like Dondi.
this wont even make it immersive, herbivores have a wider sight because they have the eyes on the sides, so the herbivore gameplay is less realistic thus immersive
If this gets added, after 6 year’s of playing this game, I’ll have to quit lmao, Dondi is destroying his own game, and will just ignore the community as usual.
This has got be one of the most stupid changes In the isle I’ve ever seen, at this point the Isle dev’s are giving away all their player’s to path of titans. 😂
@@Spetsulaexactly I was kind hesitant on rather to buy path or isle , I almost wanted to buy the isle yesterday but yeah saw posts about camera rework and on the other hand path is again doing some remodeling dinos and stuff and now I probably just go with path
Same, I feel like ive been through the thick and thin of this game nearly since launch but if they implement this im NOT playing anymore until its removed.
Next up Dondi will be removing the entire visual aspect of the game, from now on The Isle will be a text based rpg where you have to type out your character’s movements and attacks in a turn based system and every 5 minutes you’ll have to play a randomly selected minigame and if you fail it your dinosaur will have a heart attack and die making you loose your progress. Humans will not have to worry about this because they’ll get a first person POV, however to keep immersion you’ll have to take periodic breaks from surviving to check your phone to watch skibidi toilet sigma edits on Tik Tok or else your human will get depression and begin to develop a dinosaur survival game to fill that void in their life that will culminate with your human making agonizingly boring development streams and bullying people on discord servers
I'm so glad he didn't try and be polite about it either. It's a shit idea and Dondi is so far up his own ass that he somehow found himself in Narnia. I just hope that the new camera angles will just be something severs can decide to use or not.
@@nvender9062 THAT HE SOMEHOW FOUND HIMSELF IN NARNIA LMFAOOO my god that is so fucking real and true and I seriously hope that this will be an optional thing as well. It better fucking be if they try to implement these new camera angles cus good fucking god this is the most shit decision ever thought of by Dondi.
@@PARADONIXX The devs have in my opinion struck gold with this game. But they believe since they know how to make a game, they feel entitled to act all high and mighty. Everything is at the palms of their hands. All they have to do is remove their heads out their Butts.
It’s gonna be a blast playing as a Styracosaurus and having to see through the bars of a prison cell in a game that hides steep cliffs behind dense foliage.
ooh boy I can't wait to play as a small dino and have a wonderful "looking at grass simulator" experience. You can already barely see shit when your dino is smaller than the never ending grass, I can't imagine how bad this is gonna be
@@thelionoob This. This right here. This new camera system will make the game **actually** unplayable from a mechanical standpoint. Everyone starts as a baby in the grass. It's impossible enough to see as a fresh spawn troodon, this is going to compound this issue so badly... And can you imagine tree cling as herrera? Jesus, I don't get motion sickness, but I know a lot of people who do, and this whole decision is going to be an exercise in how to reject an entire bulk of playerbase.
It's almost comical at this point how the devs always randomly come up with the worst ideas ever that nobody asked for, instead of fixing the known issues.
To put it simply, if i was looking for a dinosaur simulation game, and realized the POV was only my dino's head and shoulders, I'd immediately click away and go look at another game without a blink of an eye.
"You want to play a dino sim?" Hell ya! "Cool, but you don't actually get to see your dino." Tf... whats the point in skin customization or playing a game *to be a dinosaur* and never getting to see those aspects???
@@vixionvortexarchives It's a game first and foremost, he's right, what's the point of getting a skin only to see nothing? We won't even be able to see our dinosaur's animation... it's stupid!
The best way to describe the Isle is this: Imagine a person, one with incredible potential, but they're constantly stabbing themselves in the chest and slowly dying of blood loss. That is The isle in a nutshell, and it WILL die if Dondi keeps insisting that his game remains unfun for practically everyone. A future where PoT rises to the top and the isle is left with a few hundred or less players is very possible at this point and I do not want this game to sink to such a low
@@Dracovenatrix Oh know, but I mean it being the first game like this to receive more public recognition, despite not even being the game that started the sub-genre.
@@PestilentAllosaurus It would... actually be kind of sad to see The Isle fall Despite all the shit me and a bunch of others give it (I've barely touched it, I'm a Path boy), it is still one of THE big three in a genre that lacks in titles. I don't think I have ever heard an isle player say "I wish I could see less, have a smaller field of view and no idea where the back half of my body extends to". jesus christ dondi. This is like 10 times worse than the camera lock while eating and drinking. and that was a bad fix since every real animal is constantly looking around while feeding and drinking because that is when they are most vulnerable as a stationary target. I got to say him defining being able to see around your body as "not fun" is the icing on the cake, unfortunately the cake is rotting in a dumpster.... Cant wait to fall off ten million more cliffs than the 10 million I already fall off. thanks dondi. EDIT: THEY ARE BACKPEDDLING SO HARD IN THE DISCORD LMAOOOOOO I just saw the screenshots in the most recent Isle News Update video. Its wild how they dodged around just making an announcement and resolving the vast majority of the "misunderstanding".
@@FelidaeEnjoyer Actually, the feedback on this in the discord is overwhelmingly negative. I've seen three people out of hundreds saying they think they'll like it. The rest are all saying its a stupid choice that will negatively impact playability. At least a couple dozen have said that they and their friends will no longer play if they can't even see their own dinos or that they will no longer be able to play due to motion sickness and will literally be forced to quit.
@@brianaburch9854 No, as in this video complaining about it has 833 likes and 20 dislikes, I completely agree it's a bad choice I don't usually have problems with motion sickness, but 40 minutes of jiggly dinosaur nape shots and I will click off
Honestly when I saw this I just fucking laughed thinking it was a joke, then saw OH NO, they are being serious. WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY ON!? Did they learn NOTHING from the complainants of the camera lock with eating and drinking!? Like Jesus Christ it feels like they are TRYING to screw over their own game. THIS is the exact reason why I left the isle
and why you only see new players mainly, us old school/ day one players, are just about gone... and if you are an old school / day one player like me, you will not be surprised by this at all.. To put it another way, we should be getting expansion packs by now, not a game thats only 40% complete..
My theory is that dondi is DESPERATELY trying to kill the game, but can’t just delete it or ruin it (for unknown reasons). So he’s making constant subtle-ish bad decisions to kill the game without causing suspicion.
Idk why he would do that lol, I agree this will probably be a really bad change but it’s probably just him not completely thinking it through and trying a really bad route to increase immersion
Does this man know anything about biology?! Birds, a dinosaurs closest living relative, can bend their necks and spines to preen their tails with very little to no effort whatsoever, as well as animals such as cows and horses (which occupy the same ecological niche as a Trike or Para would) having an extremely wide range of vision. Hell, chickens can preen their tails so why the heck would being able to see their own tail be considered "not realistic?!" ...thank you for reading my Biology rant
me and a friend have a joke conspiracy theory that the devs are rolling out these horrible changes in order to slowly push away their playerbase to the point the game dies so they can stop working on it. "nobody plays the game anymore, guess we can make that dragon game now"
I wouldnt be surprised at this point seeing how Dondi not to long ago was going on and on about how he wants to make a entirely different game at this point and that's he's only working on The isle at this point because he's already in deep with its progress. The man is slowly scheming his way out of having to work on this game and slipping away like a fart on the wind to work on something else...Just like he did with Primal carnage extinction when he was a Dev of that.
because that's exactly what they did in Legacy, and then after adding so many dinos, they couldn't add new mechanics because it would break the entire game and it would take a very long time to add anything new that's why Evrima exists. They are going to add the base mechanics first and then the dinos, so it doesn't end up like Legacy
Edit: well this struck a nerve lol I do not understand Dondi's insistence that being able to see anything at all is a bad thing. Nighttime is already pitch black (even for the few creatures that have good night vision), foliage often entirely obstructs your view unless you're in an open field, and eating/drinking basically removes your ability to turn the camera at all. This also further invalidates prior development time. Why bother with animating the player? It will just waste performance efficiency (like the game needs help running worse). Why allow customization of skins if you can't see it? All animations where the head moves at all will throw off your focus, so will all major animations keep the head level (which would look awkward) or just not bother and give the player motion sickness? The funniest shit is that all of his points don't mean shit. Beasts of Bermuda proves that having a wide fov still leaves blind spots and the player has to be vigilant. There hasn't been a looking up problem in this game either since if you hold alt the camera changes position and places it near your head (sound familiar?), which is a change I don't entirely like bc looking up was mechanically helpful to avoid drowning or to bite flying enemies. The gall of Dondi is astounding. "Are you implying there is nothing to do in our game besides look at the dinosaurs?" YES, A THOUSAND TIMES YES!!! The game ACTIVELY disincentives you from doing practically ANYTHING!!! Don't drink water because you can instantly die, don't eat food for food's sake because it'll mess with your stats, don't run or attack whenever you want because you'll be out of stamina for actual minutes, don't go out at night because it is impossible to do anything, don't go to entire parts of the map bc there are no resources (which also causes other players to avoid the spot too), and don't ever make a single mistake because if you do you'll lose HOURS of progress with absolutely nothing to show. It's like the notion of basic game design is wholly foreign to these developers, I swear to god. They don't even understand the appeal of this genre; social interaction. Servers have small populations, sandbox mode (the ability to have a casual session, free from the game's stress for just a bit) was removed years ago, the maps make finding other players a chore, and there's not even a global chat to give the notion that there is anyone else on the game. I don't care about the "gritty realism," the blood and gore and making the player feel powerless. I came here because playing as a dinosaur is still a novel concept in the entirety of gaming, and this was one of the few places, THE place for the longest time, to do just that. It is a tragedy that the innovator of an entire genre has continually made the worst possible decision at every turn. The Isle was a game I liked playing, but I knew there was something missing. Even with Beasts of Bermuda, a game that has outdone The Isle in almost any way, that feeling still persists. I want a game in this genre that I can whole-heartedly recommend to peers and that I can call a truly good game. I really thought that The Isle could be that game someday, but even the tiniest shred of that naïveté has died. The Isle used to be neat, a new way to play a game and allow players to take the fun of playing with a sandbox of dinosaurs into a digital setting, but now it will forever be the game that, instead of heading to the finish line, turned around and ran the complete opposite way.
Damn, nothing to add bro, i feel you and agree 100%. It's sad how despite having one of best teams in terms of animators, 3d modelers etc, because of the stupid and childish devs, is going down. I feel sorry for the game, and for amazing animators that put life into each movement, each skin variant and growth system, only for the Head master go out and ruin it all.
Stop right there criminal scum, spittin so many facts is illegal! jokes aside tho, you're completely right. i give up on this game, its been 9 FUCKIN YEARS, and the game is either frozen in development hell or walking backwards. i'll just play POT, while it is far from a perfect game, it at least moves foward.
"I'm making an amazing dinosaur survival game with beautiful graphics, custom skins, and a camera system that lets you see none of that." "Hahah, that's a good one. Just in time for April Fools, right?" **Dondi smile...** "...For April Fools, right?"
If they want to really make the game more immersive why are they disregarding music and ambience? Nobody uses music because the combat tune is so obnoxiously loud and it activates even if a compy bites you which totally makes you vulnerable cause you can't hear anything else, such a stupid idea. And why, after so many years of evrima did they still not add a night ambience? It's such an easy thing to add and it would make the game so much more "immersive". The vibe of legacy was so dark and mysterious ( which made me fall in love with the game in the first place) and evrima has none of that...
This is actually pretty cool, they finally realized that Stego is unbalanced and op. Awesome! Two small issues though: 1. They're 3 years too late 2. They're opting to make the Stego blind to counteract it instead of just adjusting its stats.
The drop of all pretense and just going "they. are fucking. stupid." had me crying 😭 But for real though I have never, and I mean NEVER, seen such a unanimous agreement in this community over a change in an existing feature like this one. It is genuinely mind boggling how Dondi, and the other devs to some extent, really conceptualized this idea and said "yeah, this is something that'll address balance issues" and not... idk ACTUALLY ADJUSTING THINGS ABOUT STEGO THAT PEOPLE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT SINCE ITS RELEASE??? People have been saying for the longest time that Stego was released way too early for this roster and there are things that can be changed to make it more balanced, but nah its the "cAmErA" that's the issue. This idea on its face just sounds like it came from someone who doesn't play the game and the fact it was DONDI of all people makes this depressingly funny. It's also funny considering that people HAVE wanted changes to the camera so when they're playing troodon, or something of an equivalent size, they can actually SEE where they're going. At least they plan to make the grass transparent for those animals which is a good change but the rest did not need to happen at all
Dondi's salty that people were able to hide so well from him when he went on one of his Hyperendocrin rampages, because they could actually see it coming. That's the only reason I can think of, and even THAT'S flimsy because he has mod powers and can see player nametags
Thats the most important thing, its crazy how they came up with such idea, its like they dont even know their own game, and thats what everyone is starting to think.
I have been playing The Isle for a relatively short time and I haven’t questioned the devs decisions until this point. This is literally the worst possible thing they could’ve done to the game and this is probably what will ultimately lead me to stop playing it altogether, which is a heartbreaking thing for me to think about after having such high hopes for the game. Honestly I pray that the community will rise up and make a stand against this new camera before it even reaches the general public, especially the play testers when they get the update before everyone else. It’s a tragedy to me personally, and until this is resolved I will retire from The Isle. There are other dinosaur games for me to play than just this.
I grew up on this game and quit shortly after gateway, I am tired. They keep adding features that cause more harm than good. Maybe it was fun while it lasted?
@@juicyjuice3095 Well, more accurately I’ve known about The Isle because of people like TheGamingBeaver. It was only a year after EVRIMA launched when I got a pc that could run the game. I’m pretty much aware of the things the devs have said and done.
Everything about this mechanic feels petty. As if it solely exists because Dondi sucks at playing his own game but, also refuses to admit the stegosaurus was added too early.
No seriously though!!!! They really should have focused on the smaller tiers first- or go about it the way their first version went about it and only have apexes for a little bit!
@@alexs29 heavy agree, I really think they should have picked one of the two extremes or stayed strictly on the middle tiers rather than whatever they are doing rn

Well, if you do, then you'll remember his rant on why HE'LL NEVER MAKE THE GAME FIRST PERSON! So that we can see over bushes and ambush humans! What happened?! We went from that to a worse version of it in the span of like a month! This team really is something else

@@juicyjuice3095 I'm honestly surprised some of the "day one" players are still in TI after all the shit it's devs pulled over the years. I had enough of it 4 years ago >
The thing is that makes me the most upset is that you can already zoom your camera in. You already have the ability to make blimd spots if you choose to, its literally a pointless addition. Also when im playing games like this and i need to get an ambush i always wait for the dinos head to look the opposite way, because i know it creates a blindspot just like you said. I can get a perfectly fine ambush despite the camera, dondi is just batshit insane and has no idea what hes doing
"waiting until it's released to make a conclusion" is not the best thing to do in this case. As players, we should have principles and standards, there are some things that we just know for a fact we wouldn't enjoy, and this camera system is one of those things. Not everything needs to be thoroughly tested and gather feedback for us to know it would be terrible, some things are just obviously flawed from a conceptual standpoint. Making Deinosuchus run at 50 km/h is obviously a bad idea, we don't need months of testing to make sure it's a bad idea. Same thing with the camera system. The camera system has been the same for almost 8 years at this point, you can't just completely change the entire game overnight and expect people to be like "yeah we'll wait until it's actually here to judge."
It's really funny because a few years ago, Dondi literally said on stream that first person dino view was a stupid idea, when a player suggested it. It's already hard enough to hunt with the new speeds everything is at currently, nevermind with a narrowed view. Nice to see him sinking the game even more! If they make this change I will definitely be dropping the game.
I am generally not the brightest bulb in the concept of development. But I like seeing my dinosaur and the skin that I make. Though for seeing attacks, I am indeed concerned about rear attackers such as stego and Teno. I like the idea of fixing camera look up, and maybe improvement to choose where the camera is. But pin holing into one, very different thing that many people are used to. Definitely not enthused from the concern being spread atm. (oh, just saw final clip of just liking my skin and looking at the graphics, kinda a bit rude).
That’s so rough. I thought it might get better in a few years, but it looks like the Isle is doing a suicide speedrun. Not touching it with a ten foot pole now. Don’t know what possessed them to make these changes.
@ITakeItGood I basically got called special needs almost by the devs and their fangirls because I said the Stan changes suck. Their best argument was skill issue. I guess I am just a bad player for wanting the chill playable to be chill and not feel like a slightly better chicken.
If you’ve been on Reddit, people have been complaining about being mass banned from Discord for politely stating their opinion that they did not like the camera changes. This is actually insane behavior from the devs, considering this implementation will be game-killing. Can’t wait till they implement this change, half the people will leave the game and even the bootlickers will complain about it, so they have to return back to the 3rd person option.
The way I see it, they should’ve made it an optional mechanic. I’d imagine no one would be that angry or disappointed if they just made it something to customise the experience. Sure, there will be backlash because of development time wasted on a commonly viewed terrible mechanic, but the players wouldn’t be critical because of it. If it IS going to be the replacement, then there’s going to be an outcry about it, even if it was doable or good. The fact that many (objectively) see its flaws, is the final nail in the coffin. And as the old saying goes, “if it isn’t broken, DON’T, FIX, IT!”
This is stupid from every angle, we already can zoom in and zoom out like we want, the guy is just trying to make everyone pissed with this shit. That or hes just plain stupid.
Thing is, a zoomed out 3rd person camera makes up for the fact that the player is limited in other natural senses that the real creatures would have had. I don’t play The Isle (I play PoT, could go on a rant for years about those devs lol), but in PoT, the 3rd person camera helps compensate for the fact that we don’t have a sense of smell, really good directional hearing, 6th sense, etc. All we have to rely on are visuals and meh audio. Tightening the camera might make you miss the player hiding nearby or stalking up behind you, but a real dino would have a much better chance of sensing the danger with other senses than we would with a tightened camera and no additional senses. Large 3rd person cameras make up for that sort of thing
What if they should provide options in camera? Old view and new. Both should be in game to choose. A choice of preference. A small compromise for both. Rex should have a sniper view adjustable
@@nighthawkalpha5707 Gun jamming would be fine, as long as it's not a completely random chance and caused by crawling in mud or walking with it equipped in a sandstorm etc, then we'd have our skill ceiling AND eat it!

The hilarious thing is that Dondi doesn't seem to realise that the existing camera system plays an important role in compensating for the lack of other senses that cannot be implemented through a strictly audiovisual medium. sensory cues using the other three senses cannot be implemented. Hell, even scent isn't sufficiently implemented to reflect reality. The camera compensates for these things. But this change denies the players that information.
And funny enough kissen tried to say “its like 50 people come into a restaurant and demanded they made bbq, when the restaurant had no bbq”, like bitch please its like nacho fries, you had it on the menu and no one wants you to remove it because they taste amazing.
yep, why 97% of the day one and old school player base is gone and its all new players now, because us day one / old school players have lived with this to many times in the past, we have seen one BS idea after another.. this camera change is not surprising at all...
its a mass red flag when he said about the thing we never really asked for "this is not fun, let me do this for you instead" really signals they don't really listen to the community what we really want for the game
13:04 The amount of times I’ve played as a stego and many raptors, ceras, carnos, etc that have gotten in shots bc I was looking to the side and didn’t see someone hiding in a bush not 5 feet away on my blind side ready to ambush. It’s the fact that they have these cameras in a BLANK TEST MAP that allows you to see everything bc there’s no foliage, but the second you put this on gateway with heavy foliage such as the forest, the field of view shrinks and contorts bc of the bushes and overall foliage. 🤦🏻♀️ This whole thing is a massive disaster fest
Were you expecting intelligence or good quality from Dondi? They've been doing everything in their power to make The Isle universally unfun for everyone who touches it. They find a scrap of fun and shit all over it. "Whats that? People are only playing this game for dino combat and don't want to fight as juvis so they sit afk in a bush for 6 hours? They're asking for us to fix the problem of non-adult stages not being fun? They're playing the game wrong and deserve to be punished for it."
Plus, most herbivores in the modern day could see directly behind them with how their eyes are placed for the exact purpose of seeing predators. So, surely you'd assume convergent evolution would have something to do with that.
Yea just make stegos swing slightly slower. When humans come out this camera system will kill the game. Bc humans can easily sneak up to an animal and blow its head off and theres no way ur defending yourself. Especially when there was a stream where dondi said dinosaurs have to have a severe camera advantage with third person to actually counter humans with their first person view.
I dont think 1rst person vs 3rd person will change guns that much, guns will be EXTREMELY rare and even in 3rd person if a human has a gun it’s probably gonna blow your head off lol, and that’s probably exactly WHY hes changing the cameras, because like you said, 3rd person dinos have a major advantage compared to 1rst person humans. I agree this is a bad change. Just not in the context you compared it to lol.
“This dinosaur is broken. It attacks too fast and does too much damage. I know! Let’s change the entire camera system for all dinosaurs!” Lmao this guys such a tink
if they go through with this, they need to fix the footstep sounds. A carno or cera can charge towards you and you won't hear anything so the current camera helps with that.
Really not looking forward to dino fights if they go through with this change. I can already feel the motion sickness while quickly looking around yourself during combat. It's gonna be so annoying to line up and time attacks, especially with dinos that use their tails. The only playable species that actually needs a limited field of view are the ones that attack with projectiles/guns IE humans.
Finally someone that really gets it, well done. They are destroying the "fun" aspect of the game in favour of immersion and realism failing to understand that it doesn't always equate to engaging mechanics and it doesnt really fix balancing problems. I spent 1 day arguing in their official discord about ways to balance stegos and stamina issues and i got people telling me that stegos are TOO SLOW and needed a buff, and that herbies that have the advantage of herds are "shit dinos" because they rely on others. Truly mind-boggling. The fact is that this game is going in the wrong direction and 50% of it is the community's fault.
You know, I remember when I was starting out in Path and someone said I should zoom my camera in and fight like that. It was very jarring and I asked why someone would ever choose to play like that. His response was "wait until Dondi sees this, he'll make it the base camera in The Isle". That was around a year ago, I thought it was just a joke... fuckin' yikes, dude.
they havent even fixed the audio stutter bug. its been nearly unplayabale for me without turning off my sound because the stutter is SO bad, and ive had it since the launch of gateway. nothing i tried works to rid of it. can they please to god work on fixing their game before breaking it more
Been with the isle since progression. It's so sad to see how far the isle has fell from grace. If they add this new camera mechanic i might as well buy path of titans where the devs make better decisions than 4 year olds unlike dondi
I’ve been playing path of titans so much more than the isle and I haven’t touched the isle since they stared Evirma development and holy hell, path of titans puts out more content than The isle and it’s so sad to see The isle fall so far from where it came from years ago.
It's so annoying how in order to demonstrate how "bad" the current camera is, he shows it being zoomed out WAY further away then you can in the public build.
I think that a better idea instead of changing the camera is to make senses mechanic, that would act as "radars" for hearing and making creatures out of vision range invisible. That way herbivores would have less hearing and wider vision range, meanwhile carnivores could be the opposite. this way the game would have the realism they are looking for, instead of just lazily changing the player vision.
Dondi is doing whole speed run of "how to lose 99% of your playerbase". When this goes through, I will finally abandon The Isle completely. It is already very boring compared to Beasts of Bermuda, Path of Titans and Prior Extinction. Don't try to fix something that nobody asked to fix, instead fix all the things we constantly ask you to fix. I still see so many audio and visual bugs in the game! And the camera won't help with the "I have nothing to do"-problem it is just more problematic for us that have vision problems already. If I wanna play in first person, I can just zoom in. If I'm being forced to use it in dino game then count me out.

@@payita6931 Hello and thank you 💜 I don't think this change is gonna stick too long if majority of the playerbase is against it. So if it doesn't stick then I will be going back to Isle, if it does then I might play legacy for nostalgy reasons before that branch gets deleted (the devs did say that legacy will be gone when evrima is finished).
dondi is actually the most textbook case of a narcissist, it's so sad to see his and the dev teams' skills and talent go to a complete and utter waste.
I would recommend that everyone show their disdain for these new changes by providing the feedback via a Steam review. If they want to ban feedback from their Discord then the only place left is Steam.

well to us old school / day one players, this is far from new and not surprising at all.... and to put it in another way, we should be getting expansion packs by now, not a game 40% complete.. And exactly why 97% of the players base is new, all the day one and old school players have long left do to BS like this...
The real kicker for me is that 1st person works well for human survival experience; ARK, Farcry Primal and the Cabelas sports games all make good use of first person to ramp up immersion and in certain contexts makes the game even more intense or scary. That doesn't work when you're playing as an animal with proportions vastly different from a human. We can rationalize in our heads how much space a human character needs to move and operate without seeing the whole body because we know what the limitations of the human body are, where we can fit, what we should reasonably be able to crawl under or scale. Playing as a dinosaur is almost totally dependent on having that visual information. How big am I, how long is my tail? How far do I need to run into the forest before the foliage covers me? And so many more obvious questions that don't exist in First-Person survuval games because being human answers almost all of that intuitively. We do not intuitively understand the finer nuances of being a dinosaur, seeing the body is part of puppeteering it. We're not ready to go Gundam with our dinos. Edit: In the beginning of his explanation Dondi mentions how the camera is omnipresent and its overtly simple to scan 360° all the time. Which does make ambushes way less viable and overall makes it less of a survivalist experience. I can't argue the logic there. Folks are throwing legit tantrums over having immersion and realism take precedence. Yall got your pinecone collector PoT if ya hate the idea of dinos that aren't omnipresent, I wanna play as a creature and make use of natural knowledge and not have some meta- super sweat whos in VC scanning 360° constantly giving silent warnings to their herd. It's crazy how much of the community that plays the game isn't actually the target audience and gets mad when the game isn't being tailored to them. Like bruh, you're not the kind of player the game is made for 💀
So first they make it so night vision is just pitch black for the majority of the roster and now they want to limit it more? Nighttime is literally going to just be waiting simulator
"We're in the kitchen, we decide what's cooking" Except, it's because of us, the consumers, that there's even a kitchen to begin with. Dondi is notorious for his sudden changes of mind and direction with the game, and at this point I am no longer shocked. The stam changes that nobody's asked for? The camera changes that nobody's asked for? Just to name a recent few ... Dondi is digging a deeper grave for his game for no apparent reason.
At this point I might as well take my arse back to Primal carnage extinction since Dondi is clearly trying to off his game with these poor decisions that NO ONE asked for. All we wanted...ALL WE NEEDED...Was for Troodon's camera to be slightly pulled back so it can see over the foliage and the man took that as...NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO SEE. Part that pisses me off the most is at 10:29 Literally NO ONE was complaining about this...No one..I haven't hear a single person complain about this in all of my 8 years of being with this game. Only time I've EVER seen people complain heavily about the camera was when Troodon was introduced...
Alright i've had enough, i don't even keep up with this games news but maybe once every few months. These resparded ass devs keep looking at the most random ass shit, complain about it and overhaul the hell out of it. It's fine to innovate bro but, the dev team has literally changed so much about this game already that it makes the game an entire new learning curve. This dev team has been known to take so freaking long on these dinosaurs and it's obviously because some of these dinosaurs will be the base placeholders for other dinosaurs, for example Pteranodon to Quetz. But inbetween all that they've made 2-3 different maps? like they just keep making new shit without focusing on what people REALLY WANT: Dinosaurs and mechanics (also better fucking netcode). The humans, the unnessecary amount of foliage, the diet, the new mechanics, taking screenshots if maybe your a content creator to appreciate the beauty of the game, and the skins are all in vain with this new camera 😂. Like dude how are you going to complain about looking and building world view around your dinosaur. You quite LITERALLY HAVE to overhaul the ENTIRE GAME to fit these things, like how are u gonna pounce well? How are u gonna tell how many raptors are on you, how tf are u gonna tell when a dilo nips ya in the arse? There's so much flaws about this, and i for one am NOT gonna be using my alt bite because i'd feel queasy just playing this game. They've already limited camera movement when drinking, so now we're just free food for a supposed deino, might be cool as a fear factor but what? Also speaking of deino, how tf are we gonna see well through the water? ESPECIALLY THE THICK SWAMP WATER?!? Look dude, to whoever reads this comment or if it comes through and someone happens to see this i'd really appreciate it if you could give me your opinion on this matter, whether you're a new, or an old player. Thanks for reading my 2 cents.
Also in real life you might not be able to *see* around you but you can often still sense movements around you in subtle ways which are very hard to recreate in a video games. Games like this make up for that by have the camera set up like this.
Clearly the developers have never really played the game.. by far the worst decision in isle history.

Dondi is simply making the most unfun game in history because that's apparently the type of game he enjoys, and everyone else is just along to suffer.
i like you and your comment very good keep it up
The isle is obsessed with realism.

Birds, a dinosaurs closest living relative, can bend their necks and spines to preen their tails with very little to no effort whatsoever, as well as animals such as cows and horses (which occupy the same ecological niche as a Trike or Para would) having an extremely wide range of vision. Hell, chickens can preen their tails so why the heck would being able to see their own tail be considered "not realistic?!"

Why can't they just put more dinos out? It's like they're always getting sidetracked on some random ass mechanics.
That would be the thing the community wants and we can't do that
because that's exactly what they did in Legacy, and then after adding so many dinos, they couldn't add new mechanics because it would break the entire game and it would take a very long time to add anything new
that's why Evrima exists. They are going to add the base mechanics first and then the dinos, so it doesn't end up like Legacy
New dinosaurs will not fix the game. Performance and mechanics need to be polished before they dump more playables in.
True
@@rocky_4003It was the terrible coding that killed legacy, not an abundance of content
I’ve never seen X zaguer this mad 😭 but I totally agree
Edit: well this struck a nerve lol
I do not understand Dondi's insistence that being able to see anything at all is a bad thing.

I love ur Kaeya pfp@@nonerdsherexx
they keep banning anyone who gives feedback about the change so i doubt it'll get scrapped
as a day one player, your are blessed to not have seen the BS that us old school players have lived thru..
To be frank, deino and carno were added in too early as well.
@@alexs29 heavy agree, I really think they should have picked one of the two extremes or stayed strictly on the middle tiers rather than whatever they are doing rn
Wait, wait, wait!! I'm pretty sure Dondi just proved himself a hypocrite again. Does anyone else remember a few months back when we got some of the first rex footage and info on humans? Well, if you do, then you'll remember his rant on why HE'LL NEVER MAKE THE GAME FIRST PERSON! So that we can see over bushes and ambush humans!
What happened?! We went from that to a worse version of it in the span of like a month! This team really is something else

well to us old school / day one players, this is nothing new and NOT surprising in the least..
If they fix the looking up "problem" you won't be able to use the camera to look at smol babas on the ground up close anymore. So that's also an L.
16:34 Lool, next update, actively need to press F every 5 seconds to breath, or your dino will die from forgeting to breath 🤣 🤣🤣🤣

Why you think I left?

LMAO the ending, honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if they implemented manual breathing
Bahahahaha
The sad thing is the more the loyal fan base says this is bad and asks the devs to please not, Dondi will double down.
Every update makes the legacy better
The Isle devs not trying to screw-up teir already screwed-up game challenge: IMPOSSIBLE
Haven’t even played the game since the ervima launch and Im pissed about this decision😂
Youre not losing much dont worry, its more about frustration and rage than having a good time and fun. Nothing like Legacy
For the love of god it’s a video game. They’re trying to make this actual animal simulator.

The Isle Devs were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should
That’s so rough. I thought it might get better in a few years, but it looks like the Isle is doing a suicide speedrun. Not touching it with a ten foot pole now. Don’t know what possessed them to make these changes.
I appreciate the Mechanicus music, but even the Omnissiah cannot reduce my bafflement at this change.
And how TF would deinos be able to ambush!?
This would be worse on deinos than the stam changes on ptera.
@ITakeItGood I basically got called special needs almost by the devs and their fangirls because I said the Stan changes suck. Their best argument was skill issue. I guess I am just a bad player for wanting the chill playable to be chill and not feel like a slightly better chicken.
@@Laurtonthe Devs are incredibly unprofessional in every way
If you’ve been on Reddit, people have been complaining about being mass banned from Discord for politely stating their opinion that they did not like the camera changes. This is actually insane behavior from the devs, considering this implementation will be game-killing.
Can’t wait till they implement this change, half the people will leave the game and even the bootlickers will complain about it, so they have to return back to the 3rd person option.

I bet not even 1 of those people who got banned is gonna stop playing the game.

I absolutely will if the camera changes are implemented.
You must hate not getting you’re way huh little boi
Allosaurus cannot see the bullshit anymore
Allosaurus feels the bullshit
how can anyone see this as a good decision

The hilarious thing is that Dondi doesn't seem to realise that the existing camera system plays an important role in compensating for the lack of other senses that cannot be implemented through a strictly audiovisual medium. sensory cues using the other three senses cannot be implemented. Hell, even scent isn't sufficiently implemented to reflect reality. The camera compensates for these things. But this change denies the players that information.
"The wheel. It sucks, you can just roll it foreeever and nobody likes that, so we're reinventing it but with a more immersive, pentagonal shape."

SPIT, POET!! Preaching to the choir, unfortunately, since Dondi lives in an echo chamber of his own farts.
yep, why 97% of the day one and old school player base is gone and its all new players now, because us day one / old school players have lived with this to many times in the past, we have seen one BS idea after another.. this camera change is not surprising at all...
its a mass red flag when he said about the thing we never really asked for "this is not fun, let me do this for you instead" really signals they don't really listen to the community what we really want for the game
The guy is insane
Plus, most herbivores in the modern day could see directly behind them with how their eyes are placed for the exact purpose of seeing predators. So, surely you'd assume convergent evolution would have something to do with that.
Everything has binocular vision wyn?

Yea just make stegos swing slightly slower. When humans come out this camera system will kill the game. Bc humans can easily sneak up to an animal and blow its head off and theres no way ur defending yourself. Especially when there was a stream where dondi said dinosaurs have to have a severe camera advantage with third person to actually counter humans with their first person view.
ikr, that was a week-2 weeks ago, idk what happened after the stream, that they suddenly needed to change the camera system....
I know! Let’s change the entire camera system for all dinosaurs!”
Lmao this guys such a tink
if they go through with this, they need to fix the footstep sounds.
Hatchlings and fresh spawns have been really quite seen the devs annouced the new camara chages
"This is too much" while using the fucking editor camera zoom. Like they must not really play their game at all.
Go for it. PoT has wonderful community servers with tons of modded content and passive growth like in The Isle.
Me watching devs making this game more and more unplayable like 😭
just got banned for criticizing this in the discord lol. "Toxicity and flamebaiting" XD
It's so annoying how in order to demonstrate how "bad" the current camera is, he shows it being zoomed out WAY further away then you can in the public build.
Damn I guess I’m not surprised dondi would stoop so low as propaganda now xd
How the hell would you play stego?
I see two positives, And 1000 negatives, Dondi moment
I think that a better idea instead of changing the camera is to make senses mechanic, that would act as "radars" for hearing and making creatures out of vision range invisible. That way herbivores would have less hearing and wider vision range, meanwhile carnivores could be the opposite. this way the game would have the realism they are looking for, instead of just lazily changing the player vision.
People complain about path but I dont see it sabotaging its development cycle and gameplay every other year
Dondi is doing whole speed run of "how to lose 99% of your playerbase".
Love to see u here Laacer! And yes I am having more fun with POT and BOB than with TI. I stopped playing The Isle 2 years ago. But it's sad, it was a rlly loved game to play and I love ur vids playing it! Would you like to play on Legacy or are u gonna abandon TI completely?
@@payita6931 Hello and thank you 💜 I don't think this change is gonna stick too long if majority of the playerbase is against it. dondi is actually the most textbook case of a narcissist, it's so sad to see his and the dev teams' skills and talent go to a complete and utter waste.

"We're in the kitchen, we decide what's cooking"
Except, it's because of us, the consumers, that there's even a kitchen to begin with.
They're chefs cooking at a restaurant. They burn the food enough then the tables are gonna be empty.
They banned me for laughing at someone comparing dondi to yandere dev lmao
sounds like you were to based for their circle jerk discord server
That is an apt comparison. Wonder if we’ll ever get a “chalice moment” from them.
Bye bye
But like, why?
Because Dondi insists his game gets worse. He ALWAYS does shit like this.
he is trying to make this a "realism" for whatever fuckin reason
He’s doing a game suicide speedrun
This is truly a dev thinking realistic = fun moment
Remember guys realistic =/= fun
