Rip roy Clark.i will always remember his smile that seemed to be a mile long
The man was just as much a pleasure to talk to as he was to listen to
The best overall guitarist on planet earth....bluegrass, rock, country, Latin, blues, and oh yeah.....he can play the banjo just as good....nobody else can touch him...
And fiddle!
dont forget classical--the most difficult of styles--i have no doubt that roy could have mastered barrios and villa lobos no problem..........
you left out the Fiddle.
How can he play that fast and make it sound so clear, and I don’t know if I’ve seen that kind of slapping on an acoustic before. Truly a legend, R.I.P
Not only did he nail this rendition, he captured the drama of the piece. He made the guitar sound like a machine gun and he's just some old country boy who picked up a guitar well before there was an internet. Hats off to Roy Clark, and absolute master of the guitar.
This is extreme showing off where no one alive could copy what he just did with a guitar. This was truelly Roy in his prime. WOW !!!
Too freakin' cool. I remember seeing this on the Odd Couple when it originally aired.
Me too... and I was just a kid. My mum use to tape it.. and I'd watch that VCR over and over and over and over....
One of the technical great guitar players ever. Incredible human being as well!
Phenomenal Guitar Player. So amazing, he made me think about Giving up guitar Playing . . . as he was " Just so Good " Just a Special Talent. R.I.P. Legend.
It should make you want to play it more!! .....not throw it away?
I admired Roy immensely, a truly awesome player of all stringed instruments
I remember seeing this episode. Loved the Odd Couple and Roy Clark. He also plays a violin in this episode. I had no idea he could do that till I saw the show. He was really good. One my favorite all time guitar players. 😎✌♥️
To everyone saying that they just quit playing, please keep playing, make each time a tribute to this mans talent. i sit in awe of it and am humbled by how humble he is about it as well.
what he does @2:17 is beyond words. I don't think 30fps would have captured that. wow. I had never heard of Roy Clark and I consider myself a guitar player. Shame on me. Thank you for posting this boysofb2
***** Some professional musicians are virtuosi (virtuosos?) A scant few of those virtuosi are grand masters.

and we are looking at one of the very very best right here. he was also the king of flash which he enjoyed to no end just for the fun of it and usually sprinkled some around every performance for grins, like the slap thing here, which I have never heard anyone attempt on a 6 string. His banjo work is just as jaw dropping.

if you ask me roy clark is the grand master of the grand masters .
This man is indeed the greatest of all time
StoneEC nah not even close, definitely top 100 though in his own way. certainly Tommy Emmanuel is far better as are dimebag Darrell, yngwie Malmsteen, and John petrucci
pure freaking talent!! roy was a very underappreciated and under rated musician!!
No wonder Jimmy Page has spoken publicly about his admiration for this man. I had no idea. Damn
Old Roy could simply play and play well, and not just one genre. A real musician, he is.
NO, BODY WILL EVER BE BETTER THAN THE ONE AND ONLY MR.ROY CLARK...😂❤
His renditions of Maleguena are pretty sweet as well. Heaps of talent Mr Clark. Much respect
As an African American growing up in the 60's I used to watch Hee Haw ALL THE TIME. Nothing else on the TV.
Roy was brilliant on the strings.
Okay, great...but why point our your race? Who cares? Music is color blind. Let it go.
Ive just found out about Roy Clark today at 54yo.
Dec 6th 2024.
Wow!
Hes next level genius.
Roy was (is) such an artist. He is a stand up comic, a singer/songwriter, and he can play literally anything that has strings.
If all he could do is play the guitar he would still be famous.
Dayum!!!! Became aware of Roy's greatness many years ago, but THIS performance...Wow!❤️
Probably the GOAT ! You should see him play Banjo and Fiddle too!
Roy Clarke was such an apex, next level, guitar and musical master he probably wore guitars out.
...his brute force here could easily trainwreck at any moment here, but he not only holds it together,... he commands it at will.
A pure Legend.
wow he was amazing 👏 absolutely amazing. he was extremely gifted. loved it. 😍
Holy shit! Who knew! I was a kid then. Super glad i re-found this gentleman /artist!
The grand Master of all guitar masters.
Still just as amazing as the first time I saw this.
Guitar, banjo, fiddle...musical machine!
holy crap, Roy Clark just melted my face!!! wow he was great!
Remember seeing this as a kid. Still blows me away. What a great talent Roy was.
Thank you!
Quite possibly the best guitarist ever. Hands down. An amazing talent.
What!? No way. How can you say that with a straight face....err.....keyboard?
