Genuinely had no idea that the Met Gala was tonight, but now I'm excited to see what people come up with! Although I'm prepared to not be impressed. Also, props for dealing with all the ruffles, even if some of them were pre made. So. Many. Ruffles.
"People" usually dont come up with anything ... because "everything has been done already", which results in "them" going overboard towards ridiculousness.
Oh and it also means that "the dress" becomes the focus of attention and "does the dress actually match the woman?" is being forgotten.

I love this dress! It is sooo you. And having a cliffhanger ending just builds anticipation to see the final version, which I will gleefully (yet patiently) await. Plus, the whole "Dress for the parties you want to go to" mindset is a total winner. That's definitely going into my "quotes and inspiration" art journal. ☺

Yes the Fabulous Ms. Clayton. The costumes at the Met Gala were absolutely horrible, I dont know when designers went wrong, when did they decide that ugly is beautiful.

well done this looks incredible, love the idea of ruffled fabric, wish there was more of it in plain colours such as organza, would safe a ton of time when making victorian garments
I like the beads! While not immediately apparent at a distance, they create a nice point of interest up close and probably would catch different types of light in fascinating ways.
okay I *love* the ruffle trim on the bows!! The whole dress is gorgeous, but that trim especially is so pretty!

im so glad you agree on gilmore girls. i was subjected to it when my mom and siblings decided to binge the whole thing, and i couldn't escape as my old bedroom was right next to the living room and everyone in my family blasts the tv volume

This dress construction was amazing and the patterning all done free hand!!! I can't imagine how long it took, but I am assuming it was a few months. It is so pretty and could also be used for a Valentine Ball as well. You are so talented, it's a shame your designs haven't made it to the red carpet events. They should be for sure. I also wanted to comment that you sounded so much happier; more uplifted than before. I'm glad that you consulted with others as well. Having people to call on for suggestions, support and/or advice makes it easier to complete the project. I hope you are noticing it as well. Thank you for showing us this project and how it was done. I can't wait to see it on you!

This dress turned out gorgeous!!😍 ghe white ruffles were the perfect addition, I agree with you. The white was to stark of a contrast between the red and the soft ruffles. I can't wait to see worn photos! When you finish the closures of course. 💜💜
I think that the current balance of the garment is really good and additional bows would distract as you said. One good addition could be a narrow ruffle from the heart shaped fabric to the bottom edge of the bodice to continue the motif from the front overskirt upwards. ♡
