    The fiat 500 was first introduced in 1963 and it is still available for sale today in a slightly modernized form. The roof is called a rag top. It has a tiny 500cc engine in the rear and seats 4 if you don't mind intimacy.
    These days original Fiat 500s are a cult classic in the same way as VW Beetles are.

    I think a road crossing the corner would be an interesting feature; not all train crossings are perfectly lined up.

      I wouldn't have a clue how to build a railroad crossing over curved track...lol

    You should build a bridge out the door and connect to the old event hall out back and then start a spinoff city out there. The brickheadz are starting to complain that they feel too crowded and are afraid of the cats knocking them over 😂

    Jealous of the size of the space! I would either buy aftermarket switches with continuous radius (someone else suggested trixbrix) or cut/modify the lego switches to make them continuous radius. Also, if you add the switches where you suggested, AND add switches to complete the loop on the other table, you can have two separate loops with continuous running on each table, while still being able to have one, full loop when you want. Last thought - if that table is 16 ft long, you have enough length to have the track go up an incline, giving you an option to have trains pass under other trains with a bridge, or a tunnel/hillside track situation. Scope out vids of O scale layouts for ideas - they are about the same size as lego trains! 👍

      All great ideas! I thought about using the space to connect the ground line to the elevated line too, but I'm not sure on that though.

    If you still wanted to keep the switches for realism reasons, I think you could have some "fake ballasting" under the curves and switches (that is, just tiles instead of plates), and having a "real" one with plates connected to the straight sections.
    About the "accessibility" of your city, are planning any road connection between the two areas? I know how many suggestions were made to knock down that wall (mine included 😁). But you could do some "virtual" hole on it: adding a tunnel connecting the old and the new areas. You don't need a real hole there, the tunnel ends just need to be aligned.

      I think I know what you mean. But even with a virtual tunnel, it would still be another point to block my walkway between the platform and the wall. You know I mean? I would love to have the roads connect somewhere though!

      @@letstalkaboutlego1979 Gotcha. Maybe adding the tunnel closer to where the new rail line is, parallel to each other. This would allow to keep the walkway in both rooms. I only think it'd affect the current layout of the space center though...

    • @letstalkaboutlego1979
      @letstalkaboutlego1979  Місяць тому +1

      That is correct. Maybe I could run a false tunnel there, however, it may end up being more work than it's worth...lol. I will see how things go and whether I'm motivated enough to do it...haha

      I could make the road going into the tunnel look like it's coming through the wall... but again, it would be a walkway blocker.

    Yeah...I too struggle with the whole ballasting thing. It's so parts intensive as well. A couple of flex pieces on the bridge straights will fix the overang/underhang issue. I actually cut my switches and a piece of curve to create a switch without the annoying kink...👍🏻

    The new table expansion is nice, going to give you a lot more room for new sets to be added to the city! Are you going to do a road system of sorts to get to that side, or just the train tracks? Looks awesome so far nice work!🔥

      The railroad tracks for sure. I'm currently working on a way I could connect the roads.

    Very cool model Fiat 500! looks like big space for the train tracks! but looking forward what will be placed at the sides and inside of it

      Yes, I intend to at some point. I just don't know when. And I wouldn't have a clue as to where I'd even begin with lighting... I'll have to do some research first.
