As the castle is a film set it'd be great to have the various trailers / trucks that usually accompany a film set, they could be stationed in a cleared out area of the forest. You could add a catering truck, makeup trailer, various set pieces being worked on and general film crew wondering around who aren't directly involved in the shoot.
Trust me. On a film set there is more than one food truck. It is funny how many different food trucks they get in. These updates just amaze me. Your natural talent for MOCs is another level.
Would be cool if you added a gold glow coming from where the sword is stuck into the rock using LEDs! Would make it stand out more as storytelling. It’s a bit hard to see what it is from a distance. Love the castle!!
To draw people’s attention more to the fact that the battle is a film you could add a little “camp” in a forest clearing somewhere nearby with the cast and crew’s trailers and equipment. Extra costumes lying about, actors in the process of getting in and out of costume, actors and crew members eating snacks on their breaks, etc.
I have known that Lego has a huge fanbase and I was a fan as a child but yours is the first channel that I 'need' to watch and has seriously made me contemplate entering back in to the hobby at 37 yrs old. I am just so invested in your museum! Maybe when it is done I will travel from England to see it in person. Thank you for the entertainment you provide x
Though please get a little bit of historical information about castles, as the castle is unrealistic in pretty much any way. 1. The entrance is way too small, usually castles have a big gate house sitting on top with additional towers to the sides of it, making up the most well defended part of a castle. (Often has a "zwinger" too.) Because the entrance is a castle's biggest weakness. 2. The castle keep is a very unefficient combination of a "Bergfried" and a "keep". The keep is the main part of an English castle where the castle's inhabitants live in. It's a big building with thick walls, surrounded by towers and other defensive structures. A Bergfried is solely military with no room to live in and is always by far the biggest tower of the castle. The creator most likely didn't understand the differences as he is German and Google unfortunately translates "Bergfried" to "keep", which is simply wrong. 3. Most castles were actually plastered (and especially this one) so you would have at least seen remains of that. 4. All of the walls need to be much thicker. 5. The battlements need to be much bigger to actually serve a purpose. 6. The castles and especially the main tower should be located on the highest part of the hill. 7. The walls and attack surface should be kept to a minimum, this castle has strategically unlogically placed walls that literally surround nothing but air. [Put buildings inside!!!] 8. The castle has absolutely no economical purpose, as there are no buildings for workers to live or work in. This is the reason castles were built in the first place, they were used for generating wealth: For example workers could live there for free and in return the goods they produce would be sold. Or they have people collecting taxes for imports to the kingdom. Royals don't generate wealth out of nothing and then build huge, incredibly expensive, defended structures just to live safely.
@@BDD_Builds No, the creator has been working on this project for several years and realism has always been a top priority. Also I never meantioned anything about the scale nor did I say that he should have used any reallife materials. I said that in the middle ages castles were often plastered, so they didn't actually have exposed brick walls, but rather brown/white walls instead. Maybe you get what I meant now.
Just a suggestion but if your going for an old castle that has been sitting for a while and is now being used I would recommend a hole in one of the walls with bricks falling out!! Love the series keep it up❤❤
1:44 no one would ever have an armory on the second floor like this, climbing up the ladder to get geared up only to then climb back down is very inefficient 😅 Great progress!
Suggestion: I think having a campsite in the forest would be a cool idea. It’s a good way to have a light source in that area for the nighttime scene. Love the work! I’ve been invested in this for over a year!!!
There is definitely a european vibe to the whole city so maybe in the forest a menhir or megalithic graves to show some really ancient history. some roman elements maybe as well? like an old roman road peeking through in certain parts of the city
Castle like that would be a good tourist attraction, would be neat to see a gift shop/tour bus etc. Or even a Renaissance fair happening would be awesome, it would make sense having everyone dressed up for the area.
So all the guards have to walk through the princess's bed chamber to get and return weapons from the armory? Seems like a great idea! Hopefully she's not changing her clothes.
I am in Germany and couldn’t wait to see your museum. Unfortunately it is closed the week I am in your town. Can’t wait for you to get it fully up and running !
You know, it occurs to me how amazing a fantasy medieval layout would look in this style! Drawing inspiration from the new DnD set, you could tell an entire story of an adventuring party starting out in a small tavern and working their way to the final boss dragon or wizard in an epic castle tower!
Rather than add cameras, might it be fun to see the other battle scene as staff and actors milling about between takes or scenes? They could be chatting and drinking cups of coffee, tending to the horse, having their make-up done, getting into costume, setting up props, stuff like that? Incredible work as always!
Serious work with block signals of the train network... Also glad trains will have lightning too because the locos cries for some working headlights (that will light up the inside of tunnels, requiring more detailing of these otherwise unseen spots.... ;) ) The castle is superb, very realistic in it's defensive design. Also the "movie filming" makes me think you could actually shoot stop motion movies in your lego city (once finished). There are so many stories to be told here, so many "shooting locations" possible....
I think it would work better if the sord in the stone was off to the side in the forest along a small path...i feel that it is too close to the castle and loses its magical vibe. Otherwise, great work! I've been watching the series for over two years now and have loved the progress!
6:55 u could add railway crossing barriers that are falling down each time the train passes. It would be tough to do but it would look absolutely amazing.
not sure if this would work but for when you open it up to people it would be cool to be able to easily see the various buildings interiors as you put so much effort and they look great. Not sure how you would do it, you could allow people to walk behind the moc, in order to see in from the back but I'm sure you could figure it out. Thanks for all the great videos and keep up the great work!
I always love the little elements. The cart in the outside Battle scene is so good. I'd be really curious to see more of the design honestly to try and build it myself
You could add a team of workers doing 'yearly' maintenance on the thrai arches or the wall. Orange pieces could add a bit of colour to the all-grey wall.
A quick historical note for medieval castle spiral staircases. They usually twist up and to the right. This was to give the occupants of the tower a greater chance at defense as they would be wielding their swords right-handed and thus have an advantage over would-be invaders who struggled to reach around the corner to fight.
Great progress update. Love the changes! Two suggestion for your castle. One, make the keep into a gatehouse and build another (larger) keep at the back on a moot to hide the wall. The keep only needs to be a false-front (i.e., only the face of the keep). Two, build a smithy, stables and other out buildings in the bailey so they can be seen easier.
Dude, this is a sick update to the Lego city! One thing I feel would fit so well would be a cherry blossom tree, especially if it’s somewhere on/near the mountain
for the nighttime in the forest it would be cool to have a campsite somewhere and it can have a fire that lights up and a camping trailer with lights or something like that. i’m loving the castle!!
Something cool to add to the landscape around the castle would be an abandoned quarry, castles were almost always built near a quarry for ease of getting the amount of stone they needed. It would be a neat historical storytelling element to the set. And it would help break up the landscape into something more visually interesting than hills and trees.
Would be cool with some automatic "boom barriers" (schranke in German I think) for the rail crossing. Since from what I understand your brother is into electronics stuff it could probably be done with some string to raise and lower them controlled by stepper/servo motors.
This is amazing. Just one small detail and you don't have to pay attention to it, but at every castle the stairs spiral spins from left to right (if you know what i mean). It was built that way in case of enemy invison. The defenders could easily use their weapons as most of the population is and was right handed and it was harder fot the attackers to use theirs while climbing the stairs. Just a fun fact. I love your videos and please don't stop building. You're to talented
for the battle on the wall you could possibly add a camera drone filming above the battle to show the comedic gap in technology between the actors and the film crew even more!
