Instead of meditating with a sense of duality, a non-dual feeling of soham (He am I) is more purifying. That's the opinion of this verse.

Abidance of the mind in the Heart is action, devotion, yoga, and knowledge. This is definite.

The mind that gets absorbed by breath control can be annihilated by contemplation of the
    non-dual Self.

Pranayama can control breath, mind, and body, to achieve mental bliss. A physical body is born, out of 5 elements - water, fire, air, earth, and atmosphere-, in the shape of a human being, an animal, a bird, a plant, a rock, and a living& non-living being. The physical body grows, decays, and goes back to the original form of the 5 elements. Whereas the life (Atma) is never born or dies but keeps moving on from physical body to physical body. The physical body of the human being is the highest form, achieved due to good actions and thoughts (Karmas) , a platform to move ahead to the next stage of achieving MOKSHA.
