    Sweet! Excellent choice!
I have a soft spot for 1911’s. The first handgun that I shot was a ragged out Government Model 1911-A1 at age 14. Fell in love with it immediately. When I finally turned 21, my first handgun was a Colt Satin Nickel Combat Commander in 45 ACP. The first thing I did was put on a set of Pachmyar grips. Several months later, I was able to score a pre-WW2 nickeled Government National Match 1911-A1 with Micro Bullseye target sights, raised front sight and serialized barrel and bushing. That Beast is a real tack driver. About three years ago, I almost came home with a Colt M45A1 but I hesitated and it was gone the next day 😢.
    You chose a real beauty.

My wife is 4'10 and loves shooting a 1911 in 45. She has her polymers in 9mm, but after she shot my 1911s, she how wants her own. She just shoots it better than she shoots her PPQ or her p365. Our daughter also loves the 1911 and even has one of her own. And of course it's also in 45. No dual recoil springs in any of them. Just standard. Makes it easier for me personally to replace springs when needed if they all use the same spring.

Theres just something about the recoil impulse of a 45acp especially out of a steel frame 1911. I love my 9mms and own way more of them than i do 1911s due to the huge price difference, but the 1911 will always be my favorite handgun.

Its interesting every woman ive let shoot my colt. Just loves the 1911. They all say they like the way it feels. And they like the .45 CALIBER and everyone says they were fine with the recoil. Then they want one over all the the other pistols they say they have shot. And these are woman that dont really even shoot. I feel the same way it just feels right over any other handgun ive shot. I hate stryker fired. I am not a fan of plastic guns. I prefer the .45 myself over 9mm. or .40. They all feel like big bulky 2x4 in the hand.

Great to see the ladies getting into fine firearms. This bad baby will appreciate nicely and be a legacy piece. Let us know how it shoots. I went with a Sig Ultra carry with an alloy lower and Sig nite sights in 9mm 3.5 officer that weights in at 25 ozs. to carry and a Tisas Carry commander to tinker with 4.25 at 35 ozs. Believe it or not the Star BM9 and tinkering with it got me into the full 1911 platform. It was my "gateway drug" and a great set of training wheels for the real thing.

I started off with a Springfield 1911 basic government model and loved the gun how it was but I wanted to open up the door for myself with customizing a 1911. I put Nighthawk, Wilson Combats, Ed Brown, EGW, Nowlin parts, etc. So far I have put $2,000+ on my firearm. That’s not counting the price of the gun. Just like you said, it can become addicting customizing a firearm to get it how you want it. It’s amazing watching the transformation as you change parts. It’s good to hear from other people who share the same interest!

So I just noticed how vague my last message was and I apologize. Here is what I should have said,
I don’t purchase firearms for the amount of rounds they hold. Let me explain explain why, It is always better to have. It gives us the best peace of mind we can get. Like buying a car with a warranty. I would prefer buying one that comes with 100,000 mile warranty instead of 50,000, or getting more coverage on an insurance. But this is not always the case. If you trust your firearm and most importantly trust yourself with the firearm, you will hit your threat. I have researched a study conducted by the FBI that I believe they call there 3,3,3 rule. It explains that most gun fight occurrences are within 3 seconds, 3 feet, and 3 shots. Not every scenario is the same but you can stop the threat even with a revolver, just as long as you’re proficient with your firearm. This is where you tactics and everything you practice in the range comes in to play! Like your reaction time to someone’s action. Taking your handgun out of the holster and taking your first shot within 1.5 seconds or less may give you the advantage. You don’t have to get an expensive firearm like the Colt. One of my conceal carry is an M&P shield 2.0 single stack and I trust that firearm with my life and it was less the $450.00. Almost all handguns can stop a threat (more so with a .45 acp) as long as you are proficient with it. I hopes this gives a better explanation as to why I don’t mind the amount of rounds my firearm holds!!
Now i probably went overboard. Lol. Either way, I apologize for my short comment earlier.

I don’t think many understand what the colt custom shop puts out. I personally could care less who colt uses for parts if they are superior parts, the custom shop also uses egw, I also use egw in my custom builds.
they make some the best. Stan Chen the same.
I would much rather have some of the best parts made than an inferior mim part that colt made.
Really most true high end custom 1911s are made from a small circle of part builders. And only a few build 1911 parts to that level. With forged or tool steel parts, held to tighter tolerances.
Colt is simply not set up with the tooling needed say to make a sear. With the hardness, or tight tolerances that egw does everyday.
For the most part, colt does not need that level of precision for most guns they build.
The custom shop being only a faction of total sales.
    Anyway, it’s something to consider.
I love the gun you have, how is the frame to slide fit?
The bushing to frame? The barrel to bushing?
    How it the lock up?
Wish you would have shown the test target.
It is the end game to the questions I asked.
People the colt custom shop is not an off the shelf gun, and the examples I have seen are on par with other custom builders in quality and pricing. Including my own.
My colt custom shop competition, one of the favorite guns I own. And I own umm a few.

I apologize for the late response! Mommy duties called and I was unable to respond. I also wanted to say thank you for the comment and for watching my video! It’s much appreciated!! Anywho, I agree in regards to Colt picking the better quality parts for their firearms. I have no issues with it and have no complaints on how they integrated the Stan Chen parts into my 1911. I thought it would be something good to mention due to the fact I was unaware of this when I bought my first Colt and thought maybe some others might not know.
Everything locks up tight. I was skeptical on getting the 80 series because I wanted it to be as close to the original 1911 (70 series). However, frame to slide does have a bit of wiggle room. This maybe only something you can recognize when comparing it to another custom 1911 or measuring it yourself with a feeler gauge tool. I don’t see it being an issue in regards to being tight to give you the best accuracy. I believe the room may be good to avoid any malfunction. Again, it’s very very minimal.
It is a great gun. I was surprised to see how much work and detail the gunsmiths at Colt put into their firearms. I own other custom 1911’s and have compared the work. In my opinion, it was money well spent.
I hope this answered all of your questions!
I will be making a video soon regarding the tightness of the firearm and comparing it to another. Please, stay tuned!!

I completely agree. I think owning a firearm is like owning a car. Some don’t care about the details it comes with just as long as it runs and gets you from point A to point B. As soon as you add a new feature, it stands out. Just like a handgun, when you buy a firearm from the factory, it is at a great price and most of the time it is reliable. However, you can drastically notice the 3 lb trigger from a trigger kit/job than the factory trigger, or how precise and accurate it can be when you install a match grade barrel, even changing the recoil spring to suit one that stands up to your needs. Is it necessary to do all of this, absolutely not!! I just happen to love this as a hobby and a firearm begins to feel like a part of you and something you can pass down to your children (3 in my case) one day. It starts becoming more than something you can shoot, it becomes something you treasure, love, and have a passionate for!! I probably went way off topic but I hope I was able to get my point across. (This is being said from my heart, so please read it without the mindset of me being a female and automatically having an attitude) lol. Again, I completely agree with you that the RIA is a great gun, I am not trying to down talk at all. Thank you for commenting and watching my videos. It’s very much appreciated.

Very well done rundown on your new Colt. Kind of surprised me when a female likes a full-size 1911 .45 ACP. Colts aren’t cheap and never have been. There no doubt are better 1911’s out in the wild but if it doesn’t say Colt on it, it’s an imitation. One thing that bugs me about almost all reviews on You Tube re firearms is a real sit down on a rest accuracy test. Oh they have video of someone shooting the firearm sometimes, but rarely is a real accuracy test done and results shown. I won’t buy or keep a firearm that doesn’t meet my accuracy requirements. Anyway, quality has a price and it’s never cheap. Good luck with your videos.
