  • An honest review of my experience so far with the ACW Quantico 1911 and customer service. Includes upgrades from ACW & Nighthawk Customs.
    Not changing my recommendation after producing this video. That's just classless and makes the review confusing AF.
    I do realize that I keep calling the slide stop the "magazine release". Honest mistake.

      Hmmmmm but you admitted it ......and yet they still have tags saying faux custom when they are clearly saying in the video how great they are.....🤔 Like I said yesterday a man can admit thier errors if they have it in them.....

      They didn’t do you a solid. If the mags were working in other guns and they replaced the slide stop, it was a defective part.

    I just watched your ACW review and for your first video, I'm impressed by your clear and honest presentation. Well done! I too own an ACW product and I'm 100 percent in agreement with you on ACW's build quality. Awesome classic 1911s.
    Anyway, congrats on your first video and hopefully, many more to come!

    Oh man, I totally understand how you felt when they pulled that slide stop BS. That is a somewhat blatant cover up of an issue that is obviously not the magazines. Ya, the followers may have been a touch worn, but the ACW slide stop was probably not quite right and would only lock back on brand new followers or followers with a tall lock back ledge.
    If I was in your shoes (and I have been there with a Dan Wesson that had to go back twice), having had good experiences with ACW up to then, I would probably call them out in a very friendly way and ask them to be straight with me. If they really couldn't manage being honest about it (maybe yours was not the only one and there was some denial going on) I would pay for the slide stop and work. If I was feeling petty, I might tell them to keep the followers, as I really don't need them.
    It might change how I deal with them in the future though. I know how some of these shops can be, depending on the personality running it. I don't think Schauland is very good at hearing customers say his shops work or parts can have issues. He kinda seems like he might be a prick, but I do think ACW makes the best 1911's for 3-4k by far. They are beautiful. Many great artists are assholes, so him being a bit of a prick fits for me. Still want one.

    This is a very well spoken and fair review. I don’t think you could have posssibly described Eli any better, but for Nick I’d say not only is he a used car salesman, but a “buy here pay here” used car salesman. 😂🤣
    I also like that ACW has their standard models but will allow for you to tweak certain things to make it yours.
    And I agree about the worst $100 you ever spent. Haha!
    Well done, brother. Your first video was a lot better than mine!

    Great first video! Love the plant. Great accent to the shot. Alchemy aesthetics are second to none. Classic meets modern. I eneded up buying a springfield garrison because I cannot yet afford an alchemy or cabot, replaced all the MIM with wilson parts, added Stan Chen magwell, and currently have grips on order from highfiguregrips. It will look just like a prime elite 😅

      I never thought I’d own a firearm this expensive either but I made a plan and simply paid off my bill over time while it was being built. Was surprisingly easy actually. Just a small bit from my check every payday.

    Phenomenal Video! I absolutely love the Quantico Series. Like you, I have little to no interest in non-railed guns these days. I have a few non-railed guns, but its pretty minimal. I had the Hi-Cap for a while. I had to move it for financial reasons, but one day Lord willing, I plan to come back and pickup the Quantico in 9mm, 45 and 2011 style. (Lord help my bank account). Their team has been wonderful helping me with questions and meeting them at SHOT/NRA show was well worth it.
    Keep up these reviews! You did a phenomenal job, lets see the rest of your collection!! (shoot em too!)

    Super gun. I agree on the Alchemy Script being desirable, which, for me, is unusual. I normally prefer clean slides. The Alchemy script looks awesome, though. Surprised you didn't do ball cuts when you had the frame cut, squared.
    I'd have also been disappointed with the way they handled the slide lock failures.
    Good call on moving past the fake worn smoked mess from NHC. Can't go wrong with DLC.

      @JoeFromTheAfternoon  Рік тому

      I forgot to go into more detail about the DLC but I’m super impressed with it! Easily one of the best things about the gun now. Ball cuts were considered but I opted out at the time. I do agree it looks a bit better with them

      @michaell397 Рік тому

      No reason to be disappointed with the way they handled the slide lock issue. My Les Baer TRS experienced exactly the same issue with the Wilson 47D mags, (the ones shown here) until at least 500 rounds thru the gun. No issues with Les Baer mags which are also polymer followers. No issues with any other mags at all.

      And now that I've watched the whole video.... That was clearly a clerical error, you should have emailed Nick. They never would have charged you for slide stop/release work on a new gun. If you had already had nighthawk refinish it...that would've been another thing but I guarantee they didn't mean to charge you for the work. I got my double stack Quantico direct from them completely DLC'd and it's one hell of a shooter.

  • @solodad001

    I have a Prime Elite that I had to send back for an issue where the frame was digging into my middle finger at the knuckle due to my thicker finger bones (mechanic/arm-wrestling/boxing) on the high undercut. I was prepared to pay for the blending/hard-chrome refinish.....they didn't charge me a dime. BTW my pistol is seriously smooth and has a great trigger too. The customer service was top notch. I may be getting a Quantico down the road too. Vg video.

    I’m having the same issue mentioned at 10:35 with my Baer UTC. It works fine with some Wilson ETM’s but Tripp cobras and a 47 are giving me issues locking back with an empty mag when working it by hand. All these mags work fine with my Wilson CQB.

    Nice Quantico! Cant wait to get my Prime Elite. Wish I would of pulled the trigger a long time ago and had Rob customize my Springfield or get one of the early ACW pistols. I really love the clean look with no FCS. Once I decided I was going to order it took me awhile to decide ambi safety or not and what finish. I also went back and forth on the front sight being a gold bead or fiber optic. I ended up with a 2-tone finish, no ambi, and the gold bead for the traditional look. If I get a Quantico later on it would be a fiber optic front sight, ambi, dlc, and flat trigger.

    Good first video....like your honest commentary about your experiences with ACW. That you're okay now with having been billed for something you said should have been covered by the warrantee at one point in the video...ehe...i'd have a slight problem with that. I mean if it was THE GUN....that something was missed in their QC before they shipped the gun (yes, it happens)...the customer shouldn't have had to pay a penny. LIke how you were still complimentary afterwards...
    And this does prove even ACW aren't "bullet proof". I guess no company is. But how they treat us AFTER the sale does speak voumes...
    Not to attack ACW but...years ago I made a comment about their phtoography which to me looked like they used a phone...that maybe they should hire a "product photographer" since they are selling high-end custom 1911's. I tried to be polite...but someone who asnwers instagram comments took offense and make a remark about my English....heh....which I know is more than fine....college grad...English was one of my best subjects in high school, JHS...etc. So again they aren't "bullet proof"...
    Take away from this video and my comments? Don't expect t the royal treatment....flawless treatment/product...just because you spent upwards of $44k....Would I buy an ACW 1911? still? Yes.....as "stuff happens"...from Cabot too....if i could afford it :)) Or justify. To put a metal slug through paper. ...as a recretaional shooter.
    Look fwd to your next video...

    I realized that custom 1911s aren’t for me. I want a gun that’s combat accurate and works. Colts and Springfield’s are good enough for me. I’ve had 0 issue’s with both companies but issues with 3 customs, and 1 custom single action army. In fact my favorite gun is a simple Springfield armory mil-spec.

    Wilson's advertising hype machine has done a great job of pushing the idea that they make the best 1911 magazines, they absolutely do not!
    They aren't terrible though so don't take this as mindless bashing because I do own three Wilson magazines and they aren't bad at all, better than Factory, however, the Wilson 47 / ETM is vastly inferior to the trip research Cobra mag or Chip McCormick Power Mags or RPM mags. The reason is because Wilson's followers are more susceptible to ware because of the polymer surface that interfaces with the slide stop. The trip is the best of both world because they have a steel insert to interface with the slide stop and the rest of the follower is polymer. McCormick RPM has an all-steel follower and its speed lips are also more durable. Do some research and try those other mags and you'll be sold my friend
