Thank you for sharing such a complete simple recipe. I made this yesterday for the first time and it came out beautiful. One of the cakes is completely gone.
Pudding texture! That's what I grew up on. Yummy. This recipe is a keeper. I'm on a mission to make multiple recipes and see how they come out. Many thanks!
That looks soooo good!! I prefer the moist pudding taste......ive watched a ton a videos on how to make this cake....but yours is the best in explaining how to do the fruits!! Thanks so much! This will be my first time!
I prefer the pudding texture especially when it’s soaked well in the rum and wine.. lol.. making mine tonight!!! Thanks for the two ways to make them!! Yours looks really good!!
I prefer the pudding texture …. That’s my favorite with some sherry icing. I’m going to try to make this myself as I usually rely on friends to make this kind of pudding every year at Christmas.
Hi Jerene, thanks for much for your recipe. This is the texture I prefer. I wanted to know if there is a substitute for browning. I'm a Jcan living in Costa Rica and browning is not available here but I really want to try this❤
If I have the mixed spice how much do I use,and how much brown sugar if I don't have white sugar?..you're cake looks delicious and thank you for sharing it with us..
At LEAST 1 tsp however the flavour/concentration of different brands vary so if you're not squeamish about tasting batter...taste the batter and add more if you need to.
I don't measure at that point. But as you can see in the video at about 4:08 , I don't put too much because they won't be soaked for months, they're going into the blender. So pour enough to get your puree to the consistency similar to mine shown here 4:48
My fruits have been soaking for almost two months. I have them in a glass jar covered with the wine and rum. Do I need to stir them every once in a while or is it ok that I left them undisturbed in a dark cool cupboard?
@@JerenesEats LOL Thank you so much I was busy writing down everything you have in the description I missed all of that!!! I will be making this soon! Thanks you again
Mixed Spice is usually added to Fruit/Christmas cake. I have no mixed spice at home so the spices I've used in this cake are those usually found in mixed spice. Coriander is one of those spices.
Hi, No Frills, Superstore and other supermarkets usually have the dried fruits. Yes you could use just wine but the flavour is definitely BETTER with rum added
I am like you. Im happy as long as the flavour is correct but half cakey/half puddingy is ideal to me. Ive tasted so many cakes over the years as well and I know the correct but have never enjoyed baking. I L❤️VE this cake & I will be making my first tomorrow using stewed fruits since I did not soak ahead. I will prepare fruits for soaking for next year though. Thank you for sharing. Merry Christmas 🎄
@@harmonybridge2740 Perhaps you've looked at the ingredients only. They are very similar. Have a look at the video and check out the differences in the methods.
Maybe...too much fruits or too much liquid or excess mixing or raised then sunken because of constantly checking oven. There are so many things that could cause it love. I'm hoping this time it works out for you if you try my "cakey" recipe. ua-cam.com/video/F2dlFhpiNpc/v-deo.html
If you WATCH THE VIDEO you will notice that I did not add cilantro herb I added coriander POWDER. Also...the popularly used MIXED SPICE that is usually added to Fruit cake sometimes contains Coriander powder depending on the brand or the region in which you live.
@@anntonettechickorie9725 if you were to purchase a British brand of mixed spice you may see coriander listed as an ingredient. The same way allpurpose seasonings ingredients vary from brand to brand. An allpurpose seasoning in Jamaica might differ from one in North America or India.

Hi dear! You may do your own burnt sugar in a pot and add water. I don't have a video for this, but good news is...there are many recipes online.

Okay one last question I'm about to add the rum and wine . Do I drain the wine off when blending or just blend everything (puree)

What temperature did you set your oven at

Can I use breadcrumbs in this mixture to get the pudding consistency?
Question, when we let it sit overnight do we cover it?
It'll still be hot so don't cover it until it is cool. You can use a light kitchen towel or mesh if it's still hot when going to bed
