Robot mobs are not going to clean as deeply as a mop and bucket. If that's your expectation, you are going to be disappointed. In my view, robot mops are great at cleaning light to moderate messes and great at maintaining clean floors.
Does it have any accessories that can reach into tighter spaces or is it only capable of cleaning where the whole machine can fit? Does it have any mechanism to apply pressure/scrub?
@@peachy842 It does not. It can only clean where the entire machine can fit. The pressure is generated by the weight of the machine itself to gently scrub and remove. Sometimes it can take a couple of passes to remove more stuck on dirt.
Highly recommended. I purchased one today and I've already done 3 x passes of the entire apartment. It's incredible. Also tried using an enzyme floor cleaning liquid in the reservoir diluted with water with great success!
Great review. I also noticed your Do Hard Things book. That is a great book. We took our kids about 15 years ago to see the brothers that wrote it in Indiana. We still have the audio version. Thanks again. We ordered the M6 tonight thanks to your video.
Great review, really nice video. I liked that you put a summary of the different sections at the beginning so we can jump directly to the ones we want. Keep up the good work :-)
Thanks so much! I'm glad you like the time codes addition in the beginning. We just started doing that a few months ago, seems like it was a good addition :)
I use it everyday and it’s great. Few bugs, I’m sure they will update,it does have threshold issues, but hey I just tell it to go and help it over, then it does the rest. That’s just the bathroom though, so it’s not everyday. Does great keeping the kitchen and walkways constantly clean and when it works in tandem with the i7 vacuum I’m a happy man. However, there’s a few spots it can’t reach and that’s fine, but no more dust bunny’s under the couch and bed.
You're right, Sean. I put off buying the m6 because of the threshold issue. But iRobot has now added a Threshold feature. Here's how it works (from iRobot home support website): "Whenever your Braava encounters an area where you've added a Threshold, it will disable rug ride-up detection and maneuver itself over the perceived obstacle. Your Braava will know where it can mop more space at once without needing to be manually carried into other rooms by you."
So I just purchased the bundle with this mop and the 9s+ vac I have 2 questions. 1 can I use the mapping feature from the vac for the mop or does the mop need to map its own and 2nd my bedroom is carpet but restroom is hardwood can the mop go over the carpet to get to the restroom or will I have to pick it up and move it every time
I really like the Roomba brava jet. It seems to clean very well my hardwood floors however, when it’s on the charging station, the white light on the machine keeps blinking. I do not know if this is normal, and if not, please tell me how to turn it off. Thank you.
Usually when I see a video like this that has only positive feedback with zero negative input I automatically think it’s a paid endorsement or the company has supplied these products free of charge for the review. I’ve been using iRobot products since they first hit the marketplace and none of them are 100% effective. They all have issues.
Perhaps I should have spent more time on the negatives. While there certainly are issues, the issues are far less dramatic than other brands I've tested. The m6 is still among the best robot mops on the market, especially at this price point. Granted, Roborock's S7 MaxV Ultra is indeed better, in addition to Narwal's T10, those are massively more expensive.
I've had 2 Roborock S6 vacuums for 3 years now (one for each floor of the house). I only need wet mopping on the first floor and decided to purchase the m6. Roborock and the m6 can't share the same map, and that's ok, but I have to say the Roborock mapping is light years ahead of the m6. I knew beforehand that the m6 can't handle threshholds and it really can't. The Roborock will climb over just about anything! For many locations in our house, I have to pick up the m6 and bring it to the desired area. Our family room is half carpeting and half wood. Unfortunately, the carpet is counter-sunk and is at the same level as the carpet. The m6 can't tell the difference and will try to wet mop the carpet. To prevent this, I had to set up barriers along the line dividing carpet from floor during the mapping process. It works fine now. The setup was very easy but the mapping process is somewhat confusing and takes a few tries to get it right. I love that I can name rooms, divide rooms, etc. Braava now supports a few different liquid cleaners you can add to the water (see the Braava m6 entry on Amazon for a current list). I've been using Bona concentrate (for hardwood floors) and it has done a great job without streaking. If you wish to use a cleaner for hard surfaces like ceramic tile, Bona has a separate product that also is streak-free. For my needs, the m6 is great and I'm happy with it, despite a few limitations. For wet mopping, I'd recommend the reusable mopping pads as a money-saving alternative. As for cleaning solutions, buy the concentrate rather than the pre-diluted liquid cleaner. No need to pay for water and the added shipping cost.
I have an iRobot Vacuum and I love it. I was looking for an iRobot Mop but I do not see that this iRobot worth the money, especially if it's just simply water. It doesn't heat up the water nor I can't add floor cleaner. It will even be faster to spot mop manually vs, starting the mop and trying to point it to the dirty spot. Here I see some people asked if it cleaned up a pet urine, I personally would not do it, because again you can't add floor detergent to disinfect the spot and remove the odor. The thought of letting the iRobot to run around and go back to the source with a dirty pad soaked in urine is very gross. I will be looking and waiting for a better product to come up in the market though.
Thanks! Unfortunately, no. You cannot add cleaners to the tank. It will almost certainly break the machine. There is a special cleaner that iRobot sells. That's the only stuff you can use without risking breaking the machine.
Braava sells its own cleaner for the Braava 6 and has very recently approved the use of Bona (liquid or concentrate) floor cleaner. I use the Bona concentrate in mine and it does a great job without streaking. There are one or two other cleaners that can be used. I'd go to Amazon and read the list under the Braava Jet M6. I believe Fabuloso and a Clorox product are now allowed.
Compared to my old 2014 Neato Signature, the Irobot Braava Jet m6 has a very bad navigation sensors bumping too much inside ther house and frequentlly getting lost.
Watched your review, which addressed all of my concerns, and ordered! Thank you so much for a clear, articulate and straightforward review! New subscriber!
Hi Derek i am debating whether to get the irobot i7 and m6 bundle or the roborock s5max may u make a video explaining which one is better because i am debating which mop is better because I haven’t owned any of the two i just have a roomba which has been running for me for 8 years thank you for helping me if u respond!
As a mop the m6 is better than the S5 Max. As a vacuum on carpets the i7 is better than the S5 Max. However, S5 Max is a better navigator than both...and of course it's a 2 in one. S5 Max is the best overall value, but combined together I think the i7 + m6 bundle is the stronger performer.
@@jackieyuu It's hard to say what will win out in the future, but as of right now, robots with LIDAR + Camera sensors perform far better with respect to navigation than VSLAM alone.
Modern Castle oh good to know are you going to be reviewing the iRobot i3 plus? If so do u mind doing a little quick comparison with the i7. If you do so thank you so much! Keep up the great work!
@@jackieyuu Yes, we will absolutely do a Roomba i3 review. At a quick glance, the big difference is that the i3 cannot clean specific rooms by name and cannot create keep out zones. Otherwise, they seem very similar. But as always, we'll do a complete analysis of the specs, features, and of course include our performance tests. You can expect those videos to be coming soon and our contextual reviews / comparisons will also be posted to moderncastle.com
@@user-hk3fs1ds9b Braava and Roomba are made by the same company, iRobot. Shark and iRobot are separate companies. iRobot makes it so the Braava and Roomba can work together by linking them together within the iRobot app. iRobot does not allow Shark to integrate with Roomba and Braava models.
Best review I've seen in a longtime :) One question. I have white pigmented wooden floors, which need a special wash to keep re-adding the pigment and protective layer with every wash. Do you think I can add the pigmented soap to the water tank in the robot?
iRobot doesn't recommend adding anything but water to the M6. If it's particularly gentle soap you would probably be okay, but in general I would avoid it.
Roborock vacuums and mops at the same time. Vacuum is on the front of the bot, mop on the back. Yes, it can be used on laminate. In general, laminate is water resistant. But you should double check with your floor's manufacturer if you're concerned.
Cleaning pad is washable. So you really shouldn't need to replace. Cleaning solution isn't very expensive - amzn.to/3xidex3 Though you can also just use water in the unit.
Can the mop work together with Roomba i3+ because I just bought the mop and I returned the shark robot and we need to buy another vacuum robot but we don’t know which one to buy that works together with the braava jet m6
I'm not sure if there's a gap in translation here, but I think what you're saying is you have a home with multiple floors. In which case, that's fine. m6 can map multiple floor levels. If I misunderstood you please let me know.
@@MalcolmfromNY iRobot has now added a Threshold feature. @modern castle nice review . I have few doubts if you could please clarify 1. How good it would be on white marble flooring ? 2. Its design in such a way that mop is in front and wheels are back side. So will not it leave marks of its own wheels while moving forward to mop the floor ? If possible can you show close up of tile in next video
1. We didn't test on marble floor, but I don't have any reason to believe the performance would be massively better / worse on marble relative to any hard surface flooring. 2. Some users have reported the M6 leaving tire marks on their floors. Despite our efforts, we were never able to replicate this behavior. I expect it's a problem that's more likely depending on floor type and floor finish.
Lorne Barichello Is there a cleaning solution in the wet pads? If not, what can be used to clean the floors. I'm not a fan of scents as a cleaning solution.
It accepts water as well as iRobot's cleaning solution, which you can find here - amzn.to/358AAsI You can use other cleaning products as well, but it may void your warranty and may damage the robot.
good video.. I see features discussed about moping, wet spot cleaning etc. i have a couple of questions ,,how does it work in a room of a wooden floor but a smaller portion covered with carpet..and a wooden floor room with furniture how does it navigate the underneath furniture spots..thks
As far as getting under furniture, it does a nice job. It has a low and lean profile, so it can get under many furniture pieces. In most cases (at least all the case I've tested), when it sees carpet it will not continue onto the carpet. So long as it has a hard surface path around the carpet it'll continue to clean your hard surfaces though.
Excellent review, I have i7 plus & M6, both work well, just love the Hey Google start. I have a holiday apartment and plan on buying i9 and M6, it has mostly tile floors and large outdoor tile area. How does M6 perform on outdoor areas? Can I use the same iRobot account for phone or tablet for both locations? Will it work by using different map names?
M6 is not recommended for outdoor areas. And using it there will most likely void your warranty. Yes, you can use the same iRobot app on phone and tablets. As far as different locations, I'm not sure about that. In theory, it should work though. You may need to just login to different accounts within the app to access the specific location info.
I have natural travertine stone floors which are slightly uneven or bumpy. Will the Braava m6 get stuck and will it be able to clean slightly uneven floors, evenly? Thanks.
No, those should be perfectly fine. The m6 can handle gaps in the range of 0.5 to 0.75". As long as your floor gaps aren't any worse than that it'll handle it.
It would have been nice to compare it to the iRobot Braava jet 240 which is available for less than half the price of the m6. Also, rather than just tell us what is wonderful about the product, it would be useful to hear where it was not so great and what could be better.
You can see a side by side comparison here - moderncastle.com/braava-m6-review/#compare As far as areas where the m6 isn't as good...quite frankly, there just aren't that many. It's the best navigation and cleaning performance we've seen in a robot mop to date by a healthy margin. The biggest downside is simply the price point. Perhaps the biggest downside is that they don't include washable cleaning pads with the m6, so you have to buy those extras. Given the price point, it really should include those, in my view.
Yes. If you buy it in the EU (rather than an import from abroad) then any features advertised will work just fine. If you buy an import, you'd probably still be fine but there's always a risk certain features won't work.
For $500 I don't think there are many noteworthy cons on the m6. If I had to pick something, some users have reported marks left by the tires on dark floors. However, it wasn't something I experienced during our tests, so I didn't include it. Beyond that, I really don't think there's much negative to say about. It's arguably the best robot mop on the market.
Is there a real fix for houses with room divisions, saddles, thresholds, or whatever you call them? I’ve added thresholds to the map, covered sensors, things I’ve seen on the internet, but nothing works. Do all you guys have either flat or no transition zones between rooms? It can’t even map the house, because it can’t move from room to room. What is the fix for getting this unit from room to room without picking it up each time?
I have hardwood and tile, Is there any reason to dry mop considering I have a s9 vacuum that would run before the mop cycle. Or would I be able to just leave it in wet mop mode for both floor types?
I'd probably just leave it in wet mop mode for both floor types. Just turn the water volume down for your hardwoods, since too much water can be damaging on hardwoods. Dry mode is best for floors that are so delicate that any water would damage them.
@@ModernCastle That sounds perfect. I was worried about the extra "human intervention" of swapping back and forth. Thanks for the quick reply, and an informative review!
It's funny how people recommend this product because they purchased it today and it cleaned their floor. I would highly advise against this mop. Having used it for 1.5 years, this device is a constant battle to make it work properly. Often doesn't start because there's something wrong with maps; manually programming it to mop the whole house often ends with it just doing one room and finishing the job. It gets lost, takes 10 minute to dock and opens a "secret passage" to another world on the map which is the length of multiple maps. Yes, it cleans the floor. But requires a babysitter.
Modern Castle I appreciate your quick response. I haven’t heard about that combo. Any chance you reviewed that? Our main floor is all hardwood and about 3500 square feet. Plus 1000 upstairs. 3500 in basement. No carpet anywhere.
Btw thanks a lot for the help. I have 2 questions. First. Does it mean that because it has a camera it can avoid obstacles thanks to just the camera or it anyways have to bump into object to notice it and the camera is just for mapping? Second. What would you do after a long time of use that the wheels got hair in them and debris and therefore start malfunctioning. Can you disassemble and clean them or its like the old 240 braava that its not possible?
It still will bump into things, just less often. Once it has your home mapped it has a much better idea of where it is and where it's going. But it doesn't mean it never bumps into stuff. The wheels don't remove super easily, but it does look like there is a screwed plate on the back that would come over and provide better access to the wheels if you need it.
How does the M6 go at the top of the stairs? Does it do the lemming leap and fall down the stairs? Or if I wanted to use it on our hardwood-floored outside verandah, how would we stop it falling off the edge? Is there a way to fix a boundary cable under the verandah edge, for example, with a powered FM signal in it that is recognized by the M6 in the same way the Hidden Fence keeps our dogs in?
It has drop sensors, so it will not fall off stairs or other large drops. The m6 does have smart digital maps also. So you can create keep out zones to keep it away from certain ledges, obstacles, or anything else you don't want it near.
Will this mop go over 1/2 inch beveled edges? Wondering if it is going to be able to go from living room to kitchen since the surface levels are slightly different.
It doesn't. The m6 is not designed to clean grease. I expect it would do okay, but not great. You should get a more traditional mop if you have floors covered with any significant volume of grease.
It sprays 3-4 inches in front and the spray is probably 3 inches wide. I have never seen it spray a carpet or rug (I think the sensors are able to understand when to NOT spray), but even if it does...it's a fairly small amount of water for each spray. Regarding hardwoods - you should check with your hardwood manufacturer to see if it's safe to use water on your hardwood floors. Most hardwood floors should not be cleaned with water. However, the dry dusting feature on the M6 works great (that's what I do primarily in my home)
So after watching your review, I decided to buy this robot mop. I have had it for a few months now and everything is good. But I have noticed recently in the last week or so that my Braava is making a weird bird-like chirping noise after every spray. I don't remember hearing this sound before. Is this normal?
@@ModernCastle so I think I know what's going on. Whenever I use deep cleaning mode, it makes this noise. But if I use the standard or extended coverage it does not make this noise. Do you happen to use deep or the other modes?
@@thiluong6678 Generally not. I have mostly hardwoods, so I leave it on the most gentle setting. We used deep cleaning during our initial tests when we tried it on tile, but I haven't used it since then.
1. Double check the app and make sure your water spray is turned on 2. Make sure you're using a mopping pad and not the dry dusting pad 3. Make sure the nozzle isn't clogged (hard water could clog it over time)
@@Suffe15 Ah sorry, I misunderstood. It can do 250'ish on a single battery charge. As far as water goes, I would estimate at least 200 and likely closer to 250. It routinely does our entire studio on a single tank / single charge with water to spare, which is about 200 sq. meters.
@@ModernCastle - that's a good amount of water for cleaning! And you're definitely talking sq.meters and not sq. feet?? Thanks & your videos are great!
I would say it really depends on the level of grease. Small to medium amounts it should have less of an issue with and be able to soak them into the cleaning pad / clothe. However, if it's a larger amount it's more likely to not be able to fully soak it up, therefore spreading it.
I believe you can adjust the amount of spray on the app, another reviewer mentioned a similar issue and said having it spray less helped with the streaks.
In most cases, I recommend what I know. We haven't tested the Deebot 920, so I really cannot say how good / bad it is. However, we have extensively tested the m6. In our studio tests and extended home-use tests it has been fantastic, both as a mop and dry duster.
I do not find it sensible to wipe up liquid honey. More sensible and realistic, I find dried dirt, e.g. Coffee, dirt from wet shoes, etc. And unfortunately the Braava Jet M6 left behind visible tire marks - not good! So, nice review but it would be great if you also would name the negative things next time! Greating, Doc64!
You're not wrong. We like to use honey as it feels like the most extreme thing you could do vs. a mop (and something we've done on almost all of our other mop tests). So that's why we use that. But, I agree, for something like that most people are more likely to simply wipe it up with a rag or cloth. I have seen other reviewers complain about the tire marks, but that's not something we experienced when we tested. If we had, we would have called it out as an issue. Do you have an m6 currently?
It can map multiple floors. Thus far, we've been impressed with the navigation. We have a sort of a big L-shaped downstairs and it does a nice job of working its way through the whole thing.
Hello, thanks for the review! I have 2 questions: 1. Does the braava m6 spray to the furniture by mistake? 2. Do we need to use destilled water? We live in a place with hard water and limestone could be an issue. Thanks!
1. It seems to do a good job of detecting furniture and making sure to not spray it. During our tests I never have seen it spray furniture or carpet. 2. It would probably help, but I don't believe that iRobot recommends or requires distilled water.
Cool Info! Two doubts 1. You can use a drop of bleach mixed with water directly in the tank of the Braava M6. 2 In my Braava there is a coupling problem you would know how to solve it. Thank you, congratulations on the video provided.
1. Regarding the bleach, I know iRobot does not recommend that. So we have not tried it. I'm not sure how that would impact the M6's operation 2. For the coupling problem, I would suggest you factory reset the robot and then reconnect to wifi. That usually resolves issues like that.
@@ModernCastle 1. The highlights for you coincide with the place that sells them, (I don't know if it is so that you buy the expensive liquid product from them or if it can be done). When in doubt, I recommend placing bleach on the floor to disinfect and then pass the Braava, (although it was ideal, if you could put a droplet of bleach in the tank water). * There is another product or a container even bigger and cheaper than can be used in the Brava robot *. 2. I did this by resetting it and reconfiguring it, but the "coupling problem" remained the same, Now I noticed that when I left the 1. "Pantry Room" where I placed the Roomba, as well as in the 2. "Main Bathroom" and 3. "Toilette", there is a small step on the floor. There are three places with steps and the "1. Pantry Room", the most important from where it comes out and has the base. (Home Base) That difference in the floors the Braava lowers it but does not raise it, (different with the Roomba that climbs obstacles carpets with ease). There it is like to be tied, it seems to me and it says "Coupling Problems or Battery is spent and it does not return to the home base", then send only to clean once the map has been achieved, the area without leaving the step of the "1. Pantry room "and returned alone to its base without coupling problem," I think that is the answer. " * I would be interested in your opinion * Excelente info and video, and I really appreciate your answer, they help me a lot.
@@CRAFT2847WITCH It's unclear. It may be perfectly fine, especially if it's a mild cleaning solution. I would definitely avoid anything overly harsh or strong chemicals.
I have a Bissell Cleaner & because I did not run clean water when I was done the mopping part; the soap I used dried & clogged it a bit, so then it didn't work properly. Once you're done washing - just run clear/clean water thru it and that should get rid of any soap residue. IMO
I still could not tell how it cleans. Does is shoot out mop water and then suck it up? Does it just use a bit of a damp pad, which is what I got out of it. WHAT DOES IT ACTUALLY DO?
It has a spray nozzle on the front. It shoots water out in front of the mop from that nozzle then drives over it with a microfiber mopping pad on the bottom of the base.
Great detailed review. What about the types of floor it works on? I have ceramic tile, a more rough surface. Do you think it would work? I currently use a swiffer and have to apply some pressure to it.
It works on all hard surface floor types. The thing with robot mops is they are great because they are automated...so they just always run. That said, I've yet to test a robot mop that I would say is a 100% replacement for a traditional mop. They do a great job at light to moderate messes and are also ideal for maintenance style cleaning. However, you should still keep your Swiffer or other traditional mop. You won't need to use that traditional map nearly as often, but there will be times when the robot mop just isn't enough.
Excellent review. Got our Roomba 696 yesterday and it was great. Seemed to cover all the places and actually got back to base without getting lost. Very impressed with the cleaning too. This looks very good but is a higher tech device compared to our robot vac. Would you recommend anything that might be more of a match to the 696? Our apartment isn't huge but does have a mix of hardwood floors and ceramic tiles.
That's great! I'm glad to hear you like the 696. For the mop, get the Braava Jet 240 - amzn.to/2UpGP6s It's a perfect match for the 696 in terms of performance and budget. Especially since your apartment isn't huge the 240 will more than meet your needs. You can find our review here -moderncastle.com/best-mop/irobot-braava-jet-240-review/
I'm really considering upgrading to a robot mop but I have a question for those more knowledgeable individuals. Does the mopping function spread or drag whatever dirt it cleans to other areas of the room? I have 2 cats, one of which is a 3 month old kitten. Every now and then he tracks small bits of poop from his litterbox on to the floor. That's just a part of being a kitten, they eventually grow out of it in adulthood. Anyway, this is the reason I'm interested in getting a robot mop, but 'm afraid it might simply spread a thin layer of pop infused water around the entire apartment. Does anyone have any experience with this problem?
Yes, that can and will definitely happen with the Braava m6. What you need is a robot that vacuums and mops at the same time. That way it vacuums up the solid particulates first and then mops behind. Take a look at the Roborock S7 MaxV - moderncastle.com/roborock-s7-maxv-ultra-review/
It stops and gives you an error warning. If the tank is full before you start a run it has plenty of water to finish the run before needing to be filled again.
@@josephlemons Relatively easy. I usually take mine to the kitchen faucet and fill it up. But if you have a small squirt bottle you could fill it right at the floor without issue. There's a little reservoir that sits in the middle of the unit. You can pull the entire thing out to fill it up. The hole to fill it up is fairly large.
High school teacher in Hawaii here. One of our biggest drawbacks is we have red dirt, which can stain things quickly. I'm wondering, would this device be able to sweep/mop my classroom? Would it be able to detect the legs of our lab tables and the legs of our student desks and avoid them? The thickness of the legs range from like 1 inch to 4 inches, would it be able to avoid them? At the start of the year we get one floor stripping/waxing which of course makes the floor look great. But as the year goes on, students track in dirt, and the floor slowly gets stained/dirty. I should mention, our floor is hard tile (ceramic). I usually have my students do a sweep/mop once a month, but this would be great to just maintain cleanliness overall. Really hope you are able to answer my questions as I am definitely considering getting one of these.
The m6 can definitely mop the area, but it's not a sweeper. It can dry dust or wet mop. Most likely it's going to run into the desk legs and then continue. iRobot's technology, even in the most advanced form, still will bump into furniture as it figures out where everything is in the room. Once it has a better understanding of the area that will decrease over time. Based on what you've described I think you should consider a Roborock S6 MaxV or a Roborock S5 Max. Roborock S6 MaxV - amzn.to/3iLTU3V Roborock S5 Max - amzn.to/357YX7z?tag=moderncastle-20 Both of the above models both vacuum and mop at the same time. Vacuum is positioned ahead of the mop. This allows it to remove debris before mopping. Now, the mop isn't a miracle worker, but it will help to keep the dirt and dust down over time. You can see our S6 MaxV video here - ua-cam.com/video/AqDd5cy-pqg/v-deo.html - we don't have a S5 Max video, but it's basically the same except for slightly worse obstacle detection and about $200 less expensive.
Lol - Partly due to a furniture setup, partly due to me blocking off a large section of the downstairs to keep the robot cleaning around the photography area.
Coverage ranges, but in general it should be able to cover up to 2,000 square feet. With respect to tile, again, it ranges based on uneven those tile surfaces are. I've used my m6 on a pretty standard modern kitchen tile without any issues on the grout line.

@@jameslinisus thank you, ill try it.
Just purchased one after watching your review!
That's great! I hope you enjoy the M6 as much as I do.
@@ModernCastle Will do. Hopefully it will arrive today. I already have a Roomba vacuum cleaner... So looking forward to seeing how the combo works.

Will this go from the hardwood kitchen over carpet and then clean the bathroom? Or do you have to pick it up and move it?
For low pile carpets and rugs, yes, but if the carpet / rug is extra thick it can have trouble.
Am I able to add pinesol or fabuloso to the water to make it smell nice? Or will it affect the robot
You are not. It very likely cause the robot to stop working.
So I just purchased the bundle with this mop and the 9s+ vac I have 2 questions. 1 can I use the mapping feature from the vac for the mop or does the mop need to map its own and 2nd my bedroom is carpet but restroom is hardwood can the mop go over the carpet to get to the restroom or will I have to pick it up and move it every time
1. The mop will draw its own map.
2. You'll need to pick it up, the mop won't drive over carpet it detects.
I really like the Roomba brava jet. It seems to clean very well my hardwood floors however, when it’s on the charging station, the white light on the machine keeps blinking. I do not know if this is normal, and if not, please tell me how to turn it off. Thank you.
If I remember correctly, the white light will blink during charging. I wouldn't worry about it.
EXCELLENT
Thank you but does it do vacuum for carpets?
It does not. It's only for mopping hard surface flooring.
How wet is the floor when it is completed an area?
Lightly damp. There isn't a huge amount of water.

Great review and thanks for the straight forward info
You're very welcome!
Did that thing just full throttle into your couch while cleaning the green water?
oh, no no. We tried to keep it away from the couch. No sofas were harmed in this video.
Good review--thank you.
You're welcome!
Can this be used just as a vacuum without wet mop
No. It is not a vacuum at all. You can use it to dry dust or wet mop, but not vacuum.
Have hardwood floors with a dusty house. Have an i4 Roomba. Can I dump the i4 and use this instead or do I need both?
Both would definitely be better than just one or the other.
Great review, How long would you say it would take for it to clean a 600 square foot room?
Somewhere between 90 minutes and 2 hours, depending on how complex the layout is.
Can Bravo get over carpet to get to another room that it needs to clean
No. It will only stay on hard surface floors that it's capable of mopping or dusting.
Can you pick it up and carry it to another room that has a hard floor and have it still navigate effectively?
love the video, just a quick question will I be able to mix water with clorox or fabuloso to the tank and will it still work?
Between the home station to kitchen are about 100 sqf long , will this m6 have problem to return back to charge station ?
No, not at all. That's a small distance for this mop to cover.
Thank you-Great review!
Glad it was helpful! You're welcome.
Compared to my old 2014 Neato Signature, the Irobot Braava Jet m6 has a very bad navigation sensors bumping too much inside ther house and frequentlly getting lost.

Modern Castle i read on articles online saying that vslam technology can be better in the feature with more features then lidar robots is it true?

One question.

Does this collect dirty water into the tank or does the dirt just collect on the pad?
Just on the pad.
The tank is clean water only and there is only the 1 tank.
Hi can it be used on laminate? would it damage the floor if we use wet pad?
Yes, it can be used on laminate.
In general, laminate is water resistant. But you should double check with your floor's manufacturer if you're concerned.
what about the cost of buying additional cleaning liquid and cleaning pads??
Cleaning pad is washable. So you really shouldn't need to replace.

@modern castle nice review .
I have few doubts if you could please clarify

Is there a cleaning solution in the wet pads? If not, what can be used to clean the floors. I'm not a fan of scents as a cleaning solution.
No, there is not. The cleaning solution goes in the m6 tank on the robot itself.
Does the water tank accept cleaning product or just water?
It accepts water as well as iRobot's cleaning solution, which you can find here - amzn.to/358AAsI
You can use other cleaning products as well, but it may void your warranty and may damage the robot.
good video..
Can it be used on laminated floors?
Yes
You can see a side by side comparison here - moderncastle.com/braava-m6-review/#compare
As far as areas where the m6 isn't as good...quite frankly, there just aren't that many.
Do you think smart features work in the eu ?
Unfortunately, I do not know.
Yes. If you buy it in the EU (rather than an import from abroad) then any features advertised will work just fine. If you buy an import, you'd probably still be fine but there's always a risk certain features won't work.
No negative feature???
For $500 I don't think there are many noteworthy cons on the m6.
If I had to pick something, some users have reported marks left by the tires on dark floors. However, it wasn't something I experienced during our tests, so I didn't include it.
Beyond that, I really don't think there's much negative to say about. It's arguably the best robot mop on the market.
My irobot braava jet stopped working. I was using without a wifi, now when press clean white light appears, not moving. What could be the reason?

Is there a real fix for houses with room divisions, saddles, thresholds, or whatever you call them? I’ve added thresholds to the map, covered sensors, things I’ve seen on the internet, but nothing works. Do all you guys have either flat or no transition zones between rooms? It can’t even map the house, because it can’t move from room to room. What is the fix for getting this unit from room to room without picking it up each time?
There isn't a good solution for large dividers / divisions between room.
I just happen to have no divisions / dividers in my home.
@@sikz26300 My pleasure. Happy to help.
Hi, can you make a video about dry stains performance?
If / when we do an updated M6 review we'll add a dried on test.
But requires a babysitter.
will the s9 and mop fall into a one inch deep sliding glass door channel track and get stuck?
It's very possible. 1" is a pretty big gap.
I don't know of any robot that I would feel confident could clear that gap.
Is the robot ‘tied’ to one floor of the house? If I were to carry it upstairs, would it be able to tell the difference?
It can learn different floor levels. So yes, you can move it upstairs and it will learn that it's different.
Have you heard about any new and improved mopping or vacuum robots coming out in the near future? I'm ready to buy this and the Roomba S9. Thanks.
I haven't.
The best standalone mop is still the Braava m6.
Best vacuum mop combo robot is the Roborock S6 MaxV
Modern Castle I appreciate your quick response. I haven’t heard about that combo. Any chance you reviewed that? Our main floor is all hardwood and about 3500 square feet. Plus 1000 upstairs. 3500 in basement. No carpet anywhere.
Thanks for the review, I purchased the Brava Jet M6 and the iRobot 9s+.
Do you offer any consultation to setup the devices
You're welcome! Glad it could help.
Unfortunately, we do not. But if you have any basic questions we can help with feel free to ask them.
Hello !Does the braava use soap? Thanks
No, you cannot use soap in any Braava.
They do offer their cleaning solution though amzn.to/34bOXw5
Do you need to vacuum the floors first for this to clean properly?
Only if they were extraordinarily dirty. Otherwise, the m6 can handle it.
@@ModernCastle Thanks.
Will this mop go over 1/2 inch beveled edges? Wondering if it is going to be able to go from living room to kitchen since the surface levels are slightly different.
I don't think it can break 1/2" in most homes.
1/4" is about the most it's going to be able to do.
Modern Castle thank you! I already bought it... so I guess I’ll figure something out
How does this effectively clean grease if you can't add in cleaning solution?
It doesn't.
The m6 is not designed to clean grease. I expect it would do okay, but not great. You should get a more traditional mop if you have floors covered with any significant volume of grease.
Will it mop quarry tiles
I don't see any reason why it wouldn't.
However, we did not specifically test it against quarry tiles.
How wide is the spray? Will the edges of area rugs on hardwood get wet/soiled by the spray? Thank you. I found this review very helpful.
Can you get it in black like the S9?
Unfortunately, no. It's only available in white.
it is now lol
So after watching your review, I decided to buy this robot mop. I have had it for a few months now and everything is good. But I have noticed recently in the last week or so that my Braava is making a weird bird-like chirping noise after every spray. I don't remember hearing this sound before. Is this normal?
Hrm...that is a bit odd. That's not something we've experienced. But perhaps reach out to iRobot to see if they know what's going on?
@@ModernCastle so I think I know what's going on. Whenever I use deep cleaning mode, it makes this noise. But if I use the standard or extended coverage it does not make this noise. Do you happen to use deep or the other modes?
@@thiluong6678 Generally not. I have mostly hardwoods, so I leave it on the most gentle setting. We used deep cleaning during our initial tests when we tried it on tile, but I haven't used it since then.
can I control how much water it spray out?
Yes, there are different levels you can set in the app.
Can I controll the braava m6 and i7 from anywhere in the country? Thanks!
Anywhere with an internet connection.
My iRobot is not spraying water 💦 any suggestion
1. Double check the app and make sure your water spray is turned on
2. Make sure you're using a mopping pad and not the dry dusting pad
3. Make sure the nozzle isn't clogged (hard water could clog it over time)
How many square meters can you do with a full tank of water with medium cleaning ?
I don't believe iRobot gives a firm number, but I would estimate around 250-300 sq. meters before it needs to recharge.
@@ModernCastle it can do 250 square meters with a single tank of water ?
@@Suffe15 Ah sorry, I misunderstood. It can do 250'ish on a single battery charge.
As far as water goes, I would estimate at least 200 and likely closer to 250. It routinely does our entire studio on a single tank / single charge with water to spare, which is about 200 sq. meters.
@@ModernCastle - that's a good amount of water for cleaning! And you're definitely talking sq.meters and not sq. feet?? Thanks & your videos are great!
Can you answer the specific questio? How many m2 can the robot do on one fill of the water tank.
If he wipes a greasy floor with the cloth, does that grease on the cloth spread to other rooms when he wipes it?
I would say it really depends on the level of grease. Small to medium amounts it should have less of an issue with and be able to soak them into the cleaning pad / clothe. However, if it's a larger amount it's more likely to not be able to fully soak it up, therefore spreading it.
What do I do if my robot leaves the wheel marks on my tile , I may be returning it just for that reason
I'd start by trying to clean the wheels with a microfiber cloth and a bit of soap / water. If it continues to leave tire marks then you should return.
I believe you can adjust the amount of spray on the app, another reviewer mentioned a similar issue and said having it spray less helped with the streaks.
@@sikz26300 I've also heard that keeping the mopping pad clean will minimize streak marks and wheel marks.

What about the mapping? Does work with a 2cond floor? Or just maps one?
It can map multiple floors. Thus far, we've been impressed with the navigation. We have a sort of a big L-shaped downstairs and it does a nice job of working its way through the whole thing.
Hello, thanks for the review! I have 2 questions:
What about the dry cleaning? It looks like it can only keep hairs and dust, I have concerns about it.
What about it specifically?
That is largely the purpose of any dry dusting mop. To dust, remove hair, and remove other fine dry particulates.
I'm not sure how that would impact the M6's operation
(Home Base)
That difference in the floors the Braava lowers it but does not raise it, (different with the Roomba that climbs obstacles carpets with ease). " * I would be interested in your opinion *
Excelente info and video, and I really appreciate your answer, they help me a lot.
Can you add floor cleaner to this?
I believe iRobot only recommends water.
Modern Castle what would happen if I put my own cleaning solution In? Would it break the bot? How would it know????
@@CRAFT2847WITCH It's unclear. It may be perfectly fine, especially if it's a mild cleaning solution.
I would definitely avoid anything overly harsh or strong chemicals.
I have a Bissell Cleaner & because I did not run clean water when I was done the mopping part; the soap I used dried & clogged it a bit, so then it didn't work properly. Once you're done washing - just run clear/clean water thru it and that should get rid of any soap residue. IMO
@@ModernCastle - doesn't it come with a Mopping Cleaning Liquid? Is that a cleaner you would add to the water?
Can it create virtual walls though the app like xiaomis roborock?
Yes
For the mop, get the Braava Jet 240 - amzn.to/2UpGP6s
It's a perfect match for the 696 in terms of performance and budget. Especially since your apartment isn't huge the 240 will more than meet your needs.

@@ModernCastle Thanks a lot for the advice, really appreciated! 👏
@@CurtisCT You're welcome!
Hi does it sweep as well?
It does not
What happens if it runs out of water
It stops and gives you an error warning.
If the tank is full before you start a run it has plenty of water to finish the run before needing to be filled again.
@@ModernCastleIs it easy to refill if you need to refill it in the middle of a run
Can i take it to my mothers house and just press clean without the base or app?
Just for demonstration
Yes, you can.
Roborock S6 MaxV - amzn.to/3iLTU3V
Roborock S5 Max - amzn.to/357YX7z?tag=moderncastle-20
Both of the above models both vacuum and mop at the same time.
1:55 dude like why is your house shaped like that?
Lol - Partly due to a furniture setup, partly due to me blocking off a large section of the downstairs to keep the robot cleaning around the photography area.
Nothing about how big an area it can clean? Nothing about cleaning uneven tile surfaces?
Coverage ranges, but in general it should be able to cover up to 2,000 square feet.
With respect to tile, again, it ranges based on uneven those tile surfaces are. I've used my m6 on a pretty standard modern kitchen tile without any issues on the grout line.
Does it have a thing like the s9 where it has multi floor mapping?
Yes, same mapping as the S9.
Thanks
