What is iRobot Braava jet m6?
The m6 is a fully rechargeable, automated, smartphone-connected mop and base station. You can choose disposable cleaning pads, or, and this is a new feature many folks have been asking for, iRobot also makes washable, reusable pads too. The Braava jet m6 mop will also handle dry sweeping, kind of like using a swiffer. Depending which pads you attach, the robot automatically knows what to do.
The previous Braava jet 240 was a great basic mop, and I was using it all the time until the m6 arrived, but it has a smaller battery so it was best for smaller spaces. The Braava jet 240 also cleaned in a rather haphazard pattern, whereas the new one has mapping capabilities so it can more effectively and efficiently clean rooms. More on that in a sec. While the Braava jet 240 had some smarts built in, the m6 has been fully upgraded.
What’s new in iRobot m6, compared to Braava jet 240?
There’s a lot of new technology inside the iRobot Braava jet m6.
Uses iAdapt 3.0 Navigation with vSLAM technology and Imprint Smart Mapping to get to know the home’s floor plan, giving you total control to choose which rooms are cleaned and when.
Features Maximized-Edge design to help the robot get into corners and along edges.
Imprint Link Technology enables cleaning automation between the Roomba i, s, and 900 Series Robot Vacuums with the Braava jet m Series Robot Mop. Imprint Link Cleaning is a feature that lets your Braava jet m Series Robot Mop to begin mopping after your Robot Vacuum has completed vacuuming.
Larger water tank; can now clean 2-3 times on a single tank. Plus it’s a separate removable tank now, and you don’t need the whole robot at the sink for filling
Prepping the m6 for cleaning
To get the mop ready to clean you do have some homework. You’ll need to add cleaner to the tank and then fill with water. You’ll also need to slide a cleaning pad onto the mop, and you now have a choice if that’s a disposable pad or a washable one.
How well does iRobot Braava jet m6 clean?
When I first reviewed the Braava jet 240, I wasn’t sure how much good a little roving box could really do on my floors, but I was very surprised at how well it cleaned.
Similarly the m6 does a surprisingly great job at cleaning the floors, in my opinion. I have two dogs and they love to be outside. Those wet and mucky paws are a constant presence in our lives, so being able to get the floors mopped every day while I’m at work really helps keep the overall dirt down and the floors clean.
There’s a noticeable grime factor when I remove the wet mopping pads in particular. Yuck! The iRobot Braava jet m6 definitely gets a lot of dirt off the floors.
.
How does m6 work with s9+?
As noted, one of the biggest new features of this mop is its ability to clean in tandem with some Roomba vacuums. The iRobot Braava jet m6 can be set to come out and mop after the vacuum, like the s9+ has done it’s job sweeping up first.
To get your bots working in tandem it’s back to the app. Hit the Clean button, and you’ll have the choice of scheduling just the mopping action, or adding a sweep first. If you choose to sweep first, the mop will wait until the Roomba s9+ robot vacuum has cleaned up, then it will automatically launch itself after.
Overall review of iRobot Roomba m6
I’m really happy with this mopping robot. It’s certainly more versatile and powerful than the older BraavaJet 240 and it has a lot more smarts built in. I found all the features worked very well and above all the mop cleans up after me and my pets really well, and keeps the housework to a minimum.
Overall, I’m really happy with this mopping robot. It’s certainly more versatile and powerful than the older BraavaJet 240 and it has a lot more smarts built in. I found all the features worked very well particularly the tandem cleaning with the vacuum. The new removable water tank is so handy, plus the recharging station means the mop is always ready to go. Above all the mop cleans up after me and my pets really well, and keeps the housework to a minimum. There’s a lot to love about this bot. Any complaints? Surely folks will says the price is a definite downside and at about $699.99 CAD it is a tool with a hefty price tag.
I can definitely recommend the iRobot Roomba m6 mopping robot. It sells for about $699.99 CAD on www.irobot.ca and in places like Best Buy and Amazon.
I just bought the M6 & I7+. I have a Golden Retriever & Black Lab so you know it has been a constant struggle to keep up with the fur. These robots are amazing! I'm a single mom & work 1 1/2 jobs so these are worth every penny to me. I can be making $ and come home to a clean house. I hear they have a robot lawnmower. Can't wait to see a review on that
I tried one of those robot lawnmowers and it's AMAZING. ua-cam.com/video/q2bP7j7kLBI/v-deo.html
My son has the husquvarna lawnmower. It is amazing
Just picked one for my wife and I since we really like our new i7+ with the auto clean dock. The M6 is doing it’s first mapping job right now.
Excellent!
I have seen a lot of reviews, but your reviews seem to hit the nail for me every time. Thanks for your point of view. You made a subscriber out of me!
Yay ! Welcome.
I have the 240. I like the small size because it can get into places that no other mop can.
Does the M6 mop fit under furniture like a couch?
Viewing the cleaner it appears to leave quite a few streaks on the floor where the wheels have driven over the wet floor, I would say the deice ends up making the floor appear very streaky with lines as most of these wet cleaners seem to do , I would not have in my home there are better units available that don't streak the floor.
Thanks for an interesting video. As a new owner of a Braava M6 mop, I used it for the first time last night to mop my entire house - 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living, dining room and kitchen. I am really having a hard time figuring out the map it made. Is it possible to set it up to clean one room at a time with the door closed so I can locate the room it is in, and thereby, find the rest of the rooms? Since I just mopped the entire house, future moppings will just be mainly in the kitchen. Since the kitchen is in an open floor plan with the dining and living room, I would also love to know how to set keep out zones.
Use the app for that or reset it.
We have a tile bathroom, bamboo floors in the living room. You have to go over carpet to get from one to the other. How well does it travel over carpet to get from one area to another?
Braava goes around carpets as it’s a mop. Roomba is a vacuum that goes on carpets as well.
Great video! I am curious, can it detect a room with carpet (as opposed to the rug shown in the video)
so it only sprays on hard floors?
Yes it can detect throw rugs and carpet.
Do you have a video with emphasis on mapping my home on my iphone?
When the Narwal mop robot will be released in a few weeks, I will definitely try it.
OOoh. I hadn't heard of them. Just looked them up.
Very informative review, thanks. Roughly how many square feet would you say it can mop before needing to add water? Our house is 3,000sqft, just wondering if it would do the whole house on one tank. Thanks!
It'll do about 1000 sq ft in one go.
So, I'm thinking about adding this to go along with a purchase of a J7. Most my home is carpet. Will this mop still be able to map the whole house and recognize tile from carpet? If not, will it still be able to traverse over carpet to get to the designated areas I select to clean? I'm hoping this combo will work well. I did have an evovacs 8 plus pro and did a good job of mapping my house, but was plagued with wheel issues and the battery life was terrible so returned it. So, with the current deals, I'm trying out a few different models to see what works for me. I also have a Roborock S7 on order. This whole robot thing is new for me as I've been waiting for technology to advance enough to make the investment worth it. Thank you for your time...
wow.. very well done, Erin! You must have had some TV news experience?
I paid $200 US for mine. It's arriving Tuesday. Unfortunately I don't think it will work in tandem with my I3 evo.
Update: Unfortunately I have a home that is mostly carpeted. It is unable to do the job unless I take it into the rooms that have linoleum and have it mop whilst I fight it to try keeping it from escaping. I'm sending it to my son who has beautiful hardwood floors.
i own the s9+ and finally got it replaced because of the error 31 of hell: @ its finally works great again and i was tempted to get the m6 but i think i'll wait for gen 2 of the m6
Good idea!
Sounds like an influencer review. I’m not trying to be rude but I really get upset of these reviews because they send you the equipment for no charge in place of you doing a positive review. I’m not saying it’s a bad product. But I like more honesty and unbiased reviews out there
I really liked your video. I'm so glad you showed what it can do with pets in the house. Paw prints are my battle too!
I don’t understand the need for them to work in tandom. I have a Roomba 966 and I am thinking of getting this mop. Because the two don’t naturally work together, I am planning to schedule the mop to start an hour after the vacuum (my vacuum usually takes about 40mins as I only have 20sq metres to clean). This should have the same effect... or am I missing something here?
Why wouldn’t want them to work in tandem??? That just doesn’t make any sense at all
In terms of actual cleaning how does this compare to iRobot’s much older, but very reliable, Scooba 450?
I’d love to say but I’ve never even heard of Scooba until just now!
+1
I got a roomba i7 (not i9) with M6 can they be used in tandem, sweep first then mop?
Yes they can!
It's their one well I seen the s9 version in a mop style as the vacuum style. Matching...
Can I put the washable moping pads in Washing Machine after getting dirty? Is it safe? Because there is a locking card attached to it , so will not it get damage ?
Do you need to vacuum the floors first for this to clean properly?
Not really. Though it will obviously do a better job if you’ve swept up first. The mob will do dry sweeping too so you could do that first, then mop for best results.
@@ErinLawrenceTV Thanks.
I don't know. I wash my floor with a 3 gallon bucket and have to replace the water when I am half way done. Do normal people wash their floor with 1/4 gallon of water? If not, how does this thing work?
When adjusting the amount of water the BRAAVA puts down on the floor, can you choose 3/4 of the way? I tried to adjust my water amount but it will only allow midway, full or none. I’d like it to go 3/4 of the way but it won’t stay there. Should it? Thank you :-)
how many dry sweeping pads are there in a pack? are there any reusable ones?
I can't remember how many in a pack but yes there are reusable ones!
it's a shame the bigger one has not vibrating pad like the small one
Thanks for the review, was this sponsored by Irobot, or did they give you the product in exchange for a review?
I'm concerned that she hasn't replied to this question while replying to newer questions.
@@Austin-gb1cq Hi All, guess it's hard to reply to *every* comment, though I have answered this one already.
My sponsored videos are all labelled clearly as such, so no this isn't sponsored. I have no agreement with iRobot for a review of any kind in exchange for product.
My new M6 will not connect to the app via my Wi-Fi. This means I can’t register the M6 and therefore can’t control it. Any help is appreciated because I can’t seem to find a UA-cam video that addresses this problem.
I’d call iRobot customer service.
@@ErinLawrenceTV thank you and that’s what I did and they got me connected and online and the M6 mop is working fantastic. I don’t think my floors have ever been this clean!
How does it handle room dividers? Can it climb over stuff?
I didn’t have a lot of transitions so in my home it was fine. But excellent question
@@ErinLawrenceTV Thank you for the response. If you ever get around to testing it, I'd love to see it. I can't find anything on UA-cam about it, which is odd.
does the jet m6can use the irobot rumba map?
Does the light off mean its charged ?
In a house with no carpets will the combination of sweep mode and mop mode forgo the need for a vacuum?
I do already have a Dyson stick vacuum so I can vacuum occasionally if needed but I’m thinking that this M6 would do the trick without a robot vacuum. I was thinking of getting an i7 vacuum for daily cleaning but having watched a few reviews of the M6 I think this might be a better solution for me. The cleaning I need is for dog hair from a short-haired dog, muddy paw prints and dust bunnies.
I find robot vacs are not a complete replacement for a proper vacuum but go a long way to keeping mess down. If you have a Dyson stick, that plus a bot should have you covered.
I cannot find a way to switch off the intermittent musical sounds that repeat continuously from time to time on my iRobot Braava jet m6 Any suggestions?
Sounds like it might be connecting and disconnecting from your Wi-Fi network… Or that there is an error message waiting to be reviewed. Have you checked that?
Erin, great job on your review of the M6. Have you by any chance reviewed the Ecovacs DEEBOT 920 OZMO or have any insight on this compared to the M6. Would be great to be able to see a comparison, thanks!
I did get some time with the T8. Take a look~ ua-cam.com/video/oM3mNsMD458/v-deo.html
We want to buy where we will buy in Hyderabad, India
@@ErinLawrenceTV thanks for your response, I took a look, if I can ask one more question, if my focus from a functionality is mainly the mop would you recommend the Deboot or the M6.
@@kanakadurgaduvvuri9221 irobot.in/Braava-m6.aspx
Can I use any liquid cleaner ?
Looks like it's releasing a lot of liquid. Isn't that not good for your hardwood floors?
It might look like that in the video I guess, but the truth is it hardly uses any liquid at all. I’ve had no issues with my hardwood floors.
Hi Erin, just a question, do u have to use only the brand mops or is it possible to use for example also mop like swiffer? And how can it be fitted? Thanks in advance for answering.
Hi Claudia, You can't use Swiffers on these, but it is possible to find non-roomba pads, and even washable pads on amazon: amzn.to/3HdgrCq
@@ErinLawrenceTV thanks for caridying me this point as I was not sure it could be a possibility.
I just open mine up today and i am having trouble running it .it keeps saying uneven ground.what should i do?
homesupport.irobot.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/21032/~/roomba-s-series-says%3A-uneven-ground.-place-on-a-flat-surface%2C-then-press-clean
Got an I7 with auto empty inbound. super stoked. M6 is my next.
Great review! Thanks! What do you know about the required cleaning solution? Is it true you can use Bona? Thanks!
Any floor cleaner works fine.
Erin Lawrence thanks
Do you know what to do so that it doesn’t leave tire marks?
I've heard a couple folks mention tire marks. I don't see them at all in my home. Maybe depends on the type of flooring?
Erin Lawrence I have tile
Thank for the great review. Was really hoping they added a lift capability. My old one was great but always got stuck under my couch
If the mop won't go on carpet, how can it make its way to my bathroom which is surrounded by carpet. 😊
This was incredibly informative, thank you!
I’m so glad 😀
My two dogs makes it impossible to mop my floors, they scream at the patio door if I’m trying to mop and if I’m inside mopping they walk to see what I’m doing, yeap they are two spoil rotten dirty dogs that wants to be beside me 24/7 , so this I’m getting, you gave a excellent review with the dogs 🐕
Thank you!
I'm really curious how it reacts to area rugs and carpeted areas. Wonderful review, as always my friend :)
Thanks Ken!
it moves around them, but if you have thresholds in doorways it also wont enter that room...
How do you adjust the water spray on the Braava Mop
It's in the app...
Sadly you miss out the very real and important problems with this product, the most important being it cannot pass over anything above 3mm so if you have room deviders in your doors this product is worthless at will never leave the room, second though not as important if purchased with the s9+ they dont share maps so has to map the house from scratch.
Can it climb over small obstacles?
Depends what you mean by small. But yes.
@@ErinLawrenceTV Found out from their website. It can climb 3mm or less.
Will it dry sweep with the washable reusable pads? Thanks for the review!!
This was great fun to watch, made me laugh out loud seeing where tech has taken us from the days of my childhood. So, General Erin Lawrence, robot army commander, are you ready to turn your army loose and conquer Alberta???
Yes! One dirty floor at a time! LOL
Great review 😃 keep em coming
Thank you!
Does it fit under the toe kick under kitchen cabinets?
It does on ours...
How do you get rid of tire tracks and water spots?
You can ajust the setting in the application 4:30
Thank you for the informative review. I am a bit concerned about the future implications of my "robot army", however. :)
🤖
I welcome my Robot Overlords, as long as they vacuum and mop.
I was told by iRobot that the owner cannot replace tires, have to send to iRobot at owners expense.
Thanks for your review. I'll pass on this iRobot.
Whether under the bed, or behind the curtains... or in the back yard trying to mop the grass. LOL
love your doggos!
Aww thanks! :D
Great review. For the benefit of others, as an owner I can’t recommend this model. Mine died after just 4 uses. Completely dead no sign of life at all.
Oh dear. What did iRobot say?
What happen to it?
Very unhappy with my M6. Will not get over the small transition strips
on my floor between rooms. Have to carry it from room to room. Many
complaints about this but iRobot denies the problem. Would not recommend
this bot.
Same problem for me. The m6 does not passtrough more than 3mm elevation
Interesting. Maybe that's a feature to keep it off rugs...?
@@ErinLawrenceTV Yes. But people buy this bot for floors, not rugs. You should be able to turn this off, then add no-go zones for rugs.
I got one just smears the dirt over floor.
Her house layout really confuses me. It looks more like Great Britain than a house.
LOL. But Maybe her house is shaped like Great Britain?
This review can only be sponsored by iRobot. I bought the Braava M6 last month and had to return it after 15 days. The robot is leaving marks and wheels marks all over my hardwood floor rendering it real ugly. This robot is a complete waste of money. In the other hand, the Roomba S9+ is a must.
My sponsored videos are all labelled clearly as such, so no this isn't sponsored. My experience has been very different from yours, and I'm still having great results. What kind of cleanser were you using?
@@ErinLawrenceTV Mine does the same using the cleaner that came with it.
great buy
Yes it is!
Pro Tip: Wipe your dogs paws when they come in so your floor doesn't look like a war zone.
You play with the robot for two or three hours, you take out the regular mop, feel less cyber and do the job yourself
Only downfall for me, can not go over the thresholds in my house.
These devices don’t even look like they were made by the same company, let alone that they work in tandem.
They are very different aren’t they?
Erin Loris
????🤦♂️
what in the hell is the hamburger menu
Good question. The expanding menu bar that usually lives in one of the top corners, comprised of three horizontal lines, like a hamburger.
Eris Loris
This is way overpriced 🤣
Leaving tiremarks all over.Bad construction!
I’ve had a couple folks say that. So weird. I don’t see it at my house.
@@ErinLawrenceTV I'm guessing it has to do with the color and/or style of the flooring. For those that are seeing this, I wonder if distilled water would help?
