Thanks for your review; going to see them next Friday night. Big fan of Elvis Costello; have not seen him in years. Also fan of Daryl Hall as part of Hall & Oates & his solo work. Enjoy the show you’re going to tonite.
Sounds like a great show, love those early tracks, Elvis Costello really made an impression on me in his early career. Saw him at an early gig at the Nashville Rooms in London, unforgettable. Always remembered hearing his experience seeing Grateful Dead in 1972, gave him inspiration to become a musician. I brought Hall & Oats Big Bam Boom album in the 80’s, good album!
Enjoyed the review of Daryl Hall - thanks for sharing! His guitarist is Shane Theriot - he's on Spotify with his own music as well. Charlie DeChant is on Sax - awesome! All the guys in the band are so talented in their own right - Klyde Jones on bass, Brian Dunne on drums, Porter Carroll, Jr percussion & vocals. Great artists, plus Daryl - the king!
Great review buddy! I know they're coming to Wolf Trap near DC soon. Daryl was a bit of a diva when I saw him a couple of years ago. I've never seen Elvis but it sounds like he still carries himself well!
I love your t shirt! 😃 Glad you had a great time! I love Elvis but of course Darryl has a great voice for sure. Yep, Pump It Up is on This Years Model... as you noticed later on. King Of America is my favorite Elvis album. Have a great time tonight!
I’ve been a Daryl Hall & John Oates fan since the early 80s. I do like the song that Daryl did in the 80s with Elvis. I think it was called “you’re not the only flame in town.” It’s too bad he & John had a falling out. I’m seeing John Oates next month here in NJ.💁🏻♀️
Hi Glen!!! well done and cool to hear you had an awesome time at the show.... I think you're right Daryll Hall has an amazing discography with a big catalogue and easily put a great setlist and have a good time. cheers and be well
Great review, I was going to see Elvis Costello in concert but there were no wheelchair spaces left.😢 At least I’m seeing the Lemon Twigs in September. My favourite Costello album is This Year’s Model but the debut isn’t far behind. My favourite Costello song is Alison.
Sounds like a fantastic show. All those hits you rattled off were impressive by both artists. I'm truly surprised that Elvis Costello was the opening act. What's So Funny About Peace, Love & Understanding as a closer is perfect. My Aim is True is my favorite album of his. She's Gone by Hall & Oates is a phenomenal song that still sounds amazing. Nice review Glen. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks again for the plug for our alphabet series.
Sounds like a great concert. I need to see Elvis again. Steve Nieve is fantastic and I like the set they did together. I like Daryl Hall but I would consider Elvis the headliner.
Thanks for the review, pal. I saw online that ticket sales were really poor but I get it, way too big a venue for these guys. Cheers for mentioning Fripp's album that Hall sang on!
I saw Elvis Costello as part of a Stiff tour in around 1978/9. In those times everybody was choppy - Costello, Graham Parker & the Rumour, Joe Jackson, Ian Dury. In Britain he is regarded as something of an institution, up there with Rick Wakeman and Paul McCartney. One of my favorite songs of his is 'Shipbuilding,' which may not mean too much to a North American audience, but it's a Rust Belt song of the Bruce Springsteen kind. I don't know much about Darryl Hall except I have seen a few of his house shows and it's a fun format. Robert Fripp was there in one of them. Beyond that, he seems somewhat poppy, sort of Loggins & Messina-adjacent. The Bridge stuff. Plus he is going through a very messy divorce from John Oates. I suppose that may make him interesting. And he appeared on Bill Maher's 'Club Random,' muttering darkly about John Oates. But now onto serious stuff. Your alphabet game is a blast. I checked three times this morning to see if F had arrived yet. And I already have a full set of Gs, but I suppose I have to wait until Monday. It is going to be a long weekend, which I'll spend trying to collect back taxes on behalf of Britain's new government. Those damn Americans are way overdue on paying that Stamp Duty - 250 years overdue. It's an outrage!
Daryl Hall is easily one of the most underrated pop vocalists of the late 70s-mid 80s. Phenomenal singer. Luckily, I have seen both Hall & Oates and Elvis Costello live before. Spike is a great album all the way through.
What a great live review! And I LOVE Daryl’s Sacred Songs! It was part of a trilogy, along with Fripp’s Exposure and Peter Gabriel 2 (all produced by Fripp). Nice to meet you, have fun tonight!
Sounds like you had a fun time Glen. Maybe they take turns as the opening act on this tour. They were in Seattle in June. I considered going, but ultimately didn't. I think Elvis's early work with the Attraction sounded so great because of Steve Nieve's keyboard and especially Bruce Thomas's bass playing. I am not a country fan, but I love his "Almost Blue" album. All of his albums from "My Aim is True" to "Punch the Clock" are great.
I looked up what Elvis Costello played. Nice setlist, but nothing from "Imperial Bedroom". He could have done "The Only Flame In Town" with Daryl Hall. ha! Daryl Hall's set could have had more songs, I guess Elvis Costello's, too. Still, a nice double bill.

Alison is a great song..
So pleased to hear EC's vocals are back up to scratch, seeing him a few times this September.

Thanks Robert…the tickets were so affordable too…Any time I can mention Fripp…👍👍❤

Would have been great to see EC back then..

Yeah, sounds like an awesome show! I haven't been to a big show like that in a while. I'm due. The next big artist that comes near here, I got to go!
Go Morris,,as long as prices are reasonable.

You missed a good show..EC’s early work is classic..
Sounds like a great gig. Outdoor summer shows are usually amazing.
It was a great evening..

A few of the songs were stretched out quite a bit to let the band members shine..
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement I'm probably just "spoiled" from watching my 3 and a half hour "The Eras Tour" Blu-Ray over and over again. 😊😄
