6:50 Some fun lore for Proto Ultima! Back in ye olden days of before patch 3.55a, the mini boss here was the Shadowcourt Handmaiden. According to popular lore (that is still around today), there was a weekly rewards quest titled "Unidentified Flying Object” available from the gobbies of Idyllshire that required loot dropped from completing this raid, and if a player had that quest active, the Shadowcourt Handmaiden would be replaced by Proto Ultima. However, this isn’t true: in the 3.55a patch notes SE simply states Proto Ultima was added to the raid, and no one’s seen the Shadowcourt Handmaiden since. Prior to this patch, Proto Ultima had only been available at the 2016-2017 FanFest. The weapon she used to drop, the Blood Sword, was added to the Gold Saucer prize list when the Saucer was released (and goes for 10,000 MGP iirc), and you can still farm Proto Ultima’s quest for glam if you want. The Shadowcourt Handmaiden herself was a fairly unremarkable succubus trash fight, with fairly standard mechanics (if you’ve done Haukke Manor Hard, you’ve got the gist of the mechanics (she just had slimes as her adds)). 8:23 Scathach’s design is my absolute favourite. I’ve loved harlequin aesthetics since I was a wee lass and I wish this game had more glam options for that (no, I don’t want to look like a jester or a clown, which are all the current options. Sadge) 13:13 it hurts so, so much lol 13:18 to this day that’s still argued as either damage based, or a timer. My opinion has always been that if I can build my Blood Gauge, it’s probably damage based 13:21 full honesty: I hate tank swapping in alliance raids. You can’t shirk across alliances, and ‘voke isn’t enough to keep me from rippping aggro back. DRK (and even WAR) invuln isn’t great for stuff like this, so the whole thing becomes a heal check anyway 🤷🏽♀️ Great video as always, Scrub!
I queued up for Duty Roulette for the first time in a long while playing as astrologian for the first time in a long while… after trying to experiment with my ps5 hotbars…. Let me tell you I was HUMBLED 😭 and I felt so bad for my party bc I didn’t remember a single Dun Scaith mechanic 🤦🏾♀️ just the music. I NEED this video
I get really excited whenever I get fun scaith on alliance raid roulettes. Watching people get yeeted off the platform or dying to succ is pretty funny 😏 Looking forward to your Stormblood alliance raids! They may not have the glorious Ozma, but the fight mechanics were so much more interesting/intense than the HW ones
15 min Scrub guide, what an awesome day! It's a great guide as always. :D Though I'm not sure when it'll come in handy for me since I don't like Alliance Raids and try to avoid them as much as possible >.>
I have learned new pronunciations today! (Also, you can attack during Scathach's shadow floor, it's just moving is a no-no. Which makes this mechanic the exact opposite of Ramuh tethers, funnily enough.)
Thank you for pronouncing it properly! OMG I feel like a nerd for saying Dun Scaith in vc and people going "whaaaa" 😅 By the way having a boss with an attack called Lucky Pierrot is a double entendre I did not expect
Thanks for this guide. I'm a bit confused about the one mechanic with Scathach where the floor flashes and it says that shadows gather on the floor. I think I get that you're not supposed to move, but are you also really not supposed to attack? I had read a guide somewhere where it says attacks should be ok as long as it doesn't shift your position. I never bothered to test it myself though, I've always stopped attacking just to be extra safe lol.
You are correct that for that particular mechanic you aren't supposed to move and attacks are okay. You are like me though. I stop attacking as well, just in case I accidentally move. It's better to be safe than sorry!
I've never paid attention where Scathach's wings are for the Shadespin, I just make sure I'm either behind her(marked by enemy circle having a gap) or in front (where enemy circle has an arrow). Guess it's easier if you're using melee dps, because you're already chasing for those positionals(depending on the job) for your rotation
There isn't any way to actively run a 24-man raid with any sort of AI. You can either make a party finder for one and see if people wanna join that way, or just queue up for it. it might take a while to pop if you're not on a populated DC but there's no harm in trying!
Thank you and I am aware. This makes it easier for me so that not only can I keep my UI how I like it, it also almost guarantees anonymity for the random people that I party up with in the duty finder. It's just easier for me this way. Even if I had the settings set to "Initials only", I'd still censor the Initials. (Edit: spelling)
Bloody hell they've stepped up the mechanics in raids a notch since World of Darkness.
Thanks for the guide!
Very glad to be a part of this! Fun fight and went surprisingly well

Always good to make sure regardless. Lol. Can't get hindered if you don't do anything to begin with!

Playback speed to .75x 😂. That is a LOT of info.
Scaith 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵!
Hey Scrub.... I'd like to practice this. Is there a way to use AI to run it?

This is why I don't want Savage 24-man raids.
do i have news for you
There's an in-game name censor
