Put a couple of tiny holes into the bottom of your bottles., it allows air flow and will help it not to start having condensation issues, which causes the dead bugs to begin to stink.
Thanks for posting a solid, not trying to sell me anything review, of how you dealt with these little pests. Actually showing results makes you the Man to follow. Thanks again for sharing.
Initially how long does it take for them to start going in the trap. I've only had mine up for a couple hours and no luck yet. Another question, can the trap be hanging or should it be motionless? Solid mounted.
I like motionless because it duplicates a rigid board in a barn or garage with exposed lumber. It can take days for one to go in, but once a bee enters...others tend to follow much quicker. There is an attractant available but I haven't tried one yet. Thank you for watching!
I was just about to say I have watched about 20 Different videos I was so excited to make these traps..So I make them and not one be will go in it I am so bummed I used a 4x4 and plastic bottle maybe I didn't make holes big enough 1/2 inch
JDub, yes the hole size is 1/2 inch at about a 45 degree angle upward. Also, always put on the corner of a structure, not the extreme corner but in from it about 3 to 6 feet. These bees are particular. Sometimes it takes a few weeks to get one then the others will come quicker. Of my 6 traps up a month, 3 have zero bees and 3 have over a dozen. All 3 with bees inside are corner located. Hang in there! Thank you for watching!
Hi great video! Thanks for sharing. I can see that they did work to trap some bees, but would you say that what you caught was just a drop in a bucket, or did you feel that the traps caught enough where they actually prevented the bees from continuing to damage your house? Thanks!
In my case, these traps prevented any further damage. You may have a single bee or two come in after you get caught up with them, and they may take 2 or even 3 days to crawl in the trap. Thanks for watching!
Yes they are very destructive creatures. Traps work great! I seal all the holes I find with wood putty then hang the traps. They will use old holes if you leave them.

I will do that ASAP!
Thanks for the info!

That's cool. I have a big problem with them here. I'm going to make me some of them. Thanks Pm! Have a good week! See ya!
Hi John, there are some really good videos here on UA-cam for making these. It's like most things too, location is king!
Thanks and work safe!

the damage you show is due to woodpeckers trying to get to carpenter bee larvae. Capenter bees leave very nice perfect holes. good video.
Thanks for the info!
thank you! Going to build a few as well.
