To anyone who gives two hoots and a flying whistle... I was bored one afternoon and decided to spell out the acronyms in this fun ditty in the order that they appear; PPL - Private Pilots License CPL - Commercial Pilots License MEL - Minimum Equipment List ATP - Airline Transport Pilot CFI - Certified Flight Instructor MEI - Multi Engine Instructor AGI - Advanced Ground Instructor ATIS - Air Terminal Information Service AWOS - Automated Weather Observation Systems ASOS - Automated Surface Observing System AOPA - Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association EAA - Experimental Aircraft Association FAA - Federal Aviation Administration NBAA - National Business Aviation Association METARS - Meteorological Aerodrome Reports TAF - Terminal Aerodrome Forecast NOTAMS - NOTices to AirMan (Local and Distant) AIRMETS - AIRman’s METeorological Information HIWAS - Hazardous Inflight Weather Advisory Service ATC - Air Traffic Control RVSM - Reduced Vertical Separation Minima TCAS - Traffic Collision Avoidance System TA and RA - Traffic Advisory and Resolution Advisory VOR - VHF Omnidirectional Range STAR - Standard Terminal Arrival Route CDFA - Continuous Descent Final Approach RNAV - Area NAVigation (formerly Random NAVigation) LNAV - Lateral NAVigation VNAV - Vertical NAVigation LPV - Localizer Performance with Vertical guidance ILS - Instrument Landing System BC - Back Course MEL - Minimum Equipment List CDL - Configuration Deviation List NEF - Nonessential Equipment and Furnishings CVR - Cockpit Voice Recorded FDR - Flight Data Recorder FOQA - Flight Operations Quality Assurance GPS - Global Positioning System LORAN - LOng RAnge Navigation NDB - Non Directional Beacon FSDO - Flight Standards District Offices EFIS - Electronic Flight Instrument System EICAS - Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting System AHRS - Attitude and Heading Reference System AFM - Aircraft Flight Manual GOM - Ground Operations Manager SOP - Standard Operating Procedures PDC - PreDeparture Clearance EDCT - Expect Departure Clearance Time ALSF - Approach Lighting System with Sequenced Flashing Lights MALSR - Medium Approach Light System with Runway alignment indicator lights CAT I - CATegory One approach. Can descend as low as 200 feet. Requires minimum of 1800’ RVR or 1/2 mile visibility. CAT II - CATegory Two approach. Can descend as low as 100 feet. Requires minimum of 1200’ RVR (1000’ if equipment meets requirement for that visibility) CAT III - CATegory Three approach. Can descend all the way to touchdown (auto land) in visibility as low as 600’ or 300’ RVR (depending on aircraft equipment... as per AA ops specs) RVR - Runway Visibility Range reported in feet or meters IAS - Indicated AirSpeed MMo - Maximum Mach Operating speed VSo - Velocity Stall o. Stall Speed with Landing Configuration, that is flaps out and landing gear down. Vref - Velocity REFerence speed. The speed that we fly on approach, approaching the runway (usually with 5 to 20 kts. added) FAR - Federal Aviation Regulations AIM - Airmans Information Manual IFR - Instrument Flight Rules VMC - Visual Meteorological Conditions CONUS - CONtinental United States ADIZ - Air Defense Identification Zone TSA - Transportation Security Administration GPWS - Ground Proximity Warning System PAPI - Precision Approach Path Indicator VASI - Visual Approach Slope Indicator SATCOM - SATellite COMmunication RNP - Required Navigation Performance HEY! - A quick shout out ASAP - No this isn’t As Soon As Possible. This is Aviation Safety Action Program. When an error is committed (such as misunderstanding an ATC clearance) complete an ASAP report. If there is no gross negligence, or deliberate violation of the FAR’s, or criminal intent, pilots are guaranteed immunity from being violated. The idea is to catch “trends” (such as an increase in misunderstanding altitude assignments, or runway incursions) and take corrective action in training.
Thanks for making the list! Here is one correction: CFI = Certificated Flight Instructor And here are the ones that are missing from your list: "double I" = CFII - Certificated Flight Instructor with Instrument-airplane rating SIGMETS = SIGnificant METeorological information ADC = Air Data Computer NATCA = National Air Traffic Controllers Association NEXRAD = NEXt-generation RADar
This is great! I’m not a pilot, but I’ve read and watched so much about aviation that I knew a little over half of them! I start PPL training this weekend!
Very funny. I hadn't realized there were as many acronyms as in the military. Our son is taking his CFIA check ride this week and his CFII in the near future.
I love this. It's wonderful. Also--is this the only (or one of the only) times that Roger and Louie are puppeted in the same shot? Your typical breakdown is individual characters in their own camera angle. That's impressive in and of itself. Amazing work! If you're going to be at Airventure this year, Roger, I'd love to stop by and say hey to you and Bozo. I hope to be there maybe Sunday through Wednesday or so.

Tyler Carroll, I think both. Thanks for pointing it out!
I swear to god!...your channel is so criminally under subscribed! XD

Far better than ...most of them out there who call themselves rappers
Animaniacs!
Hellllloooooooo Purser!
@@CaptainRogerVictor HAHAHA. I wonder if you could do the countries song but as aircraft types.
To the 8 low-lives who "Disliked" this vid, you have lived a boring and unentertained life under a rock
Most of those are initialisms
I'm gonna let that "nerdism" slide because your profile pic is The Doctor... ;)
Or ........GTFO ASAP. 😂

That's funny although most of those are initialisms not acronyms.
