I must be dim. I don't use the Exposure comp wheel because it doesn't inform me if It's adjusting aperture, time, or ISO. I have all my Fuji dials for that..Plus my eye and my experience.

The EV dial only changes the cameras internal meter

@@JustinPhillipWhat? The "EV" meter is an exposure compensation dial. It doesn't change metering at all. It adjusts whatever properties it has available to compensate for metering. If aperture and shutter are manual but ISO is auto, it will function as an ISO dial, for example.
This video is going to massively confuse people. You say "even in manual mode!" while showing an exposure compensation dial. On digital cameras, exposure compensation doesn't function in full manual. It can't compensate for exposure without settings available for it to edit.

This will certainly confuse the shit out of the newbies. I guess if you make a living explaining photography on UA-cam, you don't want to make it too easy to understand.

FX30 doesn’t have EV Compensation in the menu? FX3 does.

it's true, but i'm a Gaffer and a DP quite often, so it's a very useful tool that immediately paid for itself on the first job. :) But i get it

ANY good handheld meter will work as well, just make sure you can still find batteries for them, or if they are battery - free, that they are still accurate (all battery-free meters degrade over time) . Sekonics are just what's trendy ATM.

@mortimersnerd8044 Well, they're pretty much the only option. No one makes meters anymore.
