  • This Life-After-Whipple project aims to research, collect, and disseminate information that may be helpful for pancreatic cancer survivors.
In this inaugural presentation, Dr. David Kwon, MD, FACS, FSSO will focus on one of the most consequential events of any pancreatic cancer journey-the Whipple Procedure. Although it can be a lifesaver and greatly extend a patient’s life expectancy, important organs, and tissues are often removed-organs and tissues that perform important functions prior to surgery. As a pancreatic cancer surgeon, Dr. Kwon will delve into this arena and address the Whipple procedure, its different variations, how they affect life after Whipple, and how this procedure will evolve in the future. Future episodes will focus on the Whipple's impact on digestion and nutrition, blood glucose management, the immune system, and energy management.
