It's now 2024, and this is my favourite video about how to take these cuttings.12 yrs ago, I wouldn't have thought to take a cutting of anything & in the past month I've referenced this video several times already.. I'm new to gardening & a little unsure of myself. Thank you very much for being so clear about how to do this. It really helps, it really works & I really appreciate it ❤
I love your detailed explanation of the plant I've learned more from you less than 3min compared to scouring the pages of long winded books or other utubers, and I love the gentle way you handle the plants. Lovely channel wonderful explanations.
I loved how you showed how to cut this.....but I was left wanting to know what you were going to do with it! As a person who is still learning, it would have been nice to see how you can replant it. I searched on your channel and couldnt find the next step. Thank you! :)
@@tankgrlz also if you have it a rooting hormone lightly on the end helps, if the plant is too dry to take it then get it slightly damp, generally we use it in our greenhouse for our geraniums just make sure you dont cake the hormone on too much
It's a great video on how to prepare a cutting but happens now??? Does it go in water, does it need to be putting rooting powder, do we stick it in the ground as is , does in need to be put in a warm place, cold place, in light out of light, in a greenhouse, do,we water it????.??
Video was very well made. Now, I want to see and hear about the nursery behind you. How do you create potted plants on a large scale and how long it takes to be ready to sell.?
very nice I learned something new about my favorite plant. You do have a green thumb as well as a rubber thumb. I've got to get me one of those. Lalunahermosa- si! el olor de las hojas es como tu dices "exquisito". Es mi favor parte de la plant, y depues el color rojo. Que bellesa.
Do you allow the cut end to dry and form a callus, or do you pot the cutting in moist soil immediately? After it's potted, do you cover it with, say, a plastic bag to retain moisture?
No for both questions..no dry no plastic bag Just stick it in a semi wet soil and keep it in shade for few weeks and keep the soil almost dry until you get new leaves then water normally.
Just going out to take my first cutting from a geranium that that weathered two winters. I'll be surprised if I get a plant off it, but it's worth a shot.
yes you cut off the flower or the cutting will spend it's energy on the flower, never take cuttings that have a flower. I worked at a greenhouse spending months in propagation taking cuttings from mother plants
You never defined "gro wth point", but you decided there were FOUR. Then you cut one stem off and proceded to use the phrase dozens of times more. You said you had to remove the bud, but did not say why. You said it was too long, but did not say why.
Look at the title it says "How to take a cutting" FULL STOP. Its not a video on what to do next. If you want to see what happens next watch a video that says "From geranium cuttings to planting". lol :-)
This plant roots very quick mashallah and u just need to get from the end root so,u get better chance of rooting take a pot put some compost and stick Ur plant there don't let it dry it needs warm and away from direct sun light
How to take a cutting is not the same as how to root or propagate a geranium cutting folks. Seek and you shall find, try asking Google or typing how to propagate geranium in the search bar of UA-cam.
Yes the important part... remaining Just stick it in a semi wet soil and keep it in shade for few weeks and keep the soil almost dry until you get new leaves then water normally.

Very clear on how to take the cutting but I agree with the other comments, what next???? Even a link to another video would have been useful.

Quick, straight to the point, easy. Deserves to be the top result.

Destinee nope, not from this youtuber but I’ve picked stuff up here and there🙂

Great video, very clear and informative and aimed at helping the viewer. Thank you from Ploop Channel!
I just cut them off and pull off the lower leaves.
Stick them in the ground and watch them grow.
But WHEN is the best time to take cuttings?
In spring when temperature increases slightly

Then what ????
Then put it in to rooting substrate... Klasmann steckmedium and keep it wet facebook.com/rasad.hrizantema
@Kat Jasper 77
then what is right.....lol... I was left wondering.... do I put it in water or soil or in some sort of solution?
either cutting soil (peat moss, perlite, vermiculite, and/or sand) on in water
Just stick it in a semi wet soil and keep it in shade for few weeks and keep the soil almost dry until you get new leaves then water normally.
You "show" the growth points but you don;t....you just parted the leaves and counted...I needed you to point them out.
The “growth point” is a node, it is the area on the stem where buds form, where the leaves grow from
Do we just leave the cutting lying on the table after preparing it?
Just stick it in a semi wet soil and keep it in shade for few weeks and keep the soil almost dry until you get new leaves then water normally.
Hola saludos desde Guatemala
