Gesso is a great primer and you can get it in black and white. Also many crafting companies make masking sheets that you could safely cover the whole area before painting the background. You did great though, I think its fabulous.
Your videos are so positive and it makes me happy and I say this as a very bitter perfectionist. Goofy movie being the best Disney movie, oh, absolutely, what ace taste, absolutely!! This bag is just such an eye catched
Jen, you're so talented! That bag is too stinking cute. You have so many covers to paint on, and I wouldn't worry about the textures because they can be made part of the design.
I love this so much. My brush control absolutely sucks😂. So I definitely wouldn't be able to make something like this. you can make multiple styles with different outer pieces.

I have to tell you after watching your videos I got inspired. Needless to say I went down the Miche rabbit hole. I went on eBay and Poshmark, and now have 3 bags and 19 shells LOL. I had placed a low bid on eBay as well as a low Offer on another listing. Because I thought there was NO way I would win either of them I went on Poshmark and bought one. Well, short story long, yep I won both of the eBay bids LOL. Really excited about them.
When i painted my mom's pleather bag I used posca pens and then just covered with fabric modpodge. You can do this with any acrylic paint really and the design has lasted for years. Though if you really want to invest in a better quality leather paint, angelus brand is the one art youtubers used for thier sneaker customizations. I love the design and customizing bags. For future use invest in some transfer paper. You can trace design over it and it will transfer to whatever you want underneath. Also paint your sealant or use mr super clear before doing details and you won't mess up the underneath with tape and you can use a latex barrier around the edges like painting your nails and then it'll rub off without rubbing your paint. (This is a technique watercolor artists use) These bags are amazing concept and being able to switch designs without having to switch bags ir have a bunch of handbags is genuis. So much better price wise than loungeflys. Plus your deign will be one of a kind.

Oh my God thank you so much for this advice and suggestion I'll have to look into that actually both of those things and thank you so much.
@@NexJen if you get clear or white gesso, you can colour it to whatever you want with pigments or acrylic paint. 😊
If you can get it, gesso works amazing as a base coat and makes painting easier

Sounds like you need a thimble. I had induced arthritis at one point. Give your hands a couple weeks’ break and let them heal, sweetie!
