Simply starting such an important build just three weeks later would have been ideal, and saved unnecessary stress in the process. Not considerate to the contractors, which is counterproductive at this key development stage.
Plan of ground floor big house is at 4:33. Install ceiling height metal shelving in the return within the Garage. Lose the study and half the laundry and theres your full size garage for one car.
I think his wife would have killed him if they hadn't gone on holiday (which was an absurd thing to do). She was responsible for the lack of a downstairs toilet, a necessity that at first he seemed to think a good idea (which it was). I doubt they learned anything given that we're told at the end that the place sold for 10,000 pounds more than they'd initially anticipated.
Especially if there are as many children as Rebecca has. It's usually a necessity, and of course visitors much prefer a downstairs toilet, than trying to find the magic door upstairs!
That last month of hell and 20 hours days could have been avoided if they hadn't pissed off to the Caribbean for a fortnight, right the the very crucial beginning, when he had builders in.
Ha! No! (It's not Florida!) This is a cold, damp island... surrounded by a plethora of even tinier cold, damp islands! (Have a look on a globe. You'll see how Northern we are).
I cannot wait for people to begin investing in REAL ART again, as people did in the 50s and 60s. I find the plethora of soulless warehouse-made-in-a-factory rubbish thrown up on the walls (that people mistakenly think is Modern Art), appalling ... and heartbreaking. We used to love Art. It is AS important, if not more, than all those 'original features.' Support your local Artists! If you cannot afford to buy the Art, consider borrowing it for House Showing ... and there are always payment plans. (That's how I began my collection. And by being friends with other Artists).
I love the show I have been a fan of Sarah Beeny BUT...? Watched 50% of these shows when they first came out. Most of these guys are newcomers to House renovation and no one is perfect. We all have our varied ideas on finish and what they want to do. But most don't have massive deep pockets with money. If I was doing a project and had given my job up or went to a part time scale but was on £25k a year In my 1st project I wouldn't worry to much how much more I was going to make as a profit over my annual income. At the end of the day house re-value in my experience I was rushed into a sale of my house I was actually told house prices were heading for a decline in values yet what actually happened they went up in value I know I had health issues and struggled with mortgage payment but seriously Is a mortgage lender so ruthless they would repossess a property when property value was increasing steadily. All I really needed to do was increase my mortgage time and bring my payments to a realistic payment scheme plus I owned half the property. And my mortgage was just 12 years. In these changing times if a new property developer has bought somewhere they do have actual choices. Rental being one area of extra income. Some do it as a hobby to have an extra break or new car or pension plan. Why rush especially in London if a property in trendy London back in 1987 was worth roughly £400.000 I am sure 5 years on or even 15 years on those house prices would far far higher and more closer too £700.000 + and with sky high rents what's to lose..

Not too smart to take on a renovation job and then leave for vacation.
