I tend to let them play out without speeding them up, and capture what I capture in one take, also helps to relog into the server every sortie to keep the tracks as short as possible - but I probably have just been getting lucky, only had a couple mess up since I started messing with them a couple of weeks ago.
Great video! F5 is such a joy to fly, and very capable in the right hands. So glad Enigma's server exists. I can't imagine I would've picked up the F5 if ECW wasn't around, but it's become one of my favorite modules.
Good video Bullet. It is very noticeable when you face someone who does know how to dogfight, that MiG-21 and the Mirage F1 panicked, they did not release their droptanks and began to carry out maneuvers that only made them lose energy and put them within better range for your guns. And the Su-25... Who enters a dogfight with an Su-25 that is also damaged? xD
You mentioned combat flaps. I also just run in auto all the time. What factors are you considering for when to make a change and what are you changing?
In auto they tend to come down a bit earlier than you probably need them to, and stay down a little longer than you’d want them to as well. So when I manipulate them myself, I’m basically cycling between auto and fully raised. The F-5’s thrust to weight is pretty shit, it takes a long time to get speed back, so flap manipulation is in aid of energy conservation. If you’re flying level, zoom climbing to alt, or in a dive you don’t want to have any unnecessary drag so in a dogfight you literally only want to use the flaps it you’re pulling hard to point the nose for a shot, or to purposely bleed speed to force an overshoot. For pretty much any other action you want them to be raised, but if you leave it all to the auto setting it drops them the second you start pulling Gs which slows you down a lot when you might not want it to, and it leaves them down for a while when you’re trying to pick speed back up which makes it take even longer than it already does anyway; so controlling them yourself you can keep them raised through turns until you need the extra nose authority to get guns on target or pull lead for a missile, and you can force them back up the second you ease off the stick to help you recoup speed a little faster. On the whole the benefits are largely negligible, especially considering the relatively low skill level of most pilots on Enigma’s server - but the benefit is a benefit nonetheless and it’ll help separate you from people not doing it. Energy is life, you want to retain as much as possible at all times. Where I noted the biggest difference was for take off and getting up to a reasonable cruising speed - especially when compared to a wingman using auto. I’d raise the flaps at the same time as my gear, my wingman using auto flaps would be held back by the drag of them not coming up as quickly on their own by so much that I’d have to throttle back to let him catch up lol. So I guess on that note there’s a fuel conservation benefit to manipulating them manually too.
@@Bullet4MyEnemy This might be why I always seem to be way too slow. It makes a lot of sense. Thank you. The only time I ever change flap setting is if I'm trying to conserve fuel. Then I'll go fixed, but I haven't actually tested anything to see if it's helping or not. I've seen documentation and charts for it, but it's all real world data. I've run out of fuel on the tarmac so many times I've lost count. Not because I'm good, because I'm lucky and maybe a little dumb.
Nope, just HOTAS, pedals and head tracking. Everything I can’t fit on the HOTAS I map to the keyboard, number pad, number keys, WASD and the arrows are my go-to map areas for ease of use.
I fucking hate the radar sight, doesn’t update to my inputs fast enough. Had it work well for me maybe twice, ever. Most of the time I use it and it makes me miss - wouldn’t be so bad if you still got a static element to with, but I lose track of where the shots are actually being aimed.
@@Bullet4MyEnemy I've seen your other video on it now. I've just started flying the F5, and although I suck, I'm also not impressed with the radar sight.
I’m impressed you can actually get track repLays to work from the server… mine mess up after a few kills

I feel like Enigma has a lot to answer for regarding the emptiness of my wallet 😅
At least the Skyhawk is free, going to be looking at that next.

Enjoyed the video, would love to see some more MiG-21 gameplay in the future.
Will definitely be more Fishbed shenanigans at some point, keep an eye out 👍🏼
Very nice videos. Nice diff cameras shots. Tbh now one of the best ECW videos on UA-cam. Much love.
Perfect way to start the morning

Is it possible to load 4 or more sidewinders on the F5E?
Nope, just the two

Very sad news indeed 😁
Why no radar lock? Do you find it easier to just have a fixed pipper?

It’s an app called VoiceMod

I like it. There are plenty of creators that don't use it. It sets you apart. If it were more of a tutorial type video I'd say drop it.
