  • A walk along some of the finest coast in Ireland in the far west of Donegal. Starting in remote An Port and climbing up to reach a stunning stretch of cliffs, passing above sea stacks of all shapes and sizes. Dropping to sea level to visit the amazing storm beach at Glenlough Bay, watching seals and rivers dropping into the Atlantic. Climbing steeply to even higher cliffs and to Slievetooey Far West Top at over 1,500 ft.

Because I'm so dedicated to the Arderins and the Vandeleur Lynams I often miss truly sumptuous walks like this one...The film makes me want to get out there and hopefully one day I will. Inspirational.

Paul Moore Paul, one of the best walks in Ireland without a doubt, jaw-dropping coastline with 3 Arderins possible so your dedication will not be taken off course :-)

Cheers Roger, this has to be one of the most stunning places in Ireland and this was a beautifully clear and cold Easter day finished off in darkness with a full moon casting a silver light :-)

Cheers Richard. that feels like a long time ago and was a fantastic time staying in Port at Easter with the temperature not getting above freezing the whole week. A beautiful part of Ireland.

A beautiful place to walk, wild camp or rent the most remote of cottages at the port-donegal website

Stunning video as always. I spend hours watching your walks.
How does long it take to climb from Glen Head's Signal Tower to Port? Do you think is possible in a day to walk from the Signal Tower to Glenlough Bay? I'd like to try this summer! Thanks in advance

Cheers, I have walked from Port to Glencolmcille and back which was roughly 17km and 4.5 hours. I certainly think an extension to Glenlough Bay is manageable as it is only another few km. Another option might be to start from Port, where there is parking? Or if you are into wild camping how about Glencolmcille to Maghera climbing over the 3 tops of Slievetooey, taking time to properly digest this magnificent coast. Plenty of options :-)

Did you set that rope up to get down to the beach or is it always there for anyone to use?

There has been a fixed rope there for a few years and have used it on a couple of occasions as the last part of the drop to the storm beach is pretty vertical. It has been a few years since I have been there so not sure if still there. An amazing storm beach to explore👍
