Alvaro is painting in Tossa de Mar, Girona (Spain) its famous castle in the old town, where Ava Gardner once lived. He is doing a demo on the beach using his palette and own brushes painting very fast, while teaching about his own technique for watercolor painting.
Alvaro Castagnet also makes funny comments which makes everyone have a very enjoyable time while they are watching him paint, and learning very good watercolor lessons.
Alvaro has been working for EPC Art Courses since 2006!

I think Alvaro's secret to painting is confidence in every stroke, tell a story and just enjoy every painting...at least thats what i gather and what i try to employ in my paintings. He is definitely one of my favorite artists and a big inspiration for the style of painting i use. Alvaro is a fantastic teacher...I was fortunate enough to taek a workshop with him and learned many new ways of painting!
Alvaro is the master of tension. Large loose relaxed areas, counterbalanced by tight, detailed concentrations of interest.

Alvaro is a small toy for Dusan Djukaric, first of all Alvaro has much more experience (longer painting and older than Dusan) which is not an indicator of who is a better painter (of course Dusan, he was named by the world watercolor association among the 100 best watercolorists of all time) and the pictures show that Dusan Djukaric is currently the leading master of watercolors of today, the only drawback is that his paintings are too expensive and in addition he sold over 700 paintings in one year which is also a record, Alvaro is a top watercolorist but behind him and Zbukvica (Branko Žbukvić , a Serb father, a Croatian mother, emigrated to Australia in 1970) is Daniel Smith who has strong marketing although Zbukvic uses Schmicke because of the contract he has to advertise DS paints that are noticeably of poorer quality than Schmicke.

Alvaro is from Uruguay I'm afraid but his wife is Argentinian from Córdoba. But all the same, he loves Argentina and goes there every so often...

Castagnet for me is one of the best impressionist in watercolour I have seen ,together maybe with Jane Corsellis and Mike Chapman, Castagnet :his name sound Italian from the Treviso area of Italy I bet his ancestor come from Italy.

alvaro est un génie un peu pathétique, il se la joue anglais alors qu'ils parle couramment espagnol comme l'ont parlé ses parents et toute sa famille puisqu'il vient d'un pays sud-américain dont je tairais le nom ! pauvre monsieur c'est pathétique de se comporter de la sorte !
Merci! C'est seulement qu'il donne la majorité de ses stages en anglais, il a vécu en Australie beaucoup de temps aussi. Il parle en espagnol avec ses eleves espagnols bien sur. C'est bon de parler plusieres langes, n'est pas? :)
