    Enjoy Painting Catalonia, quality Art retreats in Spain.
    Improve your watercolours with EPC Art Courses.
    Watch this full watercolour demo by Liu Yi in Spain during his course in Girona with Enjoy Painting Catalonia in June 2015, coming back in 2016. This was filmed in Peratallada, a beautiful medieval town near Calella de Palafrugell. Language spoken is Chinese with English translation.
    For this watercolor the Chinese master Liu Yi uses warm hues to set the sunny atmosphere of the late spring day in a Mediterranean town. Stone buildings, blue skies and bright colours, only the sound of bird in a XII century walled city, totally preserved as in medieval timed, cobbled stones.

    Peratallada means "cut stone" or "carved stone". To portray this medieval warm atmosphere he uses a mother color or general tone, which is burnt sienna, this gives unity to the painting. All the variations and complementary colors are added. White awnings give some light and air to breath, the terrace adds life to this scene from the past, linking it to the present times without losing its mood. A masterpiece!

    Just one brush? Must be a super brush! handled by a maestro. By the way, does he live in Spain?

    • @EPCArtCoursesSpain
      @EPCArtCoursesSpain  6 років тому

      He normally uses a big mop for most of the painting, for details a smaller brush and for lines a rigger

    Interestingly this guy's painting technique is like Misulbu's. I guess this is the Asian way of watercolor. They don't do First Wash, second, third. This is due to their expertise with Chinese calligraphy. Those of us with shaky hands can't use this method.

      Estos pintores hacen un curso de una semana con este profesor que vino especialmente de China. Otros vinieron de otros lugares del mundo, trabajan para si mismos, unos expondrán sus obras, otros no, eso ya depende cada uno. Visite la web por favor www.epc-artcourses.com

      It's a cultural thing. Chinese males often have a couple of their fingernails long for various uses, from lifting colors in watercolor paintings to lifting dirt in their noses or ears. They are like a Chinese Swiss Knife LOL
