I'm currently failing at pvp, but I think this video helped me improved so much. I'm still trying to get better and do some research because I just absolutely suck at games in general. I still love it, and it's such a tragedy. I wish people can use the 7th tip more often ;-;
I appreciate your last tip; be respectful. I notice a lot of agitated players bark out things angrily that aren't helpful at all and I'm sure actually disgruntle their allies making them play even worse. It's so easy for players to lose their cool and take it out on their team, just don't do it. Be constructive and helpful or just hold your tongue or at least say something that can correct the behavior that's bothering you kinda thing.
Engaging in that 1v2 and not backing out feels lucrative if you're confident you won't die (bunker, thief, mesmer, etc) because of the simple math-- 4v3 elsewhere --but I suppose in every instance you look up at the score from that "stalling" event ending, you see a 3 cap, and your team's been getting farmed by the other 3 guys. Such a weird game.
i hope ppl do focus on the points u mentiond and pay more attention to team chat and communication " the golden key to win " like u said , a funny story happend to me 2 days ago : top mid silver ranking fight map was legacy of foe fire, both teams were close in points but the enemy team focusd mid for 2 mins and for a reason my team mates kept going there like flys to its zapper and the scores went up to a 100 point for them, so i asked my team to stop the mid and focus on close and far which they did and that made the enemy team disctracted for a min then i asked my team and i quote "1- we have to push ther lord 2-push push push plz " and i asked our thief to only decap ther three capd points. he told me to stop ordering ppl. ofc our push failed cuz only a ranger came with me and the thief didnt decap he was fighting vs2~3 at mid and we lost. and yes when i told him that i am not ordering ppl and asked him dont u wanna win he said yes but not with u :D pvp is the place of wonders lmao
You said what is really important here. I am new at pvp and always afraid that are not making much to help my team. I will follow your instructions my friend!
Playing unranked with guildmates is a great way to solve #7; when you are all familiar with each other it's ok to have a hot-headed moment in team chat because everyone knows it's just venting pressure. Likewise you have people to tell you to chill out. Definitely recommend pvping with guildmates
Still relevant today. Don't underestimate how much class + build can influence your playstyle and success; keep up to date with metabattle etc. A build can look good to you but actually be weak; play the right build and a meta class to give yourself a chance
I used to think it was impossible to tell when you're about to get 1-2 shot. You really just need to practice until your eyes adjust. For me, by the time I got my legendary pvp wings, I could say I've survived several moments that would have meant death. Here are some of them. - familiarise which weapons on a class has the damaging skill. (yes you will have to play these classes or watch videos and try out these killer builds) - familiarise the range of openers and their tells/telegraphs. - familiarise what skills can save you which will serve as you panic button when you get jumped. (cleanse, stun breaks, heals, evade, etc)
Hi GS thanks for the tips, i just started my pvp journey in season 8, and manage to get from mid silver to mid gold by end of season, applying this tips in my playstyle. I know mid gold is nothing for some people, and i'm still learning but the point is, this tips works. And yes i didn't use scourge or skillbreaker :). Druid all the way!
This video was awesome. Gave me tips that I hadn't considered. I was just focusing on trying to get kills in even though I'm still not good at killing. But decaping and running? Yeah, that I can do!!
I’m only Gold 3 so I’m not Plat tier yet, but whenever I see one player who’s doing really bad, I’ll just say in team chat, “Hey ____, not to sound rude but I noticed you’re dying a lot. We should stick together so I can help keep you alive.” That might come off as a bit over-bearing and some people get annoyed if you say that, but a lot of players will say alright and let you lead the way while they folllow, like an inpromptu double team. And usually I’ll save my best heals for them to keep them alive whenever possible. It doesn’t always work but the team usually does better if I convince the player who’s doing the worst to stay close to me.
the afkers are the only ones I bash, they come and use the excuse of being behind 30 points to afk. Solid video bro keep it up! one thing I didn't see in this vid was the pvp builds, it's surprising how many players don't know about the pvp build interface.
I watched this video a while back and can't remember if this was ever stated. This game is limited in terms of communication which ironically is an important aspect of winning games. For those who are unaware, you can setup a "team" channel in PvP. If you want to win more games, simply communicate with your team. We have a minute to set the tone for the match, we have to make the best of it. For absolute beginners... double capping points gives experienced players a heart attack (especially in ranked PvP) please don't do that. Its a complete waste of a resource if your primary focus was not to hold that node. Another thing when it comes to elementary map strategy, you can win a game by just holding home and mid majority of the time. If you aren't a very mobile class like a thief, portal mesmer or a very good 1v2 class have a very good reason for going far especially if your team is already winning home and mid often. Another thing to be aware of is that the meta has evolved from just bunkering and 1v1 to a concept of creating rotations and constantly putting fights in your favor (this is how I've seen the pro's play". If you are new, PvP is going to suck. Majority of the people who play PvP aren't squinting their eyes under pressure while button bashing at the same time because they've taken the time to practice before they hop onto ranked PvP or played that class elsewhere for a while. If you've read this much, either you waiting to pick up something which you can rant about saying its bullshit but if you actually care then my last piece of advice is understanding how to become a mechanical player in PvP. Simply put its "controlled button bashing" Take a weapon set and assess its skills but most importantly know its cooldowns. The key is to workout at which point you are vulnerable and what that can possibly lead to. Once you've done that, begin working in the rest of your skills and think from an offensive perspective and then defensive. I hope this helps newer players.
Some ppl are so mean :( I understand that having bad players are hard to deal with but really dont make your day bad and his/her day worse than it already is the worst thing about gaming is that some players are deeply rooted into the basic premise of " I am better than you " :( we must try every day to try not to turn our fav games into a negative platform ! ^^
One and a half years later and there should be *views* amount of players better in the basics of the basics in PvP. People do PvP and get into it. Not only is it alot of fun, you can also improve your playstyle with your class by getting to know new builds. I personally enjoy tinkering with different builds and such. Just 2 advices from someone who's playing on platinum+. 1. DO NOT play rankeds until you're absolutly confident in your class, build and the basics. Play unranked and tinker with your build and playstyle until it works. I can not say this enough! There are players that get carried to gold and even platinum and it gets really apperant once there are 2 or more of such players in one team. 2. Use the map as a communication tool. Learn the pings and learn to react to them. Dont waste time writing esseys in your group, or worse, map chat when you could be using your time doing objektives or disableing the enemy team. And if you have to write keep it short and simple for others, who may not speak your language, to understand. I always say... when it works it's fun. And a full team of competent players is always a bliss to play with, no matter if win or loose, because those matches are really close and intense and fun to play.
I am looking to at least try some rank play this season. An I will always be a PVE'r I just do not want to hold the team back and improve. So yea any more of these you wanna do will only help/.
I'm not sure how the game has changed up to now, but it's frustrating to play against some classes. When I look at the damage received I realize that somebody crit damaged me for 22k just 1 skill! I'm not experienced at all when it comes to PvP. I know I need to learn my enemies skills but still, I'm a tank 27 health pool and I'm basically 1 shot all the time.
Because everyone says their elo, I'm gonna do it too. To your 1st point... sometimes its prty good to die if its worth. Example time: I played rev and was able to keep 3 enemy team players away from the mid, keeping them in a fight against me. This strat brought me to plat I guess... But if you dont your class at least decently... Pls dont try it xD hf, maybe it will work for you.
Good advises but man, you did many wrong moves on the first match that's why you lost. As support ele, last thing you wanna do is roam. You only keep the point, contest it when its decapped and help team fights or 1v1. You had this habit or going to beast and coming back or going offensive when you aren't supposed to do that, it's not your role as supp ele.
Which characters are easy to play in pvp? I always wanted to jump into pvp, but it seems so complex, especially that specializations and nerfs/buffs come in.
uhhh necro... in low ranks a scourge kinda cant go wrong just go mid, and then mess around with big aoe's... also lets you kinda spam skills and still win 1v1s against other noobs.... another pick is ranger, for a sniper spec so you can just kinda learn how to kite around while 1 shotting people from range..... another would be core guard with greatsword... fairly easy to plays... I usually teach people a deadeye build that's really forgiving and forces you to only use best practices or you die...but uhhh sticking with ranger, necro, core guard usually can't go wrong with pvp....
looks like you still have a lot to learn, its not just about holding caps, in this meta, you need to snowball the game with kills, also if you have a thief, push the far point to create more 1v1 situations so thief can +1; dont push on a point that isnt yours on a 1v1 unless you can decap it or thief +1 you, looking at the map and equialize fights with numbers would help
Luis Oliveira you still have a lot to learn, conquest style/objective focused pvp has never been about comparing the size of your e-nuts and finding out who can 1v1 who. it's very much so about holding nodes and strategic play around doing so. that's why you can go all game killing mufuckas and still lose because you have no caps.
@Luis Oliveira, I'm sorry, is this video title "How to play the new meta in PVP"? Or is it "Must know Tips to IMPROVE (IMPROVE - IMPROVE - IMPROVE - IMPROVE - IMPROVE) & Become Better at PVP"? Seems like your comment is not related at all to the video. Nobody is talking meta here. But I can understand your need to feel superior on the internet.
Bro I understand this video is for Beg... But let's go - don't die - at least not too quickly if you are holding a point even being a lost war... Hold it until you are ok to run away try to keep other team busy... Say Hello be friendly - when I have someone saying hello in team chat I know it's a lost... Kind of a rule be smart and use the time to understand other team composition and build your own strategy... Well I would comment other points but I'm too lazy... About your game play... Don't Zerg around the map... Don't use camera shack... Don't Zerg around the map... Don't overload without kiting ... Don't Zerg around the map... Ele support don't go for beast... Don't Zerg around the map... Heal is to be kept all your team mates at max HP the less they have to worry about it the more they can focus in their game play... Don't zerg around the map you are Ele you can hold a point until all your teammates respaw
In the first game every time you went far it was a waste of time. If you play Support ele stay with your Team (especially to necros if you have one in your Team)
Support build, people keep calling it shit in pvp. You keep them alive with tons of heals and clear condis on them while buffing them, they don't care.
So pvp counts downs and full kills as kills but only a full kill will give 5 points. So if someone downed but was able to get back up it would still have counted as a kill for you but your team wouldn't get the 5 points.
I am a new player, and my experience of pvp in this game is entirely bad. I cannot see how or why people think it is fun at all! A constant stream of Spawn, go out to fight/capture a point/support, die in about 3 seconds and back to spawn point. After a while, I start to think 'why am I doing this?'. I watch videos like this one, to get ideas and tips, to get inspired to try again. Then I read the nasty comments and am reminded of how some players are so toxic towards me in pvp matches and I feel like it is not worth the effort. My first 10 games in pvp, I was on the winning side once (nice carry, team!). The other games went as described earlier and I just endured them, like a visit to the dentist. No fun at all. No learning. Now I avoid pvp completely and I KNOW I am missing out on some great rewards, but I feel so intimidated by the experience that it seems too much pain for me.
yeah it sucks bro spvp is pretty mad atm, people are toxic just ignore them they always push blame. ppl who are toxic and constantly hate and put hate comments will always stay where they are in that mentality because its that mentality that is keeping them there rather than maybe play all the classes and understand why they are keep losing. if u play all classes u will understand that some carry better than others so if ur up against all dh and druids for instance u better of taking a scrapper with bunker build and carrying the game wasting enemy time in 2v1 and 3v1 then splitting with stealth/invul. most toxic people ive met are theifs that wont change class and run into mid and keep dying but blame the team when the opposition doesnt have a theif and is full bunker, some games some classes will be outclassed by others.....
fight on point is usually a horrible idea, with how much aoe pressure people can put down, better to hop in do damage leave, fight on point only applies to scrapper, some ele builds, and 1 or 2 warrior builds(nonmeta tank builds) everyone else should be doing their best to just survive.
from my experience, if you don't have any friends to play with (on Teamspeak or whathaveyou) or you are NOT in a guild and playing with guildies you are pretty much going to receive gutterspeak in your chat ALLDAY.From pvp and then sometimes they find you in pve and continue talking trash...lol!!! I remember when I was in VINDICTUS and had my own guild and everything...some guy starts telling me how I should show off my skills to new players so that they join my guild. Of course, I refused...and somehow this guy put a TROJAN up on my screen locked me out of the game... you might say I got hacked for NOT showing off, wth? Some people are just those type of people.....(THEM) If you come across these types in the description above, report them/don't confront them (could be hacker or moderator)/go play some of your single player games. just a thought.....and no I am NOT an expert player at gw2 (par at best)
@@haraldharam9334 don't know...its just that to play some games you have to lessen your security profile in your comp. This is ok for some who have the VPN or whatever but I had none. So if he is a good hacker or knows geek language it's easy to send a trojan I had a hacker friend who actually could shut your comp off to where you could not turn it back on.
I'm gold, let me give you guys some tips; 1. Don't play ranger. Ranger is absolutely shit in pvp, unless you play stealth druid, even that is pretty weak in my opinion. 2. I see some other classes are fine, Warrior or Necro for example. but guardian is the most overpowered class in my opinion. The game isn't very balanced, guardian is very very op because, well, think about an assassin who can kill people in 3 seconds, that is very tanky and can heal himself and allies a lot. 3. Stop everything you're doing and get tranquility. In temple of the silent storm there is a map objective called tranquility. You really don't want them to take it. Also there are other classes that are fine, Like mesmers and engineers, but these two require a lot of skill. Guardian doesn't require much skill you just spam everything and everyone dies. You can kill everything 1v1 or even 1v2 with guardian. Even other guardians if you play right.
I played a lot of different games, never seen a super-character who's tanky healer and a very good assassin. That's just an insane combo. Imagine lucio in overwatch, had roadhogs hook and genjis dash and reapers shotgun. I mean what the hell.
Every class is fine if you know how to play it, that is to say know your skills, rotations, bursts, but also your role: if you play druid, you're support/healer and should be in teamfights helping others, using stealth and stab to rez or stomp. Or you could defend a point quite easily. The druid is the class I main in pvp, and I have much more victories with it than guardian. My point is: learn to play your class, learn to position yourself, and learn your role in your team. You'll be better with a class & build you like and master than with a "op" class you don't know how to play.
+KiLLergoD1011 Yeah well, i played druid and lost 6 games in a row. Played guardian and won 15 games in a row. I see that druids can be fine but maybe i'm just very bad at it. I still think basic rangers are really terrible, though.
Reason you're still at 7k subscribers after all this time : the vid doesn't really start until 2:25... seriously I don't care WHY you made this video, I'm watching it because you're supposed to tell me your tips to get better at PvP. why are you dragging this video out longer than it has to be? and honestly, what kind of shit tip is "don't die"... of course you don't want to die, but I am and that's why I'm trying to watch this fucking video
+Ajax604 if all you got from my first tip was don't die, then watch again, you clearly didn't listen. And what do you mean after all this time? I'm getting between 450 to 700 new subs per month. Compared to other smaller channels and even other GW2 channels I'm growing very fast. Please do your research and learn to listen before making such a narrow minded comment. If you don't like my videos, unsubscribe, or don't watch, both of us would be a lot better off that way, I certainly won't lose an arm if you unsubscribe. Sorry you're part of the minority, but thanks for the feedback nonetheless.
Well I do find your videos are too long for what you say... You repeat yourself a lot, try to be more concise, you'll be more clear in you explanations. And don't forget it's a video, not a conversation: if I didn't understand something or want to hear a part again, I just go back in the timeline and watch it again. Perhaps if you'd be more "to the point" I'd stop watching your vids in 1.5x speed ;)
so which div are you if youre so far better?, And hes maybe like me better understand the pvp play but dont have the skill to equalise for his understanding
+High Street Kings whatever your point is doesn't justify how my tips were of poor value. That's clearly what your implication was with your first comment to try and discredit my video. And the fact that you don't really give any feedback or tips of your own show that you're just as narrow minded and as much of an asshole than anything else you're trying to be, I have the feeling you're the one in bronze and stuck in it, because you certainly have the mindset of a bronze. I'm sure if 7 tips from a silver player were so terrible I wouldn't have a 78% up vote rate for this video on Reddit, sorry you're part of the minority.
I'm currently failing at pvp, but I think this video helped me improved so much. I'm still trying to get better and do some research because I just absolutely suck at games in general. I still love it, and it's such a tragedy.

All useful to a new player. But even Legendary players need to apply rule 7.
Indeed.
hey man i am Omega El Duro thanks for playing with me today! awesome video like always
+Carlos roberto thank you, was fun :)
8:28 - 10:55 Drinking game, take a shot every time he says "point" or "points."

don't be afraid to go more basic in TIPS for the game. some of us are just starting pvp, actually most folks are starting pvp.

+zigy the gamer lol so many instances I could relate with here.
You said what is really important here. I am new at pvp and always afraid that are not making much to help my team. I will follow your instructions my friend!
Awesome, thanks for watching!
Thank you for the video, I'm a beginner at PvP so these tips will definitely help me ^^
+Serenóa glad yoh found them helpful! Have fun.

Most of the time IDK wtf is going on. I just get 2 shotted most of the time

just play warrior
Thanks for the tips - it's good reminders of basics for vets and for new players who are asking for advice!

Number 7 is why I hate playing with strangers. I'm just starting and being told how bad I am is not helpful.
great video, great tips. to add to #7, i would say that if you push people away with your attitude, you will eventually have no one to play with.
Damn this was just basic competitive gaming 101. Thought it was going to give me something exclusive to gw2 pvp
going to spam this vid in pvp lobby. such common sense has yet to be consumed by the masses.
Haha, thanks!
keep it up bro, nice video specially the enjoy the game part!
+Denis Weber thank you, glad you enjoyed!
Really nice tips! Now I just need to get the balls to do pvp XD

I usually teach people a deadeye build that's really forgiving and forces you to only use best practices or you die...but uhhh sticking with ranger, necro, core guard usually can't go wrong with pvp....
Wait... you don't die a lot on your guardian either? NO WAY... A GUARDIAN? HOW? Top kek
Really great guide
Thanks!
And Well... dont go afk.
great video ty and keep up
+Dimitar Georgiev thanks for watching, and glad you enjoyed!
video starts at 2:20
most of what your saying will come with experience.
looks like you still have a lot to learn, its not just about holding caps, in this meta, you need to snowball the game with kills, also if you have a thief, push the far point to create more 1v1 situations so thief can +1; dont push on a point that isnt yours on a 1v1 unless you can decap it or thief +1 you, looking at the map and equialize fights with numbers would help
Luis Oliveira you still have a lot to learn, conquest style/objective focused pvp has never been about comparing the size of your e-nuts and finding out who can 1v1 who. it's very much so about holding nodes and strategic play around doing so. that's why you can go all game killing mufuckas and still lose because you have no caps.
akujin ghost lmfao dying irl^^^
Luis Oliveira ur giving a advice to a overrated player who just got out from bronze to silver. its pointless
I do still have a ton to learn as well, thanks for the additional tips!
Thanks for this vid :P
Thanks for watching!
yet if you can keep an opponent in a down state while on the point that's a pure win. only real time I can think of not to finish off an opponent
This didnt help at all. Stil went in feeling like knew nothing. And. died knowing nothing.
You keep them alive with tons of heals and clear condis on them while buffing them, they don't care.
this is a motivational video...
+Hellebore now that I listen to it again, some parts do sound like that.
Lol I had a game in gold 3 where I got 21 kills 0 deaths. 105 points for my team by killing others
Well I had fun on EU servers
I played with my Lvl 15 Mes and My lvl 4 Ranger
2:40 how don't you get hammered there?? If that were me i'd be dead in a matter of seconds..
We fight the same battle, I got dragged into Bronze because of idiots. I noticed that the team aspect of Team games is no where to be found
Well over time, the more you play, if you're half decent odds are you'll climb out of Bronze at least.
Gaming with GS that is true, also need competent teammates.
Which you'll get every now and then. It's still grind based a lot for some people in Bronze.
Gaming with GS pretty much so.
Stay awesome!
What level should i start PVP *conquest??
U can actually play pvp from lv 2
I suck at my class but work with other people because i suck lmao
bruh my team is always Running around how can i look where my team is pff they dont know what means (take points)
Stopped watching at tip one. Common man.
Stopped watching when he said "my journey to gold"
nice video but try aiming ranger instead of their pets xD
almost all ranger fights you have been aiming pets due to taunt
Yes, something I am pretty oblivious to at times.
its a HAVE TO WATCH for all players i guess XD
A little repetitive but great tips.
Quick maths
Point
'gg' pisses me off because in many other games I've played it is always used as an insult. so I never use it.
Haha, good point, some people do take it that way.
I don't gg if it was a smash. Only if it seems legit and respectful.
I say Good Game instead of GG so I don't look like a prick
This problem must be solved if ArenaNet let us play again with 5 friends, not just 2.
They will allow it again, next season.
I shared that information with my guild. Thanks!!!!
Also for the fight on point doesnt apply to thief hahaha
fight on point is usually a horrible idea, with how much aoe pressure people can put down, better to hop in do damage leave, fight on point only applies to scrapper, some ele builds, and 1 or 2 warrior builds(nonmeta tank builds) everyone else should be doing their best to just survive.
wtf you doing with your girls apron son 15:53
soccer balls are kicked around
People love throwing themselves in the meat grinder lol
Second??
You know, i can draw you a better avatar for your channel.
*Dies while talking about not dying*
"Use the map." - Dora the Explorer
that voice....
Nothing more annoying than elitist scum saying "RTFM noob"
skip the tips. more pew pew'ing
can you give me shout out plz reply
Hi!
Why use the name of our Lord as a curse word, you do know you broke a commandment right???
Apologies.
First?
2 minutes into the video, zero tips so far...
all useful tips, thx for that. but your fighting is piss poor, for real XD
annoying voice to listen to non stop for 23 min...!!!!
made through 3 min and still the tip 1 is: Not Die... *facepalm!
from my experience, if you don't have any friends to play with (on Teamspeak or whathaveyou) or you are NOT in a guild and playing with guildies you are pretty much going to receive gutterspeak in your chat ALLDAY.From pvp and then sometimes they find you in pve and continue talking trash...lol!!!
Some people are just those type of people.....(THEM)
If you come across these types in the description above, report them/don't confront them (could be hacker or moderator)/go play some of your single player games. just a thought.....and no I am NOT an expert player at gw2 (par at best)
What the fudge? How did he do that?
@@haraldharam9334 don't know...its just that to play some games you have to lessen your security profile in your comp.
This is ok for some who have the VPN or whatever but I had none.
So if he is a good hacker or knows geek language it's easy to send a trojan
I had a hacker friend who actually could shut your comp off to where you could not turn it back on.
I'm gold, let me give you guys some tips;
Thanks for the additional tips!
I'm gold with a bunker druid, it works fine...
Saw camera shake. Stopped watching.
Sad face.
7 tips.....from a silver rated player. LOL
+High Street Kings almost gold. These are the snarky comments I'm talking about. Thank you for making yourself a prime example.
You're welcome. Almost gold is nothing. Maybe if you learn a thing or two about pvp you could reach plat/leg. Good luck.
so which div are you if youre so far better?, And hes maybe like me better understand the pvp play but dont have the skill to equalise for his understanding
Oh, I'm platinum t3. Feel free to search me up. Lycarak.
I'm sure if 7 tips from a silver player were so terrible I wouldn't have a 78% up vote rate for this video on Reddit, sorry you're part of the minority.
ahahah u soo baad I'm the ruler of the world and pvp and your moms life ahahahahahahaha
I know I suck, thanks for noticing.
