1 tone in major keys: semitones between mediant (III) and subdominant (IV), and between leading tone (VII) and tonic (VIII) in aeolian minor keys: semitones between supertonic (II) and mediant, and between dominant (V) and superdominant (VI) in C major and aeolian A minor e.g. between E and F, and between B and C
Hi, my savior, I was at cello lessons today, and the main subject was tones and semitones I didn't have a clue, I've had a headache all day long until I found your page, and now no headache, everything made clear I shall be following you, great stuff. Thank you. Oh, I worked out there are 12 semitones in an octave, is that correct?.
Remember that if someone said move a note by a semitone means go 1 key forward i mean move to left to right. But if someone said move by a tone means go 2 keys forward. Example if your in Middle C Key and move by a semitone means go to C# Key. But if someone said move by a Tone means go to D Key if you're in Middle C. Im only talking about the keys in the piano not in the staff. This can help you learn more how to make Major and Natural Minor (maybe) Scales and Chords if you remember the formula like TTSTTTS. I hope this was helpful and understandable because im just a 10 year old kid 🙃. Edit: If you are in a Black Key and move by a semitone then go to the White Key. But if you move by a tone then go to the next Black Key. But if you are in Eb Key (in the Treble Clef) and move by a tone then go to the F Key because there is no such thing as a E# or a Fb Key. And if your at a E Key and move by a tone then go to the F# key. Same thing as Bb Key. and And B key This thing is still the same as when moving down a Semitone or a Tone. Remember when you want to mive a note say the Direction (Up/down) and Distance (Intervals)
It's twelve. An octave has 8 natural notes. Add in the accidental notes and you have twelve total notes per octave. A semitone between each note means you have twelve semitones.
1:51 Natural semitone .. is where we cross the board Withholding nothing .. Just when there’s no black key in between Semi-tone’s (half steps) become natural - so that’s why it’s called Natural semi tone ? (Teacher.. I tried plz leave a comment for us 😂😂😂😂)
Answer of the last question.... Notes are F and G.... F to G are Tone.... To make them semi tone apart .... We need to make F# AND G, F AND Gflat... These notes are semi tone above and below...
This is annoying. Why don't you mention the fact that all of these notes are just conventions? It's not real. The division of tones and semitones and whatnot is based in history and not physics.
you my friend have the most comprehensive music theory videos on youtube..i learned with you a lot... thank you sir

@@MusicalVision-A you welcome
My 7 year old who is learning the piano says there are 12 semitones in an octave.
2 semitones in one octave (in both major and minor scales)
TTSTTTS - major scale
TSTTSTT - minor scale
hey why are they different?
It's twelve. An octave has 8 natural notes. Add in the accidental notes and you have twelve total notes per octave. A semitone between each note means you have twelve semitones.

There is no black note between B and C and E and F. So, people might easily confuse those half steps with those natural half steps as whole steps.

One tone between A and b and yes you could add either a # or flat to make two semitones. Think that's right ?
That's what I think too

EXTREMELY HELPFUL!!!
Thanks for helping me with my homework
Thanku sir it's really helpful...👌👌👌👌
My piano is almost 1 semitone flat a sounds like a slightly higher version of g♯
Where did, "Don't take that TONE with me" come in?
1 tone apart. Turn it in to a Semitone by raising to a sharp or lowering to B flat.
Awesome brother & thanks
Whenever I thought of semitones, I thought of the JAWS Theme.
I just uploaded a song based on the semitone, if that might help someone.
Cheers!
Since E is a semitone away from F two semitones away from E is F#. Same thing for the B and C.
12 semitones are in an octave.
10 semitones are in a octave .
