  • This 6.5 Creedmoor has taken multiple game animals out to 500yd for me! In this video I dial it in with Hornady ELD-X rounds, and compare them to the tried and true Norma bondstrike.
    In preparation for deer season 2022, it’s critical that I get this right!

    ELD-X is a mechanical bond, not a fusion bond like the bondstrike.

    The eldx is not a bonded bullet. It is a standard cup and core and doesn't hold up well at closer ranges. I know from experience out of my 6.5 Creedmoor. If you want a bullet that holds together and gives consistent pass throughs the eldx isn't for you.

      You might like my hunt with this rifle from the fall. 15yd shot on a deer. Title starts, “we found a sick buck…”

    Keep the copper out of the barrel, you are good to go! I can not stress this enough! May I suggest the Montana Extreme Copper Killer. Also, if you reach up and grab the forearm, pull down and back on a 45* angle, you will not believe how much it improves your shooting. The bullet is in the barrel for .200 of an inch while the gun is under recoil. How you handle the gun for that short period of time, can help eliminate flyers.
    There is a term called "loading the Bi Pod" which helps eliminate flyers. With a Harris type of by Pod, you push slightly into the Bi Pod to add to the stability, especially when reaching up and grabbing the forearm as I described.
    I hope that you take this in the Spirit of me trying to Teach, not find fault as I am not that type of person.
    God Bless!

    ELDX are far from bonded. Yes they have the mechanical bond ring thing but almost on all the gel test the core separates from the jacket.

    Awesome video! Since you went through all of the effort to shoot out 500 yards, it would be great to see some expansion tests. Easy for me to ask for, since it costs me nothing... 😊 If possible, put some pork ribs next to an old roast, wrapped a couple of times in a leather chamois, backed by a 'high tech, fleece bullet stop'. I'd love to see those results! Cheers!

      I might still have pics from the deer I took last year at 500… I’ll have to look.

      @@Leehealy-wheninthewoods That would be great, and if you do end up using the ELD-X this year, don't hesitate to make a video. I'm sure everyone would love to see the results!

    The Hornady ie not a bonded bullet . The norma is the best choice . How they shoot is up to your rifle .

      I’ve had a few viewers tell me they are not since sharing the video…I believed they were but I may be wrong! The Norma definitely are.

    The ELDX is not a bonded bullet and it’s not a hunting bullet that this old timer would ever use let alone recommend for hunting anything larger than a Jackrabbit!

    Bondstrike is a better bullet

    Interesting but think you did yourself an injustice shooting of your sticks the way you did. That didn't help the accuracy potential of your kit 👍

      If I was shooting just for groups, I would use a proper bench rest. You’re absolutely right. But to get close to a hunting rest, I like to shoot off the same sticks I hunt with.

      @@Leehealy-wheninthewoods That is not what you say in the intro "it's critical I get this right"...you are comparing rounds, right??? THAT should always be done from a bench!! Now I wonder what other BS you're slinging...."taken game out to 510 yds" 😂

    he probado el sh4 4-16x50 y realmente no agrupa bien a 400 metros. péndulo de 8" y de 3 a veces solo impacta 1, máximo 2 . rifle de caza tikka t3x, no varmint barrel.
    a 100, 200 y 300 metros no hay problemas... lo bueno es de 400 en delante

    • @Leehealy-wheninthewoods
      @Leehealy-wheninthewoods  Рік тому

      Google translate: me pregunto si estás calentando demasiado tu cañón antes de disparar a 400 metros. También puede ser un problema con la munición que usa. El tikka es un rifle excelente, y si tu visor está montado correctamente, debería disparar buena munición a más de 400 metros sin problemas.

    Nice rifle what is the height of the scope rings?

    • @Leehealy-wheninthewoods
      @Leehealy-wheninthewoods  Рік тому

      I think these are the 0.92” rings for the 34mm tube from Arken. Mounted on a 20moa rail.

  • @kencrowe1965
    @kencrowe1965 2 роки тому

    You need a much more sturdy rest to shoot from!!! Every time you shoot, there is WAY too much movement with the entire rifle. Not good for testing accuracy nor groupings. Shooting on that bag you have laying on the table would be 100% better. Not trolling, but just from 45+ years of shooting and experience.
