A really super walk Dave towards that fabulous town of Sherborne. I can't believe its taken me so long to find your trips, and i am so glad i have now. I really appreciate your professional and excellent knowledge which makes your narrative so interesting. Thanks to you and of course Logan.
Super useful video for me because I am hoping to visit and spend a few days in Sherbourne later in the year on my way to Totnes. I think Logan could sense the ghost of Sir Walter Raleigh when you stopped for a drink as he kept looking behind. Thanks for all the info and history. Very interesting.
Sherborne is beautiful, we are lucky enough to live here. We’ve still not visited the castles or the Abbey but it’s very high on our list of things to do. I envy you going to Totnes. We lived in Devon for 14 years and it was one of my favourite places to visit.
What a beautiful place Sherborne is sorry that I never made it there. Wonderful walk great day glad you two never got wet. You know me love ALL the history you add. enjoy that cup. Thank you two. INCREDIDLE
Lovely walk Dave. I really want to visit the old Sherborne castle, having been to the newer one in the past couple of years. The parish church in the town is incredible. The first time I saw it, I couldn’t believe it wasn’t an abbey. Sherborne is a gorgeous place to visit.
Lovely views and countryside!❤ Thanks for your programme! The last time I was in Dorset was in July 2016, when me and a friend went to Wool station and then visited Bovington Tank Museum.
David. Some excellent walks you have covered. I wonder whether you have considered editing-in maps identifying waymarks. By that I mean places you have stopped to take in views or features, indicated on the relevant map.
Thank you. Yes, good idea. I do try and highlight points on the route where it might be tricky to spot, say, a footpath sign (they can often be well hidden!) but perhaps including a map on screen at the same time would indeed help - particularly as you say, for the views. Thanks for watching.
Great video Dave. Just to let you know that I've got a Playlist of your videos which I've been looking at for the past few years on UA-cam... Many thanks for what you do.
A great walk Dave, and not far from us so we'll definitely give it a go! We have walked up past the castle, but then went the other way, so were interested to see your route. We look forward to all your walks, but enjoy the Dorset ones in particular as they are the most accessible for us. Thank you for all the historical facts along the way too!
Thank you Pauline. Logan & I have got something like 25 walks in Dorset planned for 2023. Just need to wait for some warmer weather & brighter days before kicking on with the filming of them! Thanks for watching.
💚Great video, Dave! Love all the history and info you share on your walks. Can't wait to visit Sherborne and see the stunning old castle and incredible parish church. The countryside is always so beautiful in Dorset.🌳🏰👀Thanks for sharing!🙌
Thank you. I often get asked which is my favourite place to walk & I really struggle with an answer because I just love the variety of the countryside. I am very fond of the deep woods of the New Forest, the stunning Jurassic coast, the rolling Dorset landscape, those enchanting Hampshire chalk streams, the South Downs .... I could go on! As long as the sun is shining.....!
@@DaveFord I am with you Dave as long as the sun is shining! It makes each place look so special . Just beautiful each and every place you go. Take care Dave and Logan . Have a wonderful weekend and see you both on your next adventure.☀️
Fabulous as always Dave, you and Logey are our absolute favourites on UA-cam, huge thank you for all the great videos you make. We alternate our holidays between New Forest/Dorset and Switzerland each year. Where is your fav place to go on holidays?
I was born and brought up in Hampshire, lived in Devon for 14 years and now live in Sherborne. Being retired is a bit like being on holiday a lot of the time, especially as we live in such a beautiful part of the country. However what I envy you most is going to Switzerland. I was lucky enough to go there in 1963 when I was just 11, it holds a very special place in my heart. One of my favourite places is the Lake District. I first went there in 1971 when I was at University but it’s very expensive and overcrowded these day. My other favourite place is the Scottish Highlands, it reminds me a little of Switzerland in places. But it’s a long way from Dorset!
Lovely walk again Dave - Dorset never disappoints. I had to google Chapel of Ease as I'd never come across that before. I thought it would be an excellent name for the outside loo!
Cup of tea Dave? Don't tell me you've signed the pledge? No crisps for Logan? Nevertheless, another enjoyable walk Dave through an area I often travel, but have never walked.
Some memories, good and bad. I was stationed in Sherbourne Ambulance Station about 20 years ago.
It is a lovely area to visit for sure.

Thank you & indeed welcome to the channel! I hope that you get to enjoy the future videos in the series. Thanks for watching.
One of those Haydon Camp Nissen huts ended up as the skittle alley of the Gainsborough Arms in Milborne Port nearby.
Thanks for the extra information and indeed thank you for watching.
Excellent walk. I was a student at Sherborne School from 1999 to 2002. The town did not change at all, just like yesterday.
What a lovely place to spend your schooldays!

Thanks Jean. Hope you have an enjoyable visit when you go, there is so much to explore in & around the town.

Thank you Lavinia. We were lucky with the weather that day - I was convinced that we were not going to remain dry!
If you do get the chance to visit Sherborne please take it. We have lived here for 5 years and love it
Lovely walk Dave. I really want to visit the old Sherborne castle, having been to the newer one in the past couple of years.
The parish church in the town is incredible. The first time I saw it, I couldn’t believe it wasn’t an abbey. Sherborne is a gorgeous place to visit.
Thanks Lionel. The "old" castle looks like a great place to explore for sure.

Thank you Gareth. There was a lot of history in that one!
Excellent commentary with good history and details. Thank you for the info. Off to visit the place soon.

The walk in the countryside with stunning beauty
Thank you Keith. :)
Logan seems to enjoy the walks.
He certainly does - he s a good lad!
Love Sherborne. Thank you for this.
Thank you Diane. :)

Thank you. No, for some reason I just felt like a cup of tea that day! From memory, I think Logan ended up with a sausage roll so he was happy!
Could have sworn I saw Audrey in the window at the lodge..
curious question Dave, I thought Sherborne was somerset, not Dorset
Sherborne is in North West Dorset ..... fairly close to the Somerset border.
I’m glad you pronounce Sherborne correctly, and not SherBun like some new residents do.
Thank you Rich. The pronunciation of place names can be a bit of a minefield at times!
Yup , hear that pronunciation so much recently especially up here around Bradford Road lol
@@DaveFord My favourite is Woolfardisworthy in Devon, pronounced Woolsery!
