I love this guy. The way he honors his mother, his generous acknowledgements of his friends, his affection for his husband, his good humor, his sense of fun, his self-deprecating, self-aware remarks about his collecting "addictions," his appreciation for history, and the attitude with which he's turned the loss of a wonderful home into "one of the most exciting adventures of our lives" - he reveals all that in nine and a half minutes. He's great, and his color sense and decorating eye are fantastic, too.
What I love about Ben Pentreath's interiors are that they feel so liveable, so forgiving of normal family life, and so welcoming to visitors. They feel in no way 'designed' or contrived, not too precious, but full of lovely interesting things.
Thank you Ben and House and Garden for taking us on a tour of your lovely home. Any home that has masses of books and a dog or two I am already interested. Very stylish and eclectic. Your guest must immediately feel welcomed and relaxed. Thank you for sharing.
What a tragic thing to have to move, however I hope that the new adventure and the beautiful landscapes of the north will further inspire you both. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.
A beautiful home. Thank you for showing us your 'pink' living room. You have confirmed my choice for my own home despite some naysayers expressing their opinion. Best wishes from Australia.
Beautiful house. I hope it is acquired by worthy people who will love it as much. And that this nice man is happy in his new house. Thank you for the video.
What a beautiful, warm, welcoming, and inspiring home! I wish Ben and Charlie all the best in their next chapter of home. I hope one day we'll get to see how they create their next abode. I'm sure it's going to be lovely and soulful, as this home was.
Utterly charming. My favourite period house. The windows are stunning. The garden is a vision of beauty. I love his quote …. The kitchen is like living in a egg yolk 😅
Ben and Charlie have heaped loving care and imagination upon this marvelous home and garden. I’ve been observing it for years and am in mourning that we will see no further refinements here going forward. Of course, it will be good to see the new home in Scotland as it develops but I know I will be missing this very special place. ❤
Wishing you and your husband the very best of luck on your new home adventure. Please show us around when you can, just love your lovely exuberant home and sure your next home will be gorgeous too.
Being optimistic about moving on is a demonstration of this designer's generous nature and openness to change. I admire that and have tried always to be the same as the world changes around me.
I find myself very drawn to this person. He seems extremely personable, he's very accepting of life's twists and turns and his own and his partner's foibles. He is unabashedly happy with who he is, how he is and what he does. The home is a perfect, exhuberant reflection of he and his partner's personality and lifestyle. Just perfect.
Rarely do I say this is a home I could live in… I think minus the flower room. It’s a fascinating room but not something I would need in a home. And other than the yellow paint in the kitchen, yes this home is perfect. He is right in saying it doesn’t feel like an antique store even though so much of it is vintage. It’s a perfectly balanced blend of vintage and just enough of contemporary furnishings and art and books, etc. I freaking love this home and he’s an angel and an excellent decorator!!!
I feel very sorry for this man because he said he and his partner have to move because the property is being sold. We got lucky to have seen this wonderful home.
Oh I'd be heartbroken if I had to leave that gorgeous house! I wonder why Ben and his husband couldn't have bought it from the family. Just love what they've done with it and the idyllic location it's in...
This is the most exquisitely beautiful house/home that I've ever seen - the delicately designed wallpaper, the deeply soothing and inspiring paint colours, the eclectic and beautiful furniture (particularly the floral kitchen sofa), the dogs and chickens, the dreamy garden, and last but not least, all the wonderful interesting books calling "Come read me!" everywhere, into which I could just disappear and not emerge for six months! Such a massive upheaval/adventure to come - I wish you well and much happiness in your new home. Maybe you will update us eventually on your next garden/designs, colour schemes, etc ......... 🌻
What a charming house and host. Everything feels relaxed, attractive, well cared for and cherished, unpretentious and personal. The host is also engaging and lovely.
What a wonderful man! His voice was so pleasant and his tour was free of pretension, and full of charm. I'd have liked a longer video. Take care and have marvelous Holiday Season. DA - Vancouver, WA - USA
Just a wonderful house with great taste. Having the dogs makes it more homely. I do not feel so bad about my house being so full. I must watch this again.
Ben and Charlie have actually moved from this home, and bought their own home in Scotland, I believe Skye, as I get their blogs all the time. They have purchased a beautiful home on the ocean. It is so lovely and Charlie is already organizing where he is going to do his gardens. Very exciting and nice to have seen their move and getting settled with their furniture.
Absolutely love your home, so warm, inviting and 'lived in'. Your choice of colour and pattern is just perfect. Your collections are so lovingly displayed. So sorry you have to leave it but no doubt you feel excitement at your new venture. Hopefully you will be transforming and bringing into life, another old master of a home. Wishing you both well xx
Breathtaking. A lovely property turned into a magical home entire thanks to the creativity, hard work and devotion of the men renting it. Without their life force, their effort poured into it, it wouldn't be half the place it is. Gorgeous, I hope the new residents treat it even half as well. I'm so looking forward to see what their new property will be and how they will make it yet another magical home. It's really exciting isn't it? Thanks so much for this upload.
Charming, lovely man, beautiful home, cute dogs. Happy home...I too have a love of vintage printing press posters. ..love all of it...from Australia 🦘 🌏 xx
What a shame you have to leave your house, but I love your positive attitude about it. I painted my hall, staircase and landing pale grey and loved it, but as the years went by, and I felt the cold more and autumn and winter seemed to last forever, the grey became depressing. I changed to a really bright yellow, like your kitchen, and it's like instant sunshine every day. Love Robert Kime, too.
Wow, what a beautiful house! So full of color and character and yet filled with echoes of the past. Would love to see where Ben's new home will be when he has it ready for all to see. :-)
The man and his home are both super charming. Truly a shame he and his partner can’t stay after putting in the work and really great taste, but I’m betting they’ll land on their feet.
Oh my goodness. After all your blood, sweat and tears into this beautiful home, you have to leave it and go north? I’m not sure I would think moving is a great adventure. And I not sure you would be able to replace the beauty and charm in history of what you now call home. But I guess home is where you lay your head.
He choked up a bit. We revive cement and plaster houses to go on another century in Canada we've done 5, were now moving to England in days and were looking at picture of our houses amazed but choked up cause they're like our kids. You never own a house it owns you xx
What a beautiful home! Isn't it a shame to invest so much time and money in a leased property though, only to have to leave once the lease ends or it gets sold?
Genuinely curious about how long a house like this takes to clean? Obviously this house seems immaculate and I assume it’s been deep cleaned for the video. I’m going to assume he has a cleaner. But for other maximalists, how long does it take to clean and how often does it get done? I have a half way between minimalistic and a maximalist two bedroom apartment and it takes me about 2.5 hours every week or so, to keep it spotless and gleaming like in this video. That alone prevents me from buying more.
The teacups next to the tub have me imagining the anxiety I would be feeling if I was his guests. Does one empty the teacups of any water that might have accumulated in them while showering 😬.

How brave he is to talk about his "new adventure" after creating such a home.
What a lovely man. He speaks of everyone in his life with such love.
What I love about Ben Pentreath's interiors are that they feel so liveable, so forgiving of normal family life, and so welcoming to visitors. They feel in no way 'designed' or contrived, not too precious, but full of lovely interesting things.
I love the way you've phrased it, forgiving of normal family life.
The perfect comment! I totally agree with every word.
Thank you Ben and House and Garden for taking us on a tour of your lovely home. Any home that has masses of books and a dog or two I am already interested. Very stylish and eclectic. Your guest must immediately feel welcomed and relaxed. Thank you for sharing.
I can’t imagine packing up that house!
It must takes months and months and months! 😭
Charlie’s father came from New Zealand to help during the summer.
Books, dogs, beautiful collections and style for days. Just loved Ben and his warm inviting home. Can’t wait to see his new one♥️
this was so beautiful it almost made me cry
I could never imagine leaving this beautiful home. Best of luck on your new adventure ❤
What a tragic thing to have to move, however I hope that the new adventure and the beautiful landscapes of the north will further inspire you both. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.
What a lovely man, just adore his house, so beautiful, so interesting, so alive, unique& fab.
Thank you Ben ❤🙏

How wonderfully Lucky and blessed to have spent some of your lifetime with your husband in such a dreamy place. ❤❤
Wishing you and your husband the very best of luck on your new home adventure. Please show us around when you can, just love your lovely exuberant home and sure your next home will be gorgeous too.
Their new home is Westness House, Rousay, Orkney Islands, Scotland.
Being optimistic about moving on is a demonstration of this designer's generous nature and openness to change. I admire that and have tried always to be the same as the world changes around me.
Such a treat to have a look inside the lives & home of Charlie & Ben. Almost teared up by knowing they'll soon have to leave this piece of Paradise.
What a truly charming man…
& his attitude to life was utterly infectious.
Loved every minute of this.

That garden is perfection, my dream!
So charming. Would love to explore every nook and cranny!
Beautiful I wish their videos were longer. They’re too short not enough time to see he’s beautiful houses.
Oh I'd be heartbroken if I had to leave that gorgeous house! I wonder why Ben and his husband couldn't have bought it from the family. Just love what they've done with it and the idyllic location it's in...
I understood that this big estate was sold as a whole (lands, village, manor house, parsonage,…)

Lovely, lovely. I hope we will be able to have a tour of their next home.
Both he and his husband post pics of their new house on Instagram.
Their new home is Westness House, Rousay, Orkney Islands, Scotland.
Wow- I’m glad we got to see this wonderful house before their move! Thank you !
So Comforting! Lovely Charm.
This home is so lovely! So warm and inviting.

Cozy and tasteful with personality……love it!
His new is as equally as beautiful, sublime and serene.
Thankfully we have a record of this house, that by now is probably empty.

Pretty. I’m not a minimalist but that’s a lot of stuff.
The wallpapers are beautiful.
Hundreds of mugs!
That gorgeous house and you have to part with it??? I am bereft on your behalf 😭😭😭
I can't imagine spending any money on a leasehold that was under about 50 years but glad he did
I’ve looked at photographs of this living room so many times. V exciting to see it in a video! I have parsonage pink in my home because of this room 😊

The man and his home are both super charming. Truly a shame he and his partner can’t stay after putting in the work and really great taste, but I’m betting they’ll land on their feet.
A really nice watch 😊
Who,a can you imagine the packing involved for that move?! They've been good stewards and I'm sure they'll find something very special.
Their new home is a gorgeous remote manor house in the North : Westness House, Rousay, Orkney Islands, Scotland.
Good luck with your move💐
im gonna cry
Love this❤
How I will miss the parsonage...
I don’t want to dust those rooms full of everything.
Been following both Ben and Charlie on instagram for years. Didn’t know their parsonage is being sold off…😢😢😢

4:19: what is a "drer-rweweng"?
Drawing 😂😂
I would buy one of the places. It would be a respite from the US.
An eccentric combination here, odd personages in the parsonage
Delicious...
Genuinely curious about how long a house like this takes to clean? Obviously this house seems immaculate and I assume it’s been deep cleaned for the video. I’m going to assume he has a cleaner. But for other maximalists, how long does it take to clean and how often does it get done? Pretty property
Wonder if he ever runs into the electric wizard guys in Dorset?
