As someone who wants to be a game dev, I am extremely scared of seeming like I’m ripping off what I’m inspired by. It’s good to see stuff that shows what and what not to do.
I mean palworld's developers openly embrace ripping off other games. It's a really smart business model honestly. They take games artstyles/gimmicks and combine them or improve them. Their next game is hollow knight rip off but with 4 players instead of 1. I'm not sure about the ethicality of it
@@KBhunterx262 yeah, im also keeping an eye on that one. In curious to see if it's another game where the systems weirdly click, if it has innovation in its mechanics, or if its just derivative. Also curious to see how other Metroidvania devs will respond to it one week after release.
Honestly PalWorld has given me less Rip-Off vibes more Non-Union Mexican Equivalent vibes when compared to Pokemon. Because a rip-off wouldn't have done anything different with the base Pokemon design format; Whereas this decided to throw a BOTW And/or 7 Days to Die/Rust-Style system on top of everything. Creating a not entirely unique game, but one that's fun to play. One people actually had fun making and didn't do it just for a paycheck.
@@sinfulloccultist950 Yeah. I think it's mainly garnering attention because Nintendo hasn't well paid much attention. They're like a hawk with these kinds of things. The moment a fan project or something like one of their games gets made; Bam, they issue a cease and desist faster than Wario jumps on loose change. I think it mainly has something to do with Japan's screwy copyright/fair use system. Which lets them play free and loose with copyright law but allows them to sue the pants of anyone who's not them when they violate it one iota.
That plus they took all those dark suspicions you have have about what goes on behind the scenes in Pokemon and just put it all out in the open. The realistic brutality combined with the sanitized saccharin aesthetic played 100% straight with no irony is hilariously dark.
7 days to die creators are just pricks I dropped that game recently I played it since it came out on Xbox 1 its ruined for me you should see the shit they said and how they act towards criticism
10:50 & 12:28 It’s also a matter of realizing that making comparisons is okay to do! It’s in our dna, our instincts as animals to identify things based on appearance- shape, color, etc. To examine something and determine if it’s safe to eat, pick up, etc. It’s okay if the Pals look similar to Pokémon, because it’s something that’s comforting and familiar to the eyes- and there’s also the factor of inspiration whether it’s slight or extremely referenced.
At the very least, if Palworld’s success gives Pokemon more competition. I’d be happy. Especially if it meant Yo-Kai Watch having international releases again. I have a friend who’s a huge fan of Yo-Kai Watch.
Well at the very least Level-5 has some plans with this new yokai based game. We can only hope for the localization of YKW4 and YKW1 on switch sometime.
Honestly, the fact this is the dev's first game where they made the models themselves while having some actually really good original designs is quite a big pro
ive been ignoring the palworld discussion cause its a blah subject to me, but with with your artstyle and funny n bouncy commentary, i will buckle down and listen
A lot of people have this sentiment but personally I think Pokémon is looking looking at this game, seeing how generally unpolished and sort of minimalistic it is and thinking “Hey, this sold really well, this just means we only need to put it a tiiiiny hit of extra effort in and people will still buy it.” So really it could go either way. I want the Pokémon games to improve, but at the same time I don’t think Palworld’s success is going to be the catalyst that makes Pokémon become a proper triple A worthwhile game.
@@TurbopropPuppy ???? I don't even play palword man, I'm not into ark style survival games. I just hope it can do enough in the field to give pokemon a little spark for once.
I don't, sorry, but I don't want to encourage theft and unoriginality. The developers philosophy of never inovating and riding on others success really disgusts me, as consumers your only concern is and should really be if the game is fun, but as an developer and artist I can't see it as anything else except an abomination like the other pocket pair games
I totally agree with madz about Arceus and S+V. I loved Arceus and was so let down by S+V. Among S+V's many many issues, the main reason I came away from it unsatisfied was how cumbersome catching pokemon was. In Arceus, throwing balls is a mapped button, be it starting a battle or just catching without battling, where as in S+V you have to awkwardly smash into pokemon on the field which happens all the time when you don't want it to, because the models are tiny and hard to see and always in the way, and you can't run away when you ever you want, which makes no sense, so I ended up avoiding even getting near any pokemon I didn't want to battle. It feels so disconnected and video gamey. In Arceus balls work they way they're shown to work in universe. Throwing is a set command, you can do when ever. And Catching is so arbitrary that sometimes a pokemon will be very low health and still not catch. It's a pain to catch low level pokemon, because they need to be weak to be caught, and your team will just instakill any weaker pokemon anyway. Just everything in S+V feels like a step backwards from Arceus. And one the main reasons I've been enjoying Palworld is because its using the same kinda gameplay loop Arceus had, where catching is an easy to do mechanic, and where low levels pals can be caught without needing to battle. But the world still has high level and rare pals out and about, existing organically in the world, and unlike in S+V where you can't run away if caught for some reason, Palworld is like Arceus where you don't just get locked in place when a battle starts, so if you're losing a fight or get caught by a high level enemy you can run away and try to escape. EDIT 2 MONTHS LATER: I kinda felt the need to return to this comment, in case anyone still sees it, because in all honesty, I’ve very much softened on S/V, and I find I no longer dislike it as much as I used to. In fact I’ve honestly come away from it pretty positive over all, and ironically enough Palworld kinda helped me with that. I was very much in the wrong head space when I first played Violet, and the game certainly leaves a bad first impression. But I feel like now that palworld exists, I no longer compare S/V to Legends Arceus and have instead been comparing it to the Pokémon games that came before. And Violet still had everything I loved about the previous Pokémon games, and if anything improved on them in ways I didn’t see. I just don’t have the anger to be mad at S/V anymore and instead find myself enjoying it more and more. I don’t blame anyone who still dislikes it, and I don’t retract any of my Criticisms of it, but overall I can’t say they’re bad games or that I dislike them anymore.
Early on you can make a berry farm and a feed box and after that the pals feed themselves *and* make enough extra to keep you fed too. Basically everything can be automated and just runs itself.
I've been having fun with the game on gamepass, but my god was I hesitant bc of the BLATANT plagiarism in some of the designs, the water serperior straight up yoinked primarina's hair model, contours and indents and all. I just genuinely hope they redesign some of the more agregious models, I quite like some of the original designs! Also props for discussing the levels of plagiarism and not doing the "nuh uh", "idc based" or "everything is a rip off bc of vague similarities"
I agree maybe they should redesign and while the sanke one has the same hair it could also just be that the hair is a ponytail, but i could be wrong though also i dont kmow where people find they are exactly the saem since the guy who said who had the 3d models are they are 1 to 1 xame out to say he lied and messed with the desgins to fit
I think madz is my favorite UA-camr. I wonder whatever happened to him? Haven’t heard from him since the early 90’s. Same with circletoons, of course, but we all know the sad reason he isn’t heard from these days. Poor guy died due to the housing crash of ‘08. Oh geez, and when I heard trickykappa got shot in the chest by a knife I was crushed. Truly tragic. Good thing madz is still with us (even if he is a major fruit addict). Boy how old is he these days? He started in his hit show “getmadz” back in ‘93,of course, and he was in his 20’s, that was his golden age. The spin off in ‘96 (beet’s world) was kind of strange. Having beet as the main character felt weird, especially when kianu reeves voiced him. I just did the math and he’s 54 nowadays. Yikes. I just looked at images, and the years haven’t been kind to him. Alright I’m done with that bit, clearly 4 hours of sleep isn’t enough,
I feel atp it's genuinely a hot take to say I still enjoy pokémon SV while also enjoying Palworld. I simply enjoy them separately because both games aren't really comparable enough to say one's actually better than another. Overall though, I like Pokémon Legends Arceus more than both, and if SV went more in that direction with its mechanics and whatnot while also adding level scaling, it would have been a damn good ass game
Okay I didn't know how to feel about the designs until you mentioned it was their first time using 3D models. Now it makes since why it has that Fakemon vibe because it literally is. I mean everyone needs to start somewhere and I hope they grow in their design skills in the future!
Honestly. I'd be willing to give this game a chance, but my GOD some of the shills I see online turn my opinion of the game from nuanced to literal trash. No, this isn't the damn game of the year. I wouldn't even say it as a joke, let alone unironically.
Both the haters and the shills are overblowing the whole situation imo, and I say this as someone who *was* one of those haters until a friend bought the game for me. The game is like an 8/10 at best, could become better with updates, and frankly it's an entirely different genre than Pokemon, so it's not going to be competition for said franchise at the end of the day, so idk why all the bootlickers keep calling it the Pokemon killer. And god people are acting like half the designs are 1:1 ripoffs of Pokemon, when there's only like maybe 10 of them that can be considered ripoffs
Yeah. I think the worst for me is the ones trying to excuse Palworld’s copymons by pointing to a handful of Pokémon that are similar to dragon quest monsters. And it’s like look, did some Pokémon maybe take inspiration from other games? Yes, but that’s a tiny fraction of Pokémon while Palworld I get excited when I see one that doesn’t look like a blatant rip-off. I’m still not going to mistake a Dragon Quest monster for a Pokémon or vice versa. I get reflexively trying to defend a game you like but some things are pretty indefensible. Also the ones trying to pretend some really basic base building is somehow groundbreaking. Like I get that maybe a lot of them haven’t played anything except Pokémon (which they seem to be perpetually angry at for some reason) so all this is new to them but I feel like most of the over the top love is people trying to stick it to Nintendo for some reason.
@@cathygrandstaff1957 Yeah I keep seeing so many people obviously burned by pokemon hoping this 'challenges' gamefreak or something. Like they just want to like/hype up a pokemon killer to spite pokemon. I completely get that (havent even bought a new pokemon game since gen 7), but there are so many red flags and problems with palworld I can't see why people advocate for it so hard. But also like, you don't have to justify playing it, just enjoy the game if you want to. And the creator loving ai and crypto is a dealbreaker but that's another tangent
@@PixelCollie liking ai isn't indicative that the game itself was made with ai. besides, if it was something you liked that was being shit in due to the dev; you'd probably be all "seperate art from the artist"
This is probably the best video I've seen on the topic. Your points about how the few rip offs make people think they're all rip offs reminds me of that viral twitter thread that compares like 60+ pals to Pokémon. About 20 of them were 1-1 rip offs or those chimeras you mentioned, there were a few that were kinda iffy and then yeah, stupid comparisons like penguin pal=Pipulp and Depresso=Espurr. I really hope that they remove the rip offs and let their actual original designs flourish more.
The creator is super into ai so I wouldn't be surprised if updates include ai gened pokemon designs. Yeah it's been proven the current ones aren't but some of the interviews he's done make me worried. I really want to like the game too, but that would be the dealbreaker for me. The game's future doesn't look promising
Honestly I really haven't seen much of fakemon "theft" from the Palworld part. Like the flame goat is just...a flame goat, and the Delphox one is mostly a Braixen clone. There was also apparently one that was more blatant with the Hangyu Pal, but at the end the Fakemon came to have been designed after the Pal's first showcase back in 2021-2022. Also in on of the developers interview it came up that they had to abandon Craftopia for a while in order to be able to develop Palworld and have now returned to work on and update the game (not to excuse them but if they are willing to go back to the game that is 100% a shameless copy and probably won't give them much earnings from now on, that at least can guarantee that they will definitely not abandon Palworld for quite a time at least)
Yeah the accusation of them stealing from fakemon is a bit crazy, especially since the fire goat and delphox have a ton of fakemon that are generic. There is like 10 mega delphox Fanart that you can find easily, and the fire goat comes heavily from the old belief of fire types from pokemon being based off the Chinese zodiac, with a goat being one of such animals. Arsox the pal doesn’t even have the samurai motif, just are both red with gray horns and fire.
i hate the fact that they stole from people's fanart and how they took things and designs from pokemon. Like there are plenty of artists out there looking for a job that are good at character design. it's so lazy to just steal and even worse to steal from fanart artists because they have way less power to do anything about it.
@@sonicmaster206 literally show examples in the video. And i even saw the fire fox design being made in a fakemon art video of some artists that tried redesigning their least favorite designs.
What does sort of worry me is that the creators 'Pocketpair' have not fully released any games yet. Nearly every game on their steam page is early access, ranging from 2020-2024. In their other games, there's still a lot of bugs and errors that people have complained about (but has never really been sorted). I do like Palworld so far, but I am worried for its future.
If my "fakemon" that only a few people saw on social media blew up in a game like this i'd quite frankly feel honored that it was good enough. Maybe just me tho?
I'm fairly neutral about this whole thing overall, but I *do* think most people are overreacting about it. There are questionable designs and stuff, yes, but MANY of the comparisons people make are just... "Oh no, it's the same animal as this Pokémon," or "Oh no, it has vague similarities to this Pokémon that are fairly generic." If you're gonna point out potential plagiarism in a game, point out the ones that can *reasonably* be seen as such. Not just "Oh no, there's a fire fox (Something so generic that a whole web browser is named that)."
Tell me you havent actually looked into the plagiarism allegations without telling me you havent actually looked... No. The majority of the accusations are NOT boiled down to "it just the same animal." Cremis is literally Eevee. Full stop. Azurobe is literally Serperior with Primarina's (very specific) hair stitched onto its head. Dinossom or whatever it's called is literally Goodra with Meganium's face and flower stitched on and Serperior's tail stitched onto its butt. So after that initial wave of "that is literally a copy/pasted Pokemon", you start to look at the other "inspired" designs. And you find Slowpoke's face and Sobble's fin stitched onto a body the same color and similar shape as Clodsire's. You find a Galarian Meowth's face, line by line identical, slapped onto a Cheshire cat inspired Pal. You find Cinderace, complete with his exact same posture, "clothes" patterns, demeanor, except painted green and given more "leafy" asthetic, and Leafeon's ears stitched on. You find Silvally's crest. Corviknight's beak, talons, chest feathers, and some of its armor. Mega Gardevoir's dress, posture, and proportions, her "hair" and face structure. You find Blaziken's feathery legs. Then, now VERY suspicious, you notice that wolf looks A LOT like Lycanroc - not like Wolf Link, or Fenrir, or OTHER video game wolves that should allegedly look identitcal because "they're all wolves". Just Lycanroc. Then you see a dragon that looks suspiciously like Salamence and Latios smushed together - not the thousands and thousands of other dragons in video game history, all based on the same "animal", Salamence and Latios specifically. One case of potential inspiration in a vacuum is not theft, or even suspicious. Literally every single design in your game (except like 4 maybe) being derivatives or blatant copies of another game's characters IS good evidence of theft.
@@drawingdragonbro gun yo my head I couldn't even call 15 of these knock offs, pokemon doesn't own animals and that's where most of the similarities are. Yes some are stolen but 1. Who gives a fuck? And 2. It's less than like 20
Someone also pointed out one of the supposed fan art thefts was actually made after pal worlds release announcement, and that the palworld artist is also a fakemon or whatever artist. Even as exact as some of these guys keep trying to sound they are leaving out various facts or other elements and doing little to prove their claims and even then there's holes in peoples arguments. There's a lot of people just overreacting and slinging mud.@@ivybennett2274
Manta rays do move by "gliding" through the water and are shaped like hang gliders, so I'd say Celaray is in the "same concept that inspired a Pokémon" camp. Besides, Mantine was supposed to also be inspired after a fighter jet and use Remoraid as missiles. I'm flabbergasted that the "Pokémon with guns" designers didn't straight up give Celaray missiles.
If Nintendo does end up suing Palworld AND if it does something, or if the Palworld devs make a decision themselves, I hope what happens is that they do redesign some of the pals to make them more unique, there may be one or two designs that are actually original, but unfortunately that's not the case for most of the pals in the game, that's the main problem with Palworld, it does look fun as heck to play, but it rips off not just designs from official pokemon but also from fakemon and that's a big no go for me and a lot of people, and that's a shame because there is potential in Palworld.
@@RedHatGuyYT Uh... yeah? I should hope your ethics get in the way of your monkey brain acting on nothing but pleasure-seeking impulse... And this isn't just a case of "one of the devs has a political opinion I disagree with", which is still an understandable reason to not support a game, but it has nothing to do with the game itselt. Blatant theft from both copyrighted characters AND independent artists (if the Fakemon allegations are also true) is actually DIRECTLY in the game. Saying "I don't care if it's stolen content, it make brain do happy chemical" is a REALLY bad precedent to set for the future, especially for devs and artists that don't have Gamefreak's success bufffering them from the theft without really being affected.
Ome or two original? Out of 133 pals you think there only one or two uniques desgins and all the rest must be colys but not inspired? This games has been in Development for awhile, if pokemon had a case they would've made one but given that a lof of pokemon has different i dont think pokemon has a case.
I love how nuanced this video is! It gives fair praise, fair criticisms of the game in and out of the the designs, and admits that people with criticisms aren't just like salty pokemon bootlickers or whatever, and even gave solutions I would be really hyped to see! I definitely have a bit of inner resentment from the fact that I have to double check which discord server I'm about to talk about the funny thing that just happened in my palworld game in to make sure it's not one where people are gonna get really mad and spew into arguments over just me trying to have fun, and a loooot of those people seem to be pokemon fans, but at the end of the day that would just be anecdotal evidence and I can admit that the criticisms are understandable. The game is fun and I'll be really happy to see it through to the end of its development.
@@solarboyaaron4652 Idk when you're a pokemon fan seeing people go head over heels for what just looks like a mid unity asset flip feels like whenever Squidward performs well in Spongebob and gets shit on for no reason also all the pals look like blatant knockoffs/fusions of certain pokemon.
i think in general the big thing for me with palworld is i KNOW id love this game if i played it, but for now i cant play it just because i care too much about artist’s rights and couldnt be happy with myself if i supported creative “theft” in a professional vein like this. i cant blame anyone else for playing it but i personally cannot.
this is how i see it. if it's fun and it actually functions and the price is actually reasonable and not 70$ for another "creative" copy-paste, play it. the art thing is baffling to me as most of the pokemons\pals are based on bleeding animals. (as for fan designs, there's so many that overlap is inevitable. you can't make something 100% original in today's age, only improve).
@@carolthepyro899 don't the come with the same inspiration argument because other monster tamer franchises don't have that problem and the models are 1 to 1 copys of pokemon models in many aspects, the topology, weight map and rigs are all the same and as an 3d artist I find obvius to see that those models are just edits of pokemon models, and the only people saying you can't make new things are the one who don't have even a single drop of creativity
they arent 1 to 1, close maybe, but not 1 to 1. that's a lie and a half right there. but even if they didnt copy pokemon, they likely would be compared to other monster catching franchises out there and there's a ton of designs. overlap will happen. and as the video suggests, there is original designs in the game. as a 3D artist yourself, never call out another artist (Unless it's straight up tracing or anything that actual undeniable evidence) cause it can come back to bite you later when you make something and suddenly that thing gets compared to something else someone else made.
I feel like Nintendo is just salty that this indie studio with much less of a budget than them has been able to achieve popularity on par with their latest Pokémon titles.

I agree about the adventure/exploration genre being at odds with the survival genre because of having to go back to the base periodically. I think the exception is dungeon exploration games like Mystery Dungeon and Etrian Odyssey where you have to go back to base periodically anyway and I could see adding some better base building mechanics to those. Seriously Atlus, if I’m in town for literal in game months to climb a tree I’d like to actually get a house to sleep at instead of always paying for the inn. But on the other hand it would be weird to add a base to mainline Pokémon games because it’s something you have to disrupt your adventure to go back to periodically. Especially since Pokémon centers are free and frequent. Maybe too frequent. I think they should remove the most blatant copymons, if they did people wouldn’t feel like they were just copying Pokémon. I can also see what you mean about tracing to learn. I think they probably ripped the models from Pokémon and altered them a bit to make original monsters.
I disagree with removing them, mainly cause ppl would STILL compare them regardless. happened with temtem and the likes, no point in removing something perfectly functional for loud morons that spend more time playing twitter than actual games. And for the survival aspect, I just cook food and go out exploring, then make another fireplace if I need more food, then finally make my way back to base once I feel I gathered enough resources and captured the pals I need or found.

I honestly think that one's just a pure coincidence, considering these two games launched at about the same time (Well, Palworld is in EA, but you get the point). I don't think they'd last-minute copy a design from, not only a fangame, but a fangame that isn't even another monster tamer. I think it's more likely that they didn't even know UTY existed. It's a very funny coincidence tho.

Honestly, I've always dreamt of making games with aspects I am super inspired by and love... but after seeing Palworld go through the absolute wringer from doing just that... It's almost like people DON'T want fun games being made. Like how someone who doesn't know how to take a compliment so they insult the complimentor for complimenting them.. then later go complain how no one is nice to them, Like geesh... learn what you want lol... I for sure think this is going to put the already introverted inspiring game devs into the corner and scared of trying to do anything similar/familiar in their games just for fear of the backlash we've already seen.. despite me thinking game devs SHOULD be taking aspects of games and chimeraing them into one... (I've always wanted games like that.)
Even if it is better in peoples opinion, it will take forever for it to manage pokemon in the marketing division, pokemon has aton of ads and commercials, toys, movies, shows, books, and in my opinion i think palworld will inevitability fade out, just like yo ki watch, and others
I haven’t played it but after seeing a list of pals I see several that look good and original but there are several that just make me think of stolen pokemon designs and slight modifications to avoid legal trouble
i saw an article earlier that apparently the devs already announced their new game so it seems like the money from Palworld's success might not go to its longevity but rather on to the next game and given their track record might just be another "copycat" of an already popular game which is disappointing.

I think there was another before even MegaTen, but I don't remember anything about it really, I just remember seeing a video about that. Point being, the genre has existed for a LONG time before Pokémon was even conceptualized.
I don't remember where I've seen this, but the examples you guys gave of "stealing from fan designs" don't really apply to some of these. For one key reason: some of those drawings were made AFTER the first trailer of Palworld dropped, where a couple of designs were already revealed, including one of the Pals that people Say is a copy of Tinkaton, but Tinkaton came after the Palworld trailer as well. I think it's more of a case of "convergent ideas", at least here. But the water Serperior is still inexcusable.

@@KBhunterx262 yeah, im also keeping an eye on that one. In curious to see if it's another game where the systems weirdly click, if it has innovation in its mechanics, or if its just derivative. Also curious to see how other Metroidvania devs will respond to it one week after release.

Hi
(My name is Pal)
Honestly PalWorld has given me less Rip-Off vibes more Non-Union Mexican Equivalent vibes when compared to Pokemon. Because a rip-off wouldn't have done anything different with the base Pokemon design format; Whereas this decided to throw a BOTW And/or 7 Days to Die/Rust-Style system on top of everything. Creating a not entirely unique game, but one that's fun to play. One people actually had fun making and didn't do it just for a paycheck.
This. Especially since games like dynamons has been out for years and is much more derivative
I love how Circletoons accidently caught a human with 3% chance within 5 minutes of his first playthrough
It sounded like something straight out of his shorts.

It’s also a matter of realizing that making comparisons is okay to do!
“Selling humans is the meta”

Maybe the real pals were the humans we sold/butchered along the way.

Honestly im just hoping palworld does enough to convince gamefreak and tpc to actually give a pokemon game the proper time in the oven

And that lets you breathe freely while you start building up to better food alternatives so you can feed more powerful Pals.
When I saw that grass elephant, my exact first thought was "Is that the Asone grass starter?????"
Also props for discussing the levels of plagiarism and not doing the "nuh uh", "idc based" or "everything is a rip off bc of vague similarities"
sorry, what did u exactly say in the final? im not fluent on english, so i actually dont understood ur "complains" (i think are complains)
Alright I’m done with that bit, clearly 4 hours of sleep isn’t enough,
Hopefully it’s just a break phase or a big video in the making
I'll do you one better. One of the interviews said one of the designers is literally a fakemon artist.
i really hope that, definitely would be the good ending! but i dunno, i just have the omen that they ignore it and think only on the money, u know?
Honestly. I'd be willing to give this game a chance, but my GOD some of the shills I see online turn my opinion of the game from nuanced to literal trash. No, this isn't the damn game of the year. I wouldn't even say it as a joke, let alone unironically.
Yeah a lot of palworld fans have been pretty insufferable
The game's future doesn't look promising
depresso espurr isn't really a bad comparison. The shapes are very similar, you could turn an espurr into a despresso in like 2 minutes in zbrush.
@@PixelColliethe creator isn't your thinking about someone else

I mean i did have fun with it but I'm a bit worried that palworld will end up just like their last game
i hate the fact that they stole from people's fanart and how they took things and designs from pokemon. Like there are plenty of artists out there looking for a job that are good at character design. it's so lazy to just steal and even worse to steal from fanart artists because they have way less power to do anything about it.

Actually they do have a fully released game its just not talk about
I stopped playing the moment i had to wait 15 minutes for my pal to heal
There's a lot of people just overreacting and slinging mud.@@ivybennett2274
No hate but the manta ray is a glider and Mantyke and Mantine are flying type
Manta rays do move by "gliding" through the water and are shaped like hang gliders, so I'd say Celaray is in the "same concept that inspired a Pokémon" camp.
Besides, Mantine was supposed to also be inspired after a fighter jet and use Remoraid as missiles. I'm flabbergasted that the "Pokémon with guns" designers didn't straight up give Celaray missiles.
Palworld
...sounds like my home. My name is Pal
If Nintendo does end up suing Palworld AND if it does something, or if the Palworld devs make a decision themselves, I hope what happens is that they do redesign some of the pals to make them more unique, there may be one or two designs that are actually original, but unfortunately that's not the case for most of the pals in the game, that's the main problem with Palworld, it does look fun as heck to play, but it rips off not just designs from official pokemon but also from fakemon and that's a big no go for me and a lot of people, and that's a shame because there is potential in Palworld.
personal ethics!
getting in the way of saying "fuck it" and having fun since ancient times!

Even if it is better in peoples opinion, it will take forever for it to manage pokemon in the marketing division, pokemon has aton of ads and commercials, toys, movies, shows, books, and in my opinion i think palworld will inevitability fade out, just like yo ki watch, and others
That is the logical point of view
YO-KAI WATCH MENTIONED! HYPERFIXATION ACTIVATED!
Fossil Fighters continue being forgotten!😭
@@FTChomp9980I haven't forgotten bro, your not alone
I haven’t played it but after seeing a list of pals I see several that look good and original but there are several that just make me think of stolen pokemon designs and slight modifications to avoid legal trouble
Think? As someone with a year of blender use, I'm sure of it, lol
i saw an article earlier that apparently the devs already announced their new game so it seems like the money from Palworld's success might not go to its longevity but rather on to the next game and given their track record might just be another "copycat" of an already popular game which is disappointing.
I can never view this group again the same because of the toonuki lab videos
The only real shady thing I will say that palworld most definitely IS, would be thats its almost nothing like the trailers.
What you mean its not like the trailer's? Its in beta rn not fully released
Still early access
@@lawless7512no excuse. The latest trailer shows how far along the game ACTUALLY is. The earlier trailers were straight up lies. As much as I love the game, thats a BIG fault I can, and will acknowledge. Pocketpair has done this before with Craftopia. Early Access is NOT an excuse for false advertising.
@@unironicallydel7527 the thing is stuff might be added, like many other betas, look at terraria beta compare to the trailers, or some of sonic beta. Betas are meant to change stuff and add stuff. That's why it's called a beta. Call of duty, heck I bet you can find the elden ring beta and it will not be the same. Legend of Zelda beta. Most betas aren't like their trailer because betas are proof of concepts not the actual game it's not just early access it's early access beta.
@@lawless7512 Again, we will see. I have my doubts any of what you're saying will be true, as I imagine you're a pocket pair fanboy, but we will see. They are a shady studio. I like Palworld. It is fun. Their track record is not a good one, disregarding all the BS AI allegations and pokemon ripoff stuff which, most of that shit is a biiig stretch to even conceive of.
holyyy shit yo-kai watch mentioned
HYPE
YEEAAAH
Yes, you should really love a game for the game. Don’t judge it until you play it, but even then don’t be in all the controversy about it 😊
17:20 I am going to say this so no one else has to: “OOF(Mario 64 sound)”
I thought kappa was a pal at first
It’s been 5 months…
Now 6
Play cult of the lamb
CircleToons!
But overall Palworld is in the Monster Taming Genre and by the way Pokemon doesn't own the Genre in fact Shin Megami Tensei started it.
I think there was another before even MegaTen, but I don't remember anything about it really, I just remember seeing a video about that. Point being, the genre has existed for a LONG time before Pokémon was even conceptualized.
Indeed, but they own 3d models, and you can't say palworld didn't steal that
@@plfaproductionsBru why TF am I seeing you in every comment 😭 you must really like pokemon 😂
@@scriggle3564 nope, I just really hate palworld
Circle at the end with the lizard… same man
Nice to hear some normal takes on Palworld
I don't remember where I've seen this, but the examples you guys gave of "stealing from fan designs" don't really apply to some of these. For one key reason: some of those drawings were made AFTER the first trailer of Palworld dropped, where a couple of designs were already revealed, including one of the Pals that people Say is a copy of Tinkaton, but Tinkaton came after the Palworld trailer as well.
I think it's more of a case of "convergent ideas", at least here.
But the water Serperior is still inexcusable.
One of my favourite animators! You try to improve your art video by video and it shows. It's an inspiration for my work!
Oh my gosh I love this video so much. I perfectly sums all of my opinions on the subject. I don't think Palworld is doing anything maliciously and there's actual heart being put into some of these designs. I just don't want to support them because I want to respect creative integrity, and seeing most of the Pal designs being less than original has always rubbed me the wrong way.
Great video, great discussion, and I'll be linking it to others if they ever want to know the real issues with the game.
But your not supporting artistic integrity of artists, your supporting the artistic integrity of corporations that exploit artists
@@ivybennett2274 pardon? What corporations am I supporting?
@@pand47_ Nintendo, the only one hurt by this plagiarism is Nintendo, the lazy mega corporation that's been shitting out half assed games for a decade
@@ivybennett2274 I’m not supporting Nintendo in this, I’m just against Palworld. If we as consumers let game devs know we are alright with unoriginal and uninspired designs, then the industry itself will be affected, and future games will be worse for it. I don’t care if this hurts Nintendo, but games in general.
@@pand47_ is it theft or inspiration. If a game can take the good aspects of so many disparate genres and put them together seamlessly then more power to them. Games flourish when developers see what works and implements that. That's why fortnite is so huge, it sees what the industry is doing and does that and people love it.
Quality is more important than originality. I can point you to a lot of shitty but fully original game concepts, but most good games steal something from somewhere,
Hell every moba basically started as a dota clone, and the FPS genre was literally called "doom clones" for the beginning of its life. And even to this day anything with dodge rolls, boss fights and bonfires is called a "souls like"
Big question
Why is human slavery possible in pal world
Questions that get us demonitised
Because why not?
If humans and pals are related, and you can catch pals in the spheres, why not a human?
Never traced spongebob, but did a pretty good shark when I was young
For now im staying on the wait-and-see side of whats happening here. I also saw that they're making another game that too feels "inspired" so for me the possibility of them moving on feels more likely.
If I want my Pokemon fix I’ll just go play PokeMMO or read the Pokemon Adventures manga.
7:45 pretty 3ds homescreen 😮😮😮
Did you know this look like The legend of Zelda Tears the kingdom, Pokémon, Fortnite, and Minecraft
17:22 I’ll have you know that my dad is VERY good at his job.
I did not know y'all had a group channel
TOONUKI LAAAAB
Yeah so they took the og 3d models, bones and all, and built off of them. so they didnt have to bone so much, which is honestly the hardest part. While you cant copyright 3d model bones, it is kinda sucky that they give no credit to the og. Just lots of theft and laziness. while the game looks fun, i dont think i wanna give them my money for being lazy
Trenzi is an Aipom. I stand by this as a person who hasn't played Pokémon in years.
I love the game, but it took a while to get my faves, dazzie included 😭😭😭
Wait, that was Barry age 63 not a god!
Also palworld really feels like elden ring to me cause they got a really strong boss right out side where you first spawn in
This must be the funniest "This game is like Elden ring" I've seen since Kotaku tried to compare Mario Wonder's online play to it
@@rustyybucket4027 how. . .how does that even make sense?! Their online play is nothing alike, they actually have functioning servers!
What Should Fake Pokemon???!!!! 🥱😤
So it’s not a drop but a cop
Madz are you still thinking about metal gear, solid piece walker, crossover with monster hunter It’s your video about lethal company and I left the comment there with a timestamp should’ve known
Gtemadz, can you please reshare all of your old videos?
Imma be honest Madz. I appreciate your taste in fonts.

If you want a copy and paste pokemon game dont play Palworld, just play a pokemon game they have been the same for the last years
