Thanks Mike, I have a small collection of those waiting to process, now I know the recovery. I don't think modern microwaves use beryllium, it is too expensive and a production hazard. Hope your saw recovers. 👍
That's good! The next time I do this I'll use a grinder as recommended by @BushDogScrapper and see the results for myself. I have seen conflicting info about that too. I'm not sure. Better to be safe than sorry I feel.
I always think they look like a copper vehicle rim lol I wrap tape around the ends just in case it's beryllium they say the newer ones are different now but always better to be safe! Great Video sorry about the sawzall I use a grinder it make fast work of them! CheeRs
Yo BD! Thanks for watching! I've never thought of it like that, and once you pointed that out they do indeed look like wheel rim spokes, lol. Absolutely, No one wants lungs cancer. I'll try the grinder when I have some more stored up!
Once they have been cut open? Nothing as they are deformed. I can only assume that they would short due to a lack of space between them. I don't know what an intact one would do. That's a good question. Thanks for watching.
Yes what i was thinking, is sad to waste metal but 1.5 hours, a broken recip saw and a wasted blade adds up to a lot of money for me! All the same, hard to pitch valuable metal.
I love the look of those, just collecting them up for now but I knew they would be yummy inside!🧡 Hope the saw is good again once cooled down!
Yes they are nice to look at once cut open! Thankfully it's just the switch contacts, so I'll bypass the safety mechanism and install a new switch.
Nice video friend. Hopefully your saw just needs to cool off and will work.
I only do 2 or 3 at a time using my angle grinder.
Thanks for watching! It's the switch that's cooked. I'll replace it with a new one and bypass the safety mechanism. How do you find using a grinder?

@@MicroScraprMike Have a great day Bro!
I believe the insulators are brazed on and can be de-soldered with a torch.
That's interesting. Have you done this personally?
@@MicroScraprMike Yes, but I wasn't scrapping them. Just taking one apart.
@@therealjammit Will a simple handheld butane torch work? Or does it need to be oxy acetylene ?
@@MicroScraprMike I used the propane to do it. The MAP gas should also work.
@@therealjammit I'll give that a try, thanks!
I always wonder how they looked. Thanks for sharing
I'm glad you found it useful. Thanks.
Great video. I have a pail of them todo as well
Use a grinder. lol, it might be a lot faster haha! 😅
@@MicroScraprMike good to know thanks
I just did a video on the same thing Great video Mike
Yayy 😁👋🎉
👍
So what happens if you put those cavities into a microwave and turn it on? I want to know.

What’s the scrap value of 1.2kg in copper
In the USA: 1.2kg = 2.64lb; average scrap value today 10 June 2023 is USD $2.90 so it would be in USD $7.66
Not enough to make it worth the time.

@@bobs1345 The cost of a couple blades.
@@bobs1345 Thank you for that I information! 😀
