..just checked this out John, blazing man!..it seems like you have memorized quite a bit here..I heard Pat’s influences in the prior vid, beginning to connect with me even more..thanks again for posting..even more thanks for the inspiration brother!
That’s how i was first taught the major scales. But I think it’s best to know 7 forms as well. 3 on a string starting on every note of the scale, and you can also approach it as 7 forms without adhering to 3 on a string. Every way you can play the scale is really what you want to do I think.
@@johnmorrisonguitar Sorry I didn't get any notification if your reply. I actually started guitar with flamenco and classical music and then got into fusion and rock so I learned the three notes per string scales first and all the 7 major, melodic minor and harmonic minor modes which I know inside out. I then turned all that completely upside down spent about 6 years with P4 tuning and had to relearn everything from scratch, chords were murder! Then about a year ago I went back to standard tuning and had to unlearn all of that and relearn standard again. 😂It's only now that I'm really getting into the CAGED system because I find it much more conducive to being melodic especially with jazz and bebop as its sits you right on top of and inside the chords and the arpeggios are right there as well in the same grip. The CAGED system is making everything so much easier for me. 😊
@ Oh wow that sounds brutallll 😭 switching tunings and then going back. CAGED is good but it’s kind of all the same if you know the scales already three on a string and the modes right..at least all you need to relearn is the 1st and 2nd string

Hi John.. may I ask is your overview CAGED system?
