I was blessed to get to see Emily in a tiny club under the Redondo Beach pier in the early 80s, just before she passed. She would have been so thrilled and honored to see such a talented young woman carrying on her legacy a half century later. ❤️
I'm 23, grew up in Redondo Beach til a few years ago. The stories I hear about the jazz history of the area, about Miles and Bill Evans and the like, make me envious of that time!
Hey, I remember that club under the Redondo Beach pier. Cal Tjader was the house band there back in the late '70s. I saw him at least 5 times in that room. Wow! Concerts by the Sea was the club, and guys like Poncho Sanchez would sit in...what a blast!
Watching you play reminds me of when Tommy Emmanuel was in concert and asked Does anybody here play guitar and a guy yelled - Not Anymore. I had the same reaction watching you play. You are amazing.
You can seriously learn how to play Guitar with any tune she plays. Her playing is exquisitely visual and precise. That guitar is a beautiful instrument, the tune is too and she is too. Thank you. These tunes are my Roots of playing for the last 50 years. You can play anything after learning Jazz and Blues standards.
Wow. Technique and mastery of the fret board is there. Smoothness will come with playing every day. You will have a wonderful life. Bravo young lady. Bravo.
I saw Emily Remler a few times. She was a relaxed player who would throw her head back, look up and play with abandon. You have a beautiful tone and relaxed feel. You're doing great! Don't be afraid to play with abandon, she would have.
Great playing. Having tried jazz, I know how complex and demanding this style of playing is. WELL DONE! It’s good to see young players keeping this music alive in a new century.
I've listened to (and watched) closely this video two times, and I want to weep. Her phrasing is elegant, the composition sublime and the entire experience overall is an emotional ecstasy. It amazes me, still, that such beauty is possible. This is confirmation--it does! Wes Montgomery wasn't a musician. He was a miracle.
I could listen to her all day.. I read in her bio that she's only been playing for 8 years. It makes an old man like me want to sell all my guitars. Great to see and hear a young talent appreciate Wes Montgomery... only of my favorite guitarists.
I meant to say "Wes Montgomery... ONE of my favorite guitarists." Question: Do you have a CD of your work? I'm an old guy... I still use CD's and vinyl records.
I know what you mean, I've been struggling for decades to try to learn. However I used to have to rewind a cassette or move the needle back on an album to practice sections back in the day. No excuse but I'm sure the internet would have made things a bit easier. That's my excuse anyway! Also some folk certainly are far more talented too or pick up things more quickly. I still enjoy being rubbish!
That was flawless, you never slipped or choked, and were confident all the way. I had the pleasure of meeting Emily, who came to a music store I was working in- mid 1980's. She was with legendary Larry Coryell at the time- they were playing a cruise ship gig and were in port, stopping in to look for obscure jazz recordings- which we had plenty of. Both of them are missed. From the way you played this, I'd bet they'd make a trio of their duo and welcome you to sit in, were they still with us.
Wow, I'm surprised! Good covers of this piece are are. Very clean and clear playing. Excellent technique. Glad to see that Emily is still alive among young players. Keep it up.
What talent. Thank you for sharing it with the frustrated guitarist of the world. Seriously though it’s a pleasure seeing such young talent and keeping the love of guitar alive.
I ran into Emily when I worked in sales at a music store in Burlington VT (Boyd’s Music). At that time I did not know who she was, but as a jazz musician myself, I was blown away with her chord melody playing in the shop.
This demands a thumbs up.
Lol, the 'Thumb" She's good.
More than one! Where is the 1000 thumbs up button??
Et non un coup de médiator.
A thumb downward, surely
Does it matter?
You catch the essence of Wes Montgomery and this not easy.

Just beautiful- we are so fortunate to still be able to hear her. Peace.
Making an instrument talk, shout, whisper is real talent. She’s got it. ❤
im fascinated wiith the way you can use or not use the pick and have it stay in place without dropping it from your knee or hand - amazing
